ET dimmer insert for capacitive load

Operating instructions

Art. no. MTN577199

For your safety

¼

DANGER

Risk of fatal injury from electrical current.

All work on the device should only be carried out by trained and skilled electricians. The countryspecific regulations must be followed.

¼

DANGER

Risk of fatal injury from electrical current.

The outputs may carry an electrical voltage even when the dimmer is switched off. Always disconnect the fuse in the incoming circuit from the supply before working on connected loads.

ET dimmer insert introduction

Using the ET dimmer insert (referred to below as dimmer ) enables you to switch and dim the following ohmic and capacitive loads with a rotary knob:

– Incandescent lamps or halogen lamps 20 – 315 W

– Low-voltage halogen lamps with electronic transformers 20 – 315 W

The dimmer is overload-proof, short-circuit-proof and hum-free, and has a soft start function which softly dims up a connected load.

½

CAUTION

Malfunction of the device.

The dimmer requires a minimum load of 20 W for operation. The connected transformer load applies, regardless of the electrical load in the secondary circuit. If this is not reached, malfunctions may arise.

½

CAUTION

Damage to connected devices.

Connected devices can be damaged if you connect inductive loads (e.g. wound transformers).

| If you do not install the dimmer in a single, standard flush mounting box, the maximum permissible load is reduced as follows, due to the restricted heat dissipation:

* If several factors apply at once, add the load reductions together.

| Do not use dimmers on socket-outlets! The risk of overloading and the risk of unsuitable appliances being connected is too high.

Completing the dimmer

Complete the dimmer with a frame and a central plate for rotary dimmer inserts up to 600 VA (art. nos.

MTN5699.., MTN5670.. MTN5720..).

Installing the dimmer

¼

DANGER

Risk of fatal injury from electrical current.

The outputs may carry an electrical voltage even when the dimmer is switched off. Always disconnect the fuse in the incoming circuit from the supply before working on connected loads.

1 Wire up the dimmer for the application.

Applications:

– Dimmer as a one-way switch or instead of a twocircuit switch:

– Dimmer as a two-way switch:

| A neutral conductor is not required.

2 Installing the dimmer

Operating the dimmer

You can switch ( A ) and dim ( B ) the loads using the rotary knob.

What should I do if there is a problem?

The dimmer dims independently in the operating state or cannot be switched back on

Allow the dimmer to cool down and reduce the connected load.
