1.1 Introduction to CEYA SMART.
CEYA SMART is a radiofrequency device with capacitive and coaxial coupling to the human
body designed for beauty treatments. The diathermia through radiofrequency is produced
through a high frequency electrical current which circulates through the human body. This
kind of high frequency electrical stimulation does not generate any type of muscular or
nervous response. It only produces a thermical effect according to the density of the
circulating current. This way the device generates a temperature increase in a specific area
which will produce Hyperthermia, the effect we are looking for.
The radiofrequency current and the human body are coupled by means of an insulated
electrode, the active plate, which together with the body and the return electrode, the
passive plate, forms a capacitive electrical circuit. This circuit allows for the radiofrequency
current to pass through that part of the body comprised between the two electrodes. This
is what we call capacitive coupling. The most important advantage of this type of coupling
consists in the elimination of possible electric arcs which are produced when using non
insulated electrodes. When non insulated electrodes generate electric arcs, the skin inevitably
gets burned.
CEYA SMART has three independent outlets which have been insulated from one another.
This configuration allows for a wide variety of different treatments.
CEYA SMART is a very advanced system controlled by a micro-processer, which controls the
correct functioning of the device at any time. The user’s interface consists in a monochrome
graphic display of 240 x 128 pixels which shows the device’s modes and paragraphs and
a keyboard corresponding to the information shown on he displays which allows giving
commands.

4.3 User’s instructions.
The only icons that are activated are those associated to the keys that can perform any action at
that very moment.
The actions that are possible at each moment depend of the state of the device:
· Accessories are connected.
· Safety button has been connected and is being pressed or not
· Treatment completed.
· Treatment in course
· Treatment paused.
· Reset to default parameters.
Once the device has been activated and all the initial safety checkings have been done, the device
shows a display with the EMA logotype (Figure 5.1). When pressing a key the device passes to the
treatment display (Figure 5.2).
The basic requirement to start up a treatment is the correct connection of accessories to one of the
device’s outlets.
Only the outlets with correctly connected accessories can be activated. The outlets that have no
accessories connected to them or that have wrongly connected accessories, because one is missing
or the connector is not correctly inserted, will remain disabled and will not respond to a possible
potency increase in the channel.
Once accessories have been connected correctly in at least one outlet of the device, it is possible
to change modes. At this moment it is possible to adjust the programmed treatment time with the
buttons to increase or decrease time (Buttons 4.1 and 4.2. Figure 1.2), or to start a treatment pressing
the START/STOP button (button 4.3. Figure 1.2).
Once the treatment has started, it is possible to adjust the potency of each outlet with the corresponding
increase and decrease buttons. (Figure 1.2. Outlet 1: Buttons 6.2 and 6.3. Outlet 2: Buttons 7.2 and
7.3. Outlet 3: Buttons 8.2 and 8.3).A green pilot light (Figure 1.2. Outlet 1. Pilot 6. Outlet 2. Pilot 7. Outlet
3. Pilot 8.) will lighten up in each outlet when energy is being delivered. The intensity of the lights
depends of the selected potency.
Throughout the application of energy, the device will measure the total energy delivered to all of the
active outlets, showing the figures in the capsule of the corresponding channel. The figure is expressed
in kilocalories.
While the device is working; only one action is possible: you can pause the treatment by pressing
the “START/STOP” button (4.3. Figure 1.1). When pressing it, the device will enter the pause mode,
enabling the following actions:
· Continue the treatment, maintaining the same potency and time-related parameters as
before the pause (4.3. Figure 1.1).
· Reset all the energy counters (Buttons 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 Figure 1.2).
· Restart the treatment, returning all the parameters to their default values (Button
4.4. Figure 1.2).
During the treatment, no accessory should be disconnected. When disconnecting an accessory
during the treatment, the treatment immediately comes to a stop and an alarm icone appears
in the display (Icone nº 3. Table 5.1) and the device emits a sound signal. Once the device has
entered in this state, it is not possible to return to the treatment and the only possible action is
the start up a new treatment.
C apítulo 4
4.4 Safety command.
The safety command is an element that requires pressing a button in order to activate the
outlets, allowing the patient to immediately detain the treatment in case of an emergency.
When the button is connected but not being pressed, an informative icone appears on the
display (icone nº 2 table 5.1) and it is not possible to activate the outlet because the “START/STOP”
button remains disabled. The option to activate the outlets will only be available while the
safety button is being pressed.
If during treatment the safety button is let go off, the treatment will be automatically stopped
and the device will emit a sound signal and an informative icone will appear on the display
(Icone nº 2. Tabel 5.1). If this occurs, the outlets will not activate when pressing the safety button
again: the device will remain in a state of pause and it will take the operator’s intervention in
order to deblock the treatment by pressing the START/STOP button. (4.3. Figure 1.1)
