company wishes to thank you for the purchase of the EURO-2500T cash register. Please read the instructions and become familiar with its functions and operations before you start to operate this equipment. Keep this manual for future use. It will help you to solve most problems encountered in its operation. 1.1 Important 6 • Install the cash register in a place where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight, unusual temperature changes (under 0° C and above 50°C) or high humidity. Installation in such places could result in damage to the cabinet and electrical components. • Leave the cash register turned on for at least 8 hours to charge the NiCd memory back up accumulator to full capacity. • After transporting the unit from a cold environment to a warm one or vice versa, do not switch on the cash register for at least 20 minutes, giving all components time to adjust to the new temperature conditions. • Do not operate the cash register with wet hands unless you have a special wet cover. Water could seep into the interior of the Euro-2500T and cause component failure. • Clean the cash register with a dry, soft cloth. Never use such cleaning agents as petrol or solvents. Using such chemicals can result in discoloration or deterioration of the cabinet. • Avoid spilling any liquids on the cash register as they may damage its functionality. The keyboard should be carefully protected. • Connect the cash register with the supplied adapter into a standard network plug. Other electrical equipment connected in the same network circuit may cause improper functioning of the cash register. In an environment with strong interference use the special anti-interference aids recommended by the manufacturer of the cash register. • If the cash register malfunctions, contact your authorized dealer for service. Do not try to repair the register yourself. Do not open the cash register! • Pull out the AC/DC adapter plug from its electrical connection if the device is to be fully disconnected. • During receipt printing wait until the printer has finished printing. Do not tear off the receipt during printing. Printer damage may result. • Use only high-quality thermo paper. Improper ribbons may result in damage to the printer or shorten its lifetime. With suitableribbons and careful maintenance of the printer, its average lifetime is up to 25 milions lines. • If the red streak appears at the end of the paper ribbon, change this ribbon as soon as possible. If the ribbon is changed late it can cause printer damage, or decrease lifetime of the printer. © Elcom Ltd. Euro-2500T Introduction, basic characteristics • Journal paper storage recommendations: Do not expose thermo paper to light. Store where the temperature is not higher than 40°C. Avoid contact of thermo paper with PVC, mollificators, organic dissolvent or glue. • Use only the supplied AC/DC adapter or source recommended by the authorised dealer for electrical connection. Use of other types of adapters may result in damage to the cash register. • Use only the program recommended by your authorized dealer as well as the original interconnecting cable for the cash register communication with a computer. For bar code scanners use only the connector recommended in these instructions. • If the cash register is not used for a long time it is necessary to turn on the ECR for at least 24 hours per 3 months of disuse to charge the internal NiCd memory back-up accumulator and prevent data memory loss. • If the cash register is used in ways other than those described in these instructions, the dealer cannot be responsible for data inaccuracy and resulting damage. • Only CE certificated equipments can be connected to the Euro-2500T cash register. In the case of not using CE certificated equipments Elcom company is not responsible for any damages or CE incompliance of the whole system. Please contact your authorized dealer or Elcom company to get more information about equipments connectivity. 7 Introduction, basic characteristics Euro-2500T © Elcom Ltd. 1.2 Basic definitions Logo The heading on each printed receipt is introductory information preceding description of the goods purchased. Euro-2500T Introduction, basic characteristics 2.7 Paper rolls installation Two 54/54, 54/38 or 70/38 mm wide thermal paper ribbons are used in the operation of the Euro-2500T cash register. The left one is designed for customer receipt printing and the right one for journal printing. Use only good quality rolls of paper with a maximum diameter of 60 mm (2.35 inches). To ensure proper cash register operation, make sure the print saturation is correct. If any problems occur, consult your local authorized dealer. Place the paper rolls into the paper roll beds so that they can wind on to the front from the bottom (see picture below). The paper ribbon must be cut straight across and must be free of dirt and glue residue. Side view, journal installation Top view: print head is down print head is up First lift up the levers for holding up the print heads. Insert a customer ribbon and a journal ribbon according to the picture. Set the printing heads back down and press the receipt shifting button on the front of the cash register cabinet until the end of the paper ribbon comes out of the printer. Then press the journal shifting button until the journal ribbon comes out. Place the right ribbon into the slit of the take-up spool as in the picture. The journal ribbons edge should touch the take-up spool shield. Turn the take-up spool several times in the direction of rotation and make sure that the ribbon holds tightly. Put the take-up spool into the holder and turn it gently, so that the journal paper ribbon is firmly stretched. Close the printer cover. Tear off the extra paper ribbon and you can start to operate the register. 19 Introduction, basic characteristics Euro-2500T © Elcom Ltd. 2.8 Use and storage of thermal paper 2.9. Use and storage of thermal paper The printer of the Euro-2500T cash register prints on 54 mm (2.12) wide paper. Journal paper storage recommendations: - do not expose thermal paper to direct light, - store at temperature not higher than 40°C, - avoid contact of the thermal paper with PVC, mollificators, organic solvents or glue. It is necessary to use rolls of good quality paper. We recommend paper rolls made by Jujo Thermal Ltd. In the event of violating these use or storage recommendations, Elcom s.r.o. does not guarantee high quality printing or preservation of the printed data. If the red streak appears at the end of the paper ribbon, change this ribbon as soon as possible. If the ribbon is changed late it can cause printer damage, or decrease lifetime of the printer. 20 © Elcom Ltd. For example, RAMA butter -5, skimmed milk-23, Rum 0,5L-189 etc. Preprogrammed data concerning the articles - name, price, assignment to the department, etc. are preprogrammed in the cash register memory and linked to particular PLU numbers. By entering the PLU code and by pressing the button data is looked up automatically in the register memory and registered automatically. PLU registration permits the storing of information about the sale of each particular item, printing names of articles automatically on the receipt, printing the unit price automatically and assigning the transaction to department revenue. It also prevents mistakes in keyboard registration. The name of each item on the receipt the satisfies the customer`s wish for correctness of items purchased. By automatically calling preprogrammed data from the cash register memory, faster customer service and greater accuracy is provided. PLU registration makes it possible to get a clear overview of the sale of each particular item. With the aim of simplifying the sale of such items it is possible to program a single item PLU flag (see PLU programming). By entering the PLU number and pressing the button, the item is registered, the sale is automatically finished and the drawer opened. This PLU is called a single item PLU. In the example, the price 30,80 in PLU 4 is preprogrammed. Step No. 4 1. Use this function when a customer wants to purchase more or less than the base quantity of a loose item. Example: The price is determined for a packet of 5 pieces of the same goods (e.g. a box of cheese) at the price of 15,60Sk. The customer buys only 3 pieces. Thus, he is to pay three fifths of the unit price of the whole box (5 pieces). Step No. 1. 2. 3.
