Advice on operation
Select the air distribution most suited
to your requirements and the climatic
conditions.
Gradually adjust the temperature
setting for your comfort.
Position the air control in the ''Outside
Air'' position.
For perfectly even air distribution,
take care not to obstruct the exterior
air intake grille and the vents. Check
that the passenger compartment filter is in good condition.
When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the
ventilation will increase to its optimum level gradually.
In order to be effective, the air conditioning (A/C button), should only be
used with the windows closed.
If the interior temperature remains
very high following a prolonged period
parked in the sun, do not hesitate to
ventilate the passenger compartment
for a few minutes.
The air conditioning system does not
contain chlorine and does not present any danger to the ozone layer.
Operate the air conditioning system
for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a
month, to keep it in perfect working
order.
The water created by the air conditioning
condensation is discharged via an opening provided for this purpose. Therefore,
a puddle of water may form underneath
the vehicle when stationary.
If the system does not produce
cold air, do not use it and contact a
CITROËN dealer.
De-icing the rear windows and
mirrors
With the engine running, pressing
the control de-ices the rear windows
and mirrors.
It switches off automatically after approximately twelve minutes.
Pressing the control again switches the de-icing system on again for
twelve minutes.
It is possible to switch off the de-icing
by pressing the control before the
twelve minutes have elapsed.

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of CITROËN's main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- all children under the age of 12
or less than one metre fifty tall
must travel in approved child
seats suited to their weight,
on seats fitted with a seat belt or
ISOFIX mountings*.
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwardsfacing" position in the front.
"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front passenger seat, you must deactivate the
passenger's airbag*. Otherwise, the
child would risk being seriously
injured or killed if the airbag were
to inflate.
"Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat
is installed on the front passenger
seat, adjust the vehicle's seat to the
intermediate longitudinal position
with the seat back upright and leave
the passenger's airbag activated.

position
* The rules for carrying children are
specific to each country. Refer to the
current legislation in your country.

"ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS
Your vehicle has been approved in accordance with the ISOFIX regulation.
The seats, represented below, are fitted with regulation ISOFIX mountings:
These are two rings located between
the seat back and the seat cushion.
This ISOFIX mounting system guarantees reliable, safe and fast fitting of
the child seat in your vehicle.
The ISOFIX child seats are fitted
with two locks which are secured
easily on these rings.

