This instruction manual contains information about installation, operation and maintenance of the appliance and constitutes an important source of information and reference guide. However, the appliance may be a source of hazards if used improperly or contrary to its intended purpose. The symbol NOTE indicates subsequent information and guidelines for the user on usage of the appliance. 1.2 EN Safety instructions Electrical Current • • • • • • • • • • Too high a mains voltage or incorrect installation may cause electric shock. The appliance may be connected only if data on the rating plate correspond with the mains voltage. To avoid short-circuit, the appliance should be kept dry. If there are malfunctions during operation, disconnect the appliance from the power supply. Do not touch the appliance’s plug with wet hands. Never take hold of the appliance if it has fallen into water. Immediately disconnect the appliance from the power supply. Any repairs or housing opening may be carried out by professionals and relevant workshops only. Do not transport the appliance, holding it by the power cord. Do not allow the power cord to come into contact with heat sources or sharp edges. Do not bend, pinch nor knot the power cord. 200128 3 / 20 Safety • • • • Always completely unwind the power cord. Never place the appliance or other objects on the power cord. Always take hold of the plug to disconnect the appliance from the power supply. Check the power cord regularly for damage. Do not use the appliance if the power cord is damaged. If this cable is damaged, it must be replaced by customer service or a qualified electrician in order to avoid dangers. Flammable Materials • • • • • EN • • Never subject the appliance to contact with high temperature sources, e.g.: oven, furnace, open flame, heat generating devices, etc. To avoid fire hazard, clean the appliance regularly. Do not cover the appliance with, e.g., aluminium foil or cloths. Use the appliance only with materials designated to this end and with correct temperature settings. Materials, groceries and left-overs remaining in the appliance may catch fire. Never use the appliance near flammable or inflammable materials, e.g.: petrol, spirit, alcohol, etc. High temperature triggers evaporation of these materials, and, as a result of contact with sources of ignition, an explosion may occur. In case of fire, disconnect the appliance from the power supply before attempting suitable fire-extinguishing actions. Never attempt to extinguish fire with water if the appliance is connected to the power supply. Following extinction of fire, ensure sufficient fresh air inflow. Hot Surfaces • • • • Surfaces of the appliance become hot during operation. Burning hazard! High temperature remains for some time after switching the appliance off. This appliance is intended for use in households and similar places, e.g.: – in employee canteens in shops, offices, and similar areas; – on farms; – by customers in hotels, motels, and other typical accommodation establishments; – in lodging-houses. 1.4 EN Unintended Use An unintended use may lead to personal injuries or property damages caused by hazardous voltage, fire or high temperature. The appliance may only be used to perform tasks described in this instruction manual. If special models or additional options are ordered, or state-of-the-art technical solutions were implemented, the actual scope of delivery of the appliance may, in some circumstances, differ from descriptions and numerous drawings in this instruction manual. We may provide relevant Declaration of Conformity upon request. 200128 7 / 20 Transport, Packaging and Storage 3 Transport, Packaging and Storage 3.1 Delivery Check Immediately upon reception, check the delivery for completeness and possible shipping damage. In the case of visible transport damage refuse to accept the appliance or accept it conditionally. Mark and note the scope of damage in shipping documents/consignment list of the shipping company and lodge a complaint. Concealed damage must be reported immediately upon its discovery, as compensation claims may only be filed within applicable time limits. If you find that parts or accessories missing, please contact our Customer Service Department. 3.2 EN Packaging Do not dispose of the appliance cardboard box. It may be used to store the appliance when relocating or when shipping the appliance to our service point in the case of any damages. The packaging and its elements are made of recyclable materials. Particularly, these are: plastic films and bags, cardboard box. When disposing of the packaging, observe applicable domestic regulations. Recyclable packaging materials should be recycled. 3.3 Storage Leave the packaging closed until installation of the appliance; observe external indications concerning method of placing and storage. Store the packaging in the following conditions only: – in closed rooms; – in dry and dust-free surrounding; – away from aggressive agents; – in a location protected against sunlight; – in a location protected against mechanical shocks. In the case of extended storage (over three months), make sure you check the condition of the packaging and the parts regularly. Hot water tank fill level indicator 10 / 20 200128 Installation and operation 4.3 Functions of the Appliance The tea and hot water dispenser with a total capacity of 15 litres keeps both tea and hot water at the right temperature over a long period of time. Availability may be easily be monitored via two fill level indicators. 