For AS4000 (Series C and above) and
WARNING
DO NOT install or service this equipment unless
you are trained and qualified. installing and servic-
ing this equipment requires access to parts which
may cause electric shock or other serious bodily
injury if the work is not performed properly.
ALWAYS follow the Pressure Relief Pro-
cedure, below, before installing the kit or
performing any service.
Pressure Relief Procedure
1. AS4000 Gun: Turn off the high voltage power
supply.
PRO4000 Gun: Turn the ES ON-OFF valve lever
to OFF.
2. Turn off the air and fluid supply to the gun.
3. Trigger the gun to relieve the fluid pressure.
Electrical Codes
BE SURE your installation complies with National,
State, and Local Codes for the installation of elec-
trical apparatus in a Class 1, Group D, Divi-
sions 1 and 2 Hazardous Location.
NOTE: Numbers and letters in parentheses in the
text correspond to the reference numbers
and letters in the Figures; letters refer to
original gun parts, numbers refer to new kit
parts.
Disassembling the Gun (See Fig 1)
Loosen the nuts (A&B). Remove the fluid tube (C), nuts
(A&B) and the collar (D).
Remove the fitting (E) from the gun barrel.
Remove the screw (F), retainer plate (G), adapter (H),
and the adapter retainer (K) PRO4000 Gun only, from
the bracket (J).
NOTE: Keep the screw (F), adapter retainer
(K)— PRO4000 Gun only, and retainer plate
(G) to install the kit.
Assembling the Gun (See Fig 2)
RO4000 Guns
CAUTION
To help avoid electrical breakdown, the gun's fluid
inlet must be clean and dry before installing the
kit.
Secure the adapter (6), the retainer plate (G), and the
adapter retainer (K)— PRO4000 gun only, to the bracket
(J) with the screw (F) in the order shown in Fig 2.
Slide the nut (4) and collar (5) onto the fluid hose (1).
Insert the fluid hose (1) through the adapter (6). Then
slide the nut (9) and fitting (2) onto the hose in the order
shown in Fig 2.
Press the washer (11) over the fitting (2) threads.
Push the barbed fitting (3) into the fluid hose (1) until
the hose is pressed against the fitting's shoulder.

Push the upper fitting assembly (items 2, 3, & 11) into
the gun barrel until the gun barrel is pressed against the
barbed fittings shoulder.

Tighten the fitting (2) until the washer (11) is compress-
ed to about half its original thickness. ,
Tighten the nut (9) against the fitting (2).
Spread the black outer hose cover (L) around the collar
(5). See the Detail in Fig 2. While holding the hose in
place, tighten the nut (4) firmly onto the adapter (6).
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, fire, or ex-
plosion, the collar (5) and the inside of the black
hose cover (L) must be held in contact to assure
electrical continuity. See the Detail in Fig 2.

For AS5000 Gun (Series D and above)
WARNING

Pressure Relief Procedure

2. Turn off the air and fluid supply to the gun.
3. Actuate the gun to relieve the fluid pressure.

tube (Q), nuts (N&P) and the collar (R).
Remove the fitting (S) from the gun barrel.
Screw the adapter (T) out of the bracket (U) and
remove the washer (V) from the adapter.
NOTE: Keep the washer (V) to install the kit.

Assembling the Gun (See Fig 4)
Install the washer (V) on the new adapter (102) and
screw the adapter into the bracket (U).
Insert the fluid hose (101) through the adapter (102) far O Cun
enough to install the collar (103), nuts (106 & 109), fit-
ting (108) and the sleeve (110). These parts must be slip-
ped onto the fluid hose (101).
Insert the end of the fluid hose (101) into the gun barrel
until it seats against the bottom of the inlet port. Hold
the hose so it is firmly seated and slide the sleeve (110)
and fitting (108) into the intake port. Tighten the fitting
(108) until the hex portion of the fitting just contacts the
gun barrel.
CAUTION |
Do not overtighten the fitting (108). Overtighten-
ing will break the fitting.
Screw the fluid tube nut (109) onto the fitting (108) and
tighten.
Insert a screwdriver into the slot in the collar (103) and
slide it over the ground shield layer (W) of the fluid hose 106
(101). See the Detail in Fig 4. Screw the nut (106) onto
the adapter (102) and tighten. 103

SERVICE INFORMATION
Manual revised to change Fig 1 illustration and to
change length of hose 221-009 from 8 m (25 ft) to
15 m (50 ft).

WARRANTY
Graco warrants all equipment manufactured by it and bearing its name to be free from defects in material and workmanship orthe
date of sale by an authorized Graco distributor to the original purchaser foruse. As purchaser's sole remedy for breach of this
warranty, Graco will, for a period of twelve months from the date of sale, repairor replace any part of the equipment proven defec-
tive. This warranty applies only when the equipment is installed, operated and maintained in accordance with Graco's written
recommendations. _
This warranty does not cover, and Graco shall not be liable for, any maifunction, damage or wear caused by faulty installation,
misapplication, abrasion, corrosion, inadequate or improper maintenance, negligence, accident, tampering, or substitutionof
non—Graco component parts. Nor shall Graco be liable for malfunction, damage or wear caused by the incompatibility with Graco
equipment of structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco, or the improper design, manufacture, instal-
lation, operation or maintenance of structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco.
This warranty is conditioned upon the prepaid return of the equipment claimed to be defective to an authorized Graco distributorfor
verification of the claimed defect. If the claimed defect is verified, Graco will repair or replace free of charge any defective parts.
The equipment will be returned to the original purchaser transportation prepaid. If inspection ofthe equipment does not disclose
any defect in material or workmanship, repairs will be made at a reasonable charge, which charges may include the costs of parts,
labor and transportation.
DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS
THE TERMS OF THIS WARRANTY CONSTITUTE PURCHASER'S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AND ARE IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES (EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED), INCLUDING WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND OF ANY NON-CONTRAC-

RESPECT TO ACCESSORIES, EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, OR COMPONENTS SOLD BUT NOT MANUFACTURED BY GRACO. These items sold, but not
manufactured by Graco (such as electric motor, switches, hose, etc.) are subject to the warranty, if any, of their manufacturer.
Graco will provide purchaser with reasonable assistance in making any claim for breach of these warranties.