ISOFIX CHILD SEAT RECOMMENDED BY CITROËN AND APPROVED FOR YOUR VEHICLE
Isofix KIDDY
Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg
Group 1: from 9 to 18 kg
Installed in the rear facing position,
on the rear side seat only.
Installed in the forwards facing position.
The body of this child seat must be in contact with the back
of the vehicle's front seat.
This child seat can also be used on
seats which are not fitted with ISOFIX
mountings.
It is imperative that the vehicle's front seat is adjusted to
the intermediate longitudinal position.
In this case, it is compulsory to secure the child seat to the vehicle's
seat using the three-point seat belt.
Follow the instructions for fitting
the child seat indicated in the seat
manufacturer's installation guide.
SEATS - 41
ADVICE ON CHILD
SEATS
The incorrect installation of a
child seat in a vehicle compromises the child's protection in the
event of an accident.
Remember to fasten the seat belts
or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack in relation to the child's
body to a minimum, even for short
journeys.
For optimum installation of the "forward facing" child seat, ensure that
the back of the child seat is in contact
with the back of the vehicle's seat
and that the head restraint does not
cause any discomfort.
If the head restraint has to be removed,
ensure that it is stored or attached securely to prevent it from being thrown
around the vehicle in the event of
sharp braking.
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the "forward facing" position
on the front passenger seat, unless
the rear seats are already occupied
by other children, cannot be used or
are absent.
Disarm the passenger airbag when
a "rear facing" child seat is installed
on the front seat. Otherwise, the child
would risk being seriously injured or
killed if the airbag were to inflate.
Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must
be positioned on the child's shoulder
without touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat
belt passes correctly over the child's
thighs.
CITROËN recommends the use of
a booster seat which has a back, fitted with a seat belt guide at shoulder
level.
As a safety precaution, do not leave:
- one or more children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle,
- a child or an animal in a vehicle
which is exposed to the sun, with
the windows closed,
- the keys within reach of children
inside the vehicle.
To
prevent
accidental
opening of the doors, use
the "Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear windows by more than one third.
To protect young children from the
rays of the sun, fit side blinds on the
rear windows.
42 - SEATS
Locking the seat belts
Pull the strap, then insert the end into
the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Unfastening the seat belts
Press the button on the buckle.
SEAT BELTS
Seat belt height adjustment
To lower or raise: slide the control
downwards or upwards.
Front seat belts with pretensioner
Safety in the event of frontal impacts
has been improved by the introduction of pre-tensioning seat belts for
the front seats.
Depending on the seriousness of the
impact, the pre-tensioning system
instantly tightens the seat belts and
pulls them against the bodies of the
occupants.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
Rear seat belts (5 seat
version)
The rear seats are fitted with three
three-point inertia reel seat belts
(two-part rear seat, 1/3 - 2/3).
SEATS - 43
The driver must ensure that
the passengers use the seat
belts correctly and that they
are all properly restrained
before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the vehicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
they will not fulfil their role fully.
If the seats have armrests*, the lap
part of the seat belt must always
pass under the armrest.
The seat belts are fitted with an inertia reel permitting automatic adjustment of the length of the strap to your
size. The seat belt is stored automatically when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is reeled in correctly.
The lower part of the strap must be
positioned as low as possible on the
pelvis.
The upper part must be positioned in
the hollow of the shoulder.
The inertia reels are fitted with an automatic locking device which comes
into operation in the event of a collision, on emergency braking or if the
vehicle rolls over. You can release
the device by pulling rapidly on the
strap and releasing it.
In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the
body as possible,
- must restrain one adult only,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or
fraying,
- must be pulled in front of you with
a smooth movement, checking
that it does not twist,
- must not be transformed or modified
to avoid altering its performance.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, all repairs and checks
must be carried out by a CITROËN
dealer who guarantees that the work
is carried out correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regularly
by a CITROËN dealer and particularly
if the straps show signs of damage.
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product,
sold by CITROËN dealers.
Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the passenger is less than 12 years old or
shorter than one metre fifty,
- do not use the strap-guide* when
a child seat is installed.
- never use the same seat belt to
secure more than one person,
- never allow a child to travel on
your lap.
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the impacts, the pre-tensioning
device may be triggered before and independently of the airbags. Triggering of
the pre-tensioners is accompanied by a
slight emission of harmless smoke and
a noise, due to the activation of the pyrotechnic cartridge incorporated in the
system.
In all cases, the airbag warning lamp
comes on.
Following an impact, have the seat
belts system checked, and if necessary replaced, by a CITROËN dealer.
After folding or moving a
seat or rear bench seat,
ensure that the seat belt
is positioned and rolled up
correctly.
* According to model.

ELECTRONIC ENGINE
IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine control system as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
does not have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic
chip which has a special code. When
the ignition is switched on, the code
must be recognised for the vehicle to
start.
If the system does not function
correctly, the central locking button
indicator light, situated in the centre
of the fascia, flashes rapidly when the
ignition is switched on (2nd notch),
accompanied by an audible signal
and a message on the display.
In this case your vehicle will not
start.
Contact a CITROËN dealer as soon
as possible.
Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the driver's door, if the key has been left in
the ignition.
Make a careful note of the
number of each key. This
number is coded on the label
attached to the key.
The high frequency remote control is
a sensitive system; do not operate it
while it is in your pocket as there is a
possibility that it may unlock the vehicle, without you being aware of it.
The remote control does not operate
when the key is in the ignition, even
when the ignition is switched off, except for reprogramming.
Do not operate the deadlocking function if there is anyone inside the
vehicle.
Driving with the doors locked may
make access to the passenger compartment by the emergency services
more difficult in an emergency.
As a safety precaution (with children
on board), remove the key from the
ignition when you leave the vehicle,
even for a short time.
Do not repeatedly press the buttons
of your remote control out of range of
your vehicle.
You run the risk of stopping it from
working and the remote control would
have to be reprogrammed.
When purchasing a second-hand vehicle, have the key codes memorised
by a CITROËN dealer, to ensure that
the keys in your possession are the
only ones which can start the vehicle.
Do not make any modifications to the
electronic engine immobiliser system.
If the keys are lost
Visit a CITROËN dealer with the vehicle’s V5 registration certificate and
your personal identification documents.
The CITROËN network will be able to
retrieve the key code and the transponder code to order a replacement
key.
A heavy object (key fob...), attached
to the key and weighing down on
its shaft in the ignition switch, could
cause a malfunction.
46 - ACCESS and STARTING

outside, flashes once a second).
Warning
If, on setting the alarm, a door, the
boot or the bonnet are not closed
correctly, the siren sounds for a moment.
Close the vehicle correctly to set the
alarm.
If the interior protection alarm is triggered ten times in succession, it is
disarmed automatically. It must be
set again in order for it to operate
correctly.
Disarming the alarm
Unlock the vehicle using the remote
control key (the red indicator lam in
the switch 1 goes off).
Note: if the warning light flashes, it is
a sign that the alarm has been triggered in your absence.
To stop it, switch on the ignition.
* According to country.
Note: when the alarm is set, but the
remote control no longer works:
) unlock the doors using the key
and open the door; the alarm is
triggered;
) switch the ignition on within ten
seconds; the alarm is disarmed.

