Essential Safety Precautions
DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, BURN OR EXPLOSION
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Be sure that power is not supplied to either unit prior to connecting the Cable.
Do not disassemble the Cable because high voltage runs through the Cable.
Do not use a power supply and/or voltage levels that are outside of the Cable’s
specified range.
Do not modify the Cable.
Do not use the Cable in a environment where flammable gasses are present.
Do not allow water, liquids, or metal particles to enter inside the Cable.
Follow the instructions in this manual to prevent cable damage.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death, serious injury or
equipment damage.
To Prevent Cable Damage
Since both ends of the Cable have 25-pin connectors, either connector can be attached to the PLC or to the XBTG. Therefore, be sure to check that
each connector is correctly attached to the specified unit. If the connectors are incorrectly connected, the Cable, XBTG unit or PLC can be damaged.
To prevent excessive heat from damaging the Cable, do not cover its cooling grooves. Heat can produce incorrect operations and unexpected
failures.
Do not use paint thinner or organic solvents to clean the Cable.
Do not install or store the Cable
• where the ambient temperature can exceed the allowed range.
• in locations with very high temperatures.
• in direct sunlight, in excessively dusty or dirty environments.
• where large, sudden temperature changes may occur. These changes may cause condensation, possibly causing a malfunction like an electric
short-circuit (refer to environmental specification below).
• where either strong shocks or excessive vibration may occur, since the Cable is a precision instrument.
• in an environment where it may be exposed to chemical vapors or fumes.

WARNING
HAZARD OF UNINTENDED EQUIPMENT OPERATION
• Grounding must be 100Ω or less, or your country’s applicable standard.
• Impulse noise or electromagnetic emissions may interfere with expected equipment
operation.
Failure to follow this instruction can result in death, serious injury, or
equipment damage.

CAUTION
RISK OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
•
•
Be sure to connect this Cable only to MITSUBISHI FX Series' PLC peripheral unit
(Programming Console I/F port) connector, and not to any other type of PLC.
When using this Cable, be sure to set the XBTG unit's OFFLINE mode "Initialize"
area's communication setting to "RS-232C".
Failure to follow this instruction can result in equipment damage.
(1) Confirm that power is turned OFF to the PLC and XBTG units.
(2) Check that a shorting plug has been attached to the XBTG unit interface circuit board’s SIO-VCC shorting pins (J2). If this plug is not attached,
attach it.
(3) Attach the SIO unit to the XBTG unit. Attach the connector labeled "XBTG" to the SIO interface (D-Sub 25-pin).
(4) Attach the connector labeled "PLC" to the MITSUBISHI PLC FX Series unit’s programming console connector (Programming Console I/F port’s
D-Sub 25-pin connector).
(5) Turn the PLC unit and XBTG unit’s power ON.
