WARNING
ALWAYS turn off the power, air, and fluid supply to the gun, and trigger the gun to relieve system pressure before
installing or removing the air cap/fluid nozzle assembly. This will help reduce the risk of serious bodily injury,
including splashing in the eyes or on the skin, or electric shock.
NOTE: Refer to your air spray gun instruction manual for installing the air cap and fluid nozzle. If you do not have a
copy of the manual, copies are available at no charge from Graco Inc.

HOW TO USE THE FLUID NOZZLE GRAPHS
Fluid nozzle performance will vary depending on fluid
viscosity, fluid flow, and fluid pressure . Using these
variables, Example 1, below, shows you how to use the
graphs to choose the fluid nozzle best suited for your installation. Once you have selected your fluid nozzle,
Example 2, shows you how to use the graphed information to adjust the variables to get the results you want.
KEY
Each of the fluid nozzle graphs has three
graphed lines:
L
Light Viscosity
M Medium Viscosity
H Heavy Viscosity
NOTE: For the best atomization and electrostatic results, use the largest orifice nozzle size that is
compatible with your pressure and flow conditions.
EXAMPLES:
1. If your fluid is medium viscosity, your required flow is
450 cc/min., and your desired fluid pressure is 1.05
bar, you would proceed as follows to determine
which fluid nozzle would best suit your needs.
2. If you are using a 1.2 mm fluid nozzle, your fluid is
medium viscosity, and your required flow is 355 cc/
min., you would proceed as follows to determine how
much fluid pressure is required.
a. On each of the fluid nozzle graphs, find 450 cc/
min. on the flow axis and 1.05 bar on the pressure axis. Mark the spot with a pencil.
a. Locate the graph for the 1.2 mm nozzle.
b. Compare how close the marked spot is to the
graphed line for medium viscosity fluid (M).
The nozzle whose graph has the mark which
comes closest to the medium viscosity line is the
nozzle you should use.
c.
c. In this case, you should use a 1.2 mm nozzle.
b. Find 355 cc/min. on the flow axis.
Move up from this point on the graph to the line
for medium viscosity fluid (M).
d. Look to the left, on the pressure axis, to find the
fluid pressure required.
e. The fluid pressure required is about 0.9 bar.