DRIVING - 67
The airbags have been designed to
maximise the safety of the occupants
in the event of serious collisions. They
work in conjunction with the force-limiting seat belts. The electronic detectors register and analyse any abrupt
deceleration of the vehicle in the impact detection zones (see diagram): if
the triggering threshold is reached, the
airbags inflate instantly and protect the
occupants of the vehicle.
Immediately after the impact, the
airbags deflate rapidly so that they
do not hinder the visibility of the occupants nor their exit if necessary
from the vehicle.
The airbags are not deployed in the
case of minor impacts, rear impacts
or in certain roll-over conditions. The
seat belt is sufficient to ensure maximum protection in these situations.
The seriousness of a collision depends on the nature of the obstacle
and the speed of the vehicle at the
moment of the collision.
Airbags only operate when the
ignition is switched on.
Note: the gas escaping from
the airbags can be a minor
irritant.
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone.
FRONT AIRBAGS
These are folded in the centre of the
steering wheel for the driver and in
the fascia for the front passenger.
They are deployed simultaneously,
except in cases where the passenger airbag is disarmed, in the event
of a serious front impact applied in
the impact zone A in the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle, on a horizontal plane and from the front of the
vehicle towards the rear. The airbag
inflates between the front occupant of
the vehicle and the fascia to cushion
his forward movement. The airbags
therefore limit the risk of injury to the
head and chest.
68 - DRIVING
Front airbag malfunction
The airbag warning light on
the instrument panel is lit
throughout the period of disarming.
In the "OFF" position, the passenger airbag will not be triggered in the
event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the airbag slot to the "ON" position to re-activate the airbag and thus
ensure the safety of your passenger
in the event of an impact.
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal, contact a CITROËN
dealer to have the system
checked. The airbags may
no longer be triggered in the event of
a serious impact.
Disarming the passenger
airbag
To ensure the safety of your child,
it is essential to disarm the passenger airbag when you install a
rear-facing child seat on the front
passenger seat. Otherwise, the
child would risk being killed or seriously injured if the airbag were
to inflate.
) With the ignition switched off,
insert the key into the passenger
airbag disarming switch 1, turn it
to the "OFF" position, then remove the key keeping the slot in
this position.
Disarming check
This is confirmed by an indicator light, accompanied by
a message on the display.
With
the
ignition
on
(2nd notch), illumination of this
warning light indicates that the passenger airbag is disarmed (switch in
the "OFF" position).
If the two airbag warning
lights are lit continuously, do
not install a rear-facing child
seat. Consult a CITROËN
dealer.
DRIVING - 69
Airbags malfunction
SIDE AIRBAGS*
The side airbags are incorporated
into the front seat backs on the door
side.
The triggering of these airbags requires a serious side impact applied
in the side impact zone B, perpendicular to the longitudinal centreline
of the vehicle, on a horizontal plane
and from the outside of the vehicle
towards the inside. The side airbag
inflates between the front occupant
of the vehicle and the door trim pad.
It therefore limits the risk of injury to
the chest.
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal, contact a CITROËN
dealer to have the system
checked. The airbags may
no longer be triggered in the event of
a serious impact.
For the front and lateral
airbags to be fully effective, observe the following
safety rules:
●
●
●
●
●
* According to version.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat
belt.
Sit in a normal upright position.
Do not leave anything between
the occupants and the airbags
(child, animal, object, ...).
This could hamper the operation
of the airbags or injure the occupants.
All work on the airbag systems
is strictly prohibited unless it is
carried out by trained staff of the
CITROËN network.
After an accident or if the vehicle has been stolen or broken
into, have the airbag systems
checked.
Front airbags
● Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting
your hands on the centre part of
the wheel.
● Passengers must not place their
feet on the dashboard.
● Smoke as little as possible; deployment of the airbags can
cause burns or the risk of injury
from a cigarette or pipe.
● Never remove or pierce the steering
wheel or hit it violently.
Lateral airbags*
● Only put approved covers on the
front seats. Consult a CITROËN
dealer.
● Do not fix or attach anything to
the front seat backs. This could
cause injury to the chest or arms
when the lateral airbag inflates.
● Do not sit with the upper part of
the body any nearer to the door
than necessary.

