To change the batteries in your Brother PT-1190 label printer, follow the steps in the 'CHANGING THE BATTERIES' section of the instruction manual. You will need to press the bumps on top of the back cover to open it, remove the old batteries, insert six new AAA batteries making sure the + and - ends are oriented correctly, and then close the back cover securely. If no power, immediately remove batteries and call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-BROTHER (1-877-276-8437).

You can only use Brother TZe tapes with this machine to avoid damage. Do not use tapes that do not have the TZe mark. Tapes are available in three different widths: 0.23" (6 mm), 0.35" (9 mm) and 0.47" (12 mm).

You can select from one of five different sizes for your characters, including AUTO which adjusts the size to the largest possible size based on your tape width. You can also choose from nine different print styles: NORMAL, OUTLINE, BOLD, SHADOW, ITALIC, I+BOLD, I+SHADOW, VERTICAL, I+OUTL. You can also use the memory to store frequently used text, recall it when needed, and delete it when no longer required.

You can use the numbering function to print multiple copies of the same text while increasing a selected number by 1 after each label is printed. This is helpful for printing labels containing a serial number. Position the cursor below the number that you wish to increase. Press and until REPEAT is displayed, then press . The message “1-9?” appears. Press and until the number of labels you want to print appears, or press the key (1-9) corresponding to that number. Press to print the labels.

Mirror printing flips your label so the text is readable from the adhesive side of the tape. This is useful for labels placed on glass or transparent materials. Press and until MIRROR is displayed, then press . The current mirror printing setting appears. Press and until the desired mirror printing setting is displayed, then press or to apply the selection.
