CABLE PREPARATION
IMPORTANT: Typical lengths when using SCF-ST-126 splice trays are illustrated. Refer to the instruction provided
with your splice tray. Since the actual application may vary, it is recommended to route the
buffer tubes as they will lie in the terminal to determine actual strip length before cutting
fibers. Refer to routing illustrations, if necessary. Do not expose the bare fibers until after the
cable has been placed in the terminal end cap.
• For mid-span applications , remove the length of cable sheath and armor (where applicable) according to the manufacturer’s directions for the type of cable being installed.

Wrap yarn around stud.
Install nut and washer.
E Install restraint cap. Place central strength member between bracket and restraint cap.
• For all applications:
• Cut the rigid or central strength member of each cable to 15 cm (approximately 6 inches) from the sheath using side cutters.
• If aramid yarn is present, leave 15 cm (approximately 6 inches) for additional strain-relieving.
• Clean cable per manufacturer’s instructions.

HANG THE TERMINAL ON THE MESSENGER WIRE
• Open the terminal cover and remove it, if desired, by pressing the release lever. If removing the cover, temporarily secure it to the strand.

Discard paper inserts between the endcap halves.
D Break bead out of express port cone.
Install cable into port.

IMPORTANT: Do not use power tools to install the bracket kits to the terminal.
Doing so may crack the terminal.

RIBBON DISTRIBUTION FIBER INSTALLATION
Step 6 describes cable installation using ribbon cable spliced to a ribbon fanout assembly. If using loose-tube cable and splicing to connectorized pigtails, skip to Step 7.

Separate distribution fibers from the rest of the ribbon matrix.

INSTALL CONNECTORS INTO ADAPTERS
If you have installed a ribbon fanout assembly, insert connectors from the fanout body into the adapters now.
If you are ready to splice the loose-tube fibers to connectorized pigtails, mate the connectors on the pigtails into the adapters at this point.
A Clean adapters and connectors with the
Optical Access Cleaning Kit before mating.
Align key and insert connector into adapter.

Place ribbon in split grommet at the mark. Secure grommet to tray with cable tie.