CHECKING THE LEVELS
Oil level
) Check the level regularly and top up
between changes. The maximum
consumption is 0.5 l per 600 miles
(1 000 km).
Check the level with the vehicle level,
engine cold, using the oil level gauge
on the instrument panel or the dipstick.
Dipstick
There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = maximum
Never fill past this
mark.
B = minimum
To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil
is prohibited.
Oil change
According to the information given in
the servicing booklet.
Note: avoid used oil coming into
prolonged contact with the skin.
Empty the used oil into the containers intended for this purpose in the
CITROËN network.
Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements.
Brake fluid level:
The brake fluid must be changed according
to the manufacturer's servicing schedule.
Use fluids recommended by the
manufacturer, which fulfil DOT4 standards.
Note: brake fluid is harmful to health
and very corrosive. Avoid all contact
with the skin.
Note: the coolant does not need to
be changed.
For vehicles equipped with a particle filter, the engine fan may operate
after the ignition has been switched
off, even when the engine is cold.
Used oil
Do not dispose of used oil, brake fluid or
coolant into drains or onto the ground.
Power steering reservoir
Cooling system
Use the fluid recommended by the
manufacturer.
When the engine is warm, the temperature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can operate with the ignition key removed
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any work.
Slacken the cap by two turns to release
the pressure to prevent any risk of scalding. When the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and top up the level.
) Open the reservoir, with the engine at ambient temperature. The
level should always be above the
MIN. mark and close to the MAX.
mark.
Windscreen and headlamp
wash level
For best quality cleaning and for
your safety, we would advise that
you use products recommended by
CITROËN.
For optimum cleaning and to prevent
freezing, this fluid must not be topped
up or replaced with water.

- fill the fuel tank with at least five litres
of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual
re-priming pump, under the bonnet
under the protective cover, until fuel
appears in the transparent pipe,
- operate the starter until the engine
starts.
FUEL SUPPLY CUT-OFF
(PETROL)
Only use products recommended by CITROËN or
products of equivalent quality
and specifications.
To ensure best performance from
components as important as the
power steering and the braking system, CITROËN selects and offers
quite specific products.
To prevent damage to the electrical
units, avoid washing the engine.
In a serious collision, a mechanism prevents
fuel from reaching the engine.
To re-establish the fuel supply, press
the switch on the corner of the front
right-hand suspension assembly, under
the bonnet.

