RigExpert AA-230 ZOOM Antenna analyzer User’s manual

The RigExpert AA-230 ZOOM is a powerful yet easy-to-use antenna and cable analyzer. It is designed for measuring SWR (standing wave ratio), return loss, cable loss, as well as other parameters of cable and antenna systems in the range of 100 kHz to 230 MHz. It has a built-in ZOOM capability which makes graphical measurements especially effective, and an integrated Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) mode which can be used to locate faults within the feedline system.

Frequently asked questions

The AA-230 ZOOM has a variety of measurement modes, including SWR at single or multiple frequencies, SWR chart, R, X chart, Smith chart, Return loss chart, TDR chart, Cable tools (loss and characteristic impedance), as well as All parameters mode.

When measuring cable loss, the far end of the cable is first open-circuited, then short-circuited. This allows the analyzer to determine the loss in the cable based on these two different conditions.

The TDR mode (Time Domain Reflectometer) of the AA-230 ZOOM is used to locate faults in transmission lines. When a pulse is sent down the line, the analyzer can detect any reflections that occur due to a fault. These reflections can then be used to determine the location and type of fault.

The AA-230 ZOOM can be calibrated using an open-short-load calibration. To do this, you will need to connect three different calibration standards (open, short, and load) to the antenna connector of the analyzer. Once the calibration is complete, the analyzer will display more accurate measurements of your antenna and cable system.