BATTERY
ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
To charge the battery using a
battery charger:
After the engine has stopped, with
the key in the "accessories" position,
certain functions (windscreen wiper,
electric windows, courtesy lights,
audio equipment, etc.) can only be
used for a combined duration of approximately thirty minutes, to prevent
discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, a
switching to economy mode message appears on the multi-function
display and the active functions are
put on standby.
These functions are reactivated automatically next time the vehicle is
driven.
In order to resume the use of these
functions immediately, the engine
must be started and left to run for a
few minutes.
The time available to you will then
be double the duration for which the
engine is left running. However, this
period will always be between five
and thirty minutes.
-
Disconnect the battery,
Follow the instructions for use
given by the battery charger manufacturer,
Reconnect starting with the negative (-) terminal,
Check that the terminals and
connectors are clean. If they are
covered with sulphate (white or
greenish deposit), disconnect
them and clean them.
To start the vehicle from
another battery:
-
Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminals of the two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative (-) terminal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the
green or black cable to an earth
point on the broken down vehicle as far as possible from the
battery (for example, right-hand
engine mounting).
Operate the starter, let the engine run.
Wait for the engine to return to idle,
then disconnect the cables.
It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be
used for a period of more than
one month.
Before disconnecting the battery, you must wait 2 minutes
after switching off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal
when the engine is running.
Never charge a battery without first
disconnecting the terminals.
Close the windows and the roof before
disconnecting the battery.
After every reconnection of the battery, switch on the ignition and wait
1 minute before starting to allow the
electronic systems to be initialised. If
slight difficulties are experienced after this, please contact a CITROËN
dealer.
A flat battery prevents the
engine from starting.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION - 93
Never use the radiator crossmember.
When towing another vehicle, it must freewheel.
Place the gearbox in "neutral".
Failure to observe this instruction
may result in damage to certain braking components and the absence of
braking assistance when the engine
is started again.
TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
Without lifting
(four wheels on the ground)
You must always use a towbar.
From the front or the rear
Attach the towbar to the towing eye.
By lifting
(two wheels only on the ground)
It is preferable to lift the vehicle by
the wheels.
94 - PRACTICAL INFORMATION
TOWING A TRAILER,
CARAVAN, BOAT, ETC.
Driving advice
We recommend the use of original
CITROËN towbars and their harnesses that have been tested and
approved from the design stage of
your vehicle and that the fitting of the
towbar is entrusted to a CITROËN
dealer.
If the towbar is not fitted by a
CITROËN dealer, it is imperative that
it is fitted using the electrical preequipment installed at the rear of the
vehicle, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Your vehicle is primarily designed
for transporting people and luggage
but it may also be used for towing a
trailer.
Driving with a trailer subjects the towing vehicle to more significant stress
and its driver must be particularly
careful.
Air density decreases with altitude,
thus reducing engine performance.
Above 1 000 metres, the maximum
towing load must be reduced by 10 %
and so on for every 1 000 metres of
altitude.
Distribution of loads: Distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heaviest
items are as close as possible to the
axle and the nose weight approaches the maximum permitted without
exceeding it.
Cooling: Towing a trailer on a slope
increases the temperature of the
coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled,
its cooling capacity is not dependent
on the engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed and reduce
your speed.
The maximum towing load on a long
slope depends on the gradient and
the outside temperature.
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
In certain cases of particularly arduous use (towing the maximum load on
a steep gradient in high temperatures),
switching off the air conditioning permits
the recovery of engine power and therefore an increase in the towing capacity.
If the warning light comes on, stop
the vehicle and switch off the engine
as soon as possible.
Tyres: Check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pressures.
Braking: Towing increases the braking
distance.
Lights: Check the electrical signalling
on the trailer.
Side wind: Take into account the
increased sensitivity to side wind.

The external environment (hills, buildings, tunnels, basement car parks, ...)
may block reception, including in RDS mode. This is a normal effect of the
way in which radio waves are transmitted and does not indicate any failure
of the audio system.

RECEIVING TA MESSAGES
CD
PLAYING A CD
The TA (Traffic Announcement) function gives priority to TA alert
messages. To operate, this function needs good reception of a
radio station transmitting this type of message. When a traffic
report is transmitted, the current audio source (Radio, CD, ...) is
interrupted automatically to play the TA message. Normal playback
of the audio source resumes at the end of the transmission of the
message.
Insert circular compact discs only.
Some anti-pirating systems, on original discs or CDs copied using a
personal recorder, may cause faults which are no reflection on the
quality of the original player.
Without pressing the EJECT button, insert a CD in the player, play
begins automatically.

PLAYING AN MP3 COMPILATION
Insert an MP3 compilation in the player.
The audio equipment searches for all of the music tracks, which
may take anything between a few seconds and several tens of
seconds, before play begins.
On a single disc, the CD player can read up to 255 MP3 files
spread over 8 folder levels. However, it is advisable to keep to
a limit of two levels to reduce the access time before the CD is
played.
While the CD is being played, the folder structure is not followed.
All of the files are displayed on a single level.
1
To play a disc which has already
been inserted, press the SOURCE
button several times in succession

INFORMATION AND ADVICE
The MP3 format, an abbreviation of MPEG 1.2 & 2.5 Audio Layer 3,
is an audio compression standard which permits the recording of
several tens of music files on a single disc.
In order to be able to play a recorded CDR or CDRW, when
recording, the ISO 9660 level 1.2 or Joliet file format is
recommended.
If the disc is recorded in another format, it may not be played
correctly.
It is recommended that the same recording format is always
used for an individual disc, with as low a speed as possible
(4x maximum) for optimum sound quality.
In the particular case of a multi-session CD, the Joliet format is
recommended.
The audio system will only play files with the extension ".mp3" with
a sampling rate of 22.05 KHz or 44.1 KHz. No other type of file
(.wma, .mp4, .m3u...) can be played.
It is advisable to restrict file names to 20 characters without using
special characters (e.g. " ? ; ù) to avoid any playing or displaying
problems.
Empty CDs are not recognised and may damage the system.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
QUESTION
ANSWER
SOLUTION
There is a difference in
sound quality between
the different audio
sources (radio, CD...).
For optimum sound quality, the audio settings (Volume, Bass, Treble,
Ambience, Loudness) can be adapted to the different sound sources, which
may result in audible differences when changing source (radio, CD...).
Check that the audio settings (Volume, Bass,
Treble, Ambience, Loudness) are adapted to
the sources listened to. It is advisable to set
the AUDIO functions (Bass, Treble, Front-Rear
Balance, Left-Right Balance) to the middle
position, select the musical ambience "None" and
set the loudness correction to the "Active" position
in CD mode or to the "Inactive" position in radio
mode.
The CD is ejected
automatically or is not
played by the player.
The CD is inserted upside down, is unplayable, does not contain any
audio data or contains an audio format which the player cannot play.
The CD is protected by an anti-pirating protection system which is not
recognised by the audio equipment.
-
The CD player sound is
poor.
Check that the CD is inserted in the player the
right way up.
Check the condition of the CD: the CD cannot
be played if it is too damaged.
Check the content in the case of a recorded
CD: consult the advice in the "Audio" section.
The audio equipment's CD player does not
play DVDs.
Due to their quality level, certain writeable
CDs will not be played by the audio system.
The CD used is scratched or of poor quality.
Insert good quality CDs and store them in suitable
conditions.
The audio equipment settings (bass, treble, ambiences) are unsuitable.
Set the treble or bass level to 0, without selecting
an ambience.

QUESTION
ANSWER
SOLUTION
The stored stations do
not function (no sound,
87.5 Mhz is displayed...).
An incorrect waveband is selected.
Press the BAND AST button to return to the
waveband (AM, FM1, FM2, FMAST) on which the
stations are stored.
The traffic announcement
(TA) is displayed. I do
not receive any traffic
information.
The radio station is not part of the regional traffic information network.
Tune to a radio station which broadcasts traffic
information.
The quality of reception
of the radio station
listened to gradually
deteriorates or the stored
stations do not function
(no sound, 87.5 Mhz is
displayed...).
The vehicle is too far from the transmitter used by the station listened
to or there is no transmitter in the geographical area through which the
vehicle is travelling.
Activate the RDS function to enable the system
to check whether there is a more powerful
transmitter in the geographical area.
The environment (hills, buildings, tunnels, basement car parks...) block
reception, including in RDS mode.
This phenomenon is normal and does not indicate
a failure of the audio equipment.
The aerial is absent or has been damaged (for example when going
through a car wash or into an underground car park).
Have the aerial checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Sound cut-outs of 1 to
2 seconds in radio mode.
During this brief sound cut-out, the RDS searches for any frequency
permitting better reception of the station.
Deactivate the RDS function if the phenomenon is
too frequent and always on the same route.
With the engine off,
the audio equipment
switches off after a few
minutes of use.
When the engine is switched off, the audio equipment operating time
depends on the battery charge.
The switch-off is normal: the audio equipment switches to economy mode
and switches off to prevent discharging of the vehicle's battery.
Start the vehicle's engine to increase the battery
charge.
The message "the audio
system is overheated"
appears on the display.
In order to protect the installation if the surrounding temperature is too
high, the audio equipment switches to an automatic thermal protection
mode leading to a reduction of the volume or stopping of the playing of
the CD.
Switch the audio system off for a few minutes to
allow the system to cool.

The descriptions and illustrations are given without
any obligation. Automobiles CITROËN reserves
the right to modify the technical specifications,
equipment and accessories without having to update this edition of the handbook.
This document is an integral part of your vehicle. It
should be passed on to the new user in the event
of sale or transfer.
Automobiles CITROËN declares, by application of
the provisions of the European regulation (Directive
2000/53) relating to End of Life Vehicles, that it
achieves the objectives set by this regulation and
that recycled materials are used in the manufacture
of the products that it sells.
Reproduction or translation of all or part of this
handbook is prohibited without written authorisation
from Automobiles CITROËN.
For the attention of users of a vehicle adapted
to electric drive:
You have available the "Electric mode supplement"
which is provided with this Berlingo First document.
Refer to this supplement before using the vehicle
and most particularly before any connection is
made to charge the traction battery.
Ensure that the power socket you intend to use
is standard and compatible with the current rating (230 V alternating current - 10 A minimum). It
is recommended that in all cases this should be
checked by a skilled electrician.
You must only use the original charging cable and
without any extension lead.
The precautions are the same as for any electric
domestic appliance. Do not touch the metal end of
the normal socket nor that of the charging cable
(risk of malfunction and of electrocution).