5 Installation and operation 5.1 Installation Positioning • Unpack the appliance, remove all external and internal packaging elements and shipment safeguards. CAUTION! Choking hazard! Prevent children from accessing package materials, for instance: plastic bags and EPS. EN • • • • • • If the appliance is covered with a protective film, remove it. Remove the film slowly, so no glue residues are left. Remove any glue residues with the use of a suitable solvent. Be careful not to damage the rating plate and warning labels fixed on the appliance. Never place the appliance in humid or wet environment. Place the appliance in a way making the connections easily accessible, so that they may be quickly disconnected if such a need arises. The appliance should be placed on surfaces that are: – even, with sufficient bearing capacity, resistant to water, dry and resistant to high temperatures; – sufficiently large, and thus enabling usage of the appliance with no problems; – easily accessible; – well ventilated. Maintain sufficient clearance from table edges. Power supply connection 200128 11 / 20 Installation and operation • • • Verify if technical data of the appliance (see rating plate) correspond with the local electric power grid specification. Connect the appliance to a single, properly grounded mains socket with protective contact. Do not connect the appliance to a multi-socket. The power cord should be laid in a way preventing anyone from threading on it or tripping against it. 5.2 Operation WARNING Risk of scalding! The water tank and the lid heat up considerably during operation. Do not touch the hot appliance. Risk of scalding! Hot steam coming out when the lid is removed may cause scalding of hands, arms and face. EN Never remove the lid when the appliance is operating. In order to add water, first switch the appliance off and then carefully remove the lid, using the lid handle. Overfilling may lead to hot water leaks and scalding! Observe the maximum filling volume! 12 / 20 200128 Installation and operation Before Use 1. Before use, clean the appliance observing instructions in section 6.2 'Cleaning'. WARNING! It is important that only fresh potable water is poured into the water tank. Do not fill the appliance with any non-potable liquids, like acids, lyes, oils, nitrates, etc.! NOTE! To reduce heating time and save energy, the tank may also be filled with hot water. This saves time and energy. 2. Pour required amount of fresh water into the water tank and tea brewer (only up to 'MAX' mark). 3. To prepare a tea essence in the appliance, put a required amount of leaf tea into the tea strainer and put the strainer in the tea brewer with integrated water tank. 4. Place the lid on the water tank. 5. To close the water tank rotate the lid clockwise, until the plastic parts of the lid lock in lid holders (rotary lock). 6. Fix the drip tray on the appliance base and insert the drip grate. Appliance Start-Up 7. Plug the appliance into a suitable single socket. 8. Switch the appliance on with the ON/OFF switch. The red power indicator light will be lit and will remain on during the entire working process. 9. Switch the control unit on with the ON/OFF switch. 10. Set the desired temperature and time using corresponding keys on the control unit. Observe indications in sections 'Operating Elements' and 'Settings'. The temperature control range is 20–100°C. SET key 21. Setting value decrease key 22. Setting value increase key Settings The appliance is started by pressing the ON/OFF switch on the control unit. The display shows the default temperature (68˚C) and the actual water temperature in the water tank. After 5 seconds, the default temperature (68˚C) and the default operating time of 3 hrs 30 mins appear. The appliance starts to heat up. To make changes to the temperature, operating time and time remaining to switching on, make the changes in the following order: Temperature Change 1. Press the 'SET' key to change the temperature setting. It is possible to set the temperature in the range of 20–100˚C. 14 / 20 200128 Installation and operation 2. Press the '+' key to increase the temperature and the '-' key to decrease the temperature. 3. Finally, press the 'SET' key to confirm the setting. Operating Time Change 1. Press the 'SET' key to change the operating time setting. The time may be set in the range of 0–24 hours. 2. Change the operating time hours using the '+' or '-' keys. 3. Finally, press the 'SET' key to confirm the setting. 4. Press the 'SET' key to change the minutes setting. 5. Finally, press the 'SET' key to confirm the setting. When the set time elapses, an acoustic signal will sound and the appliance will switch off. Time Remaining to Switching On 1. Press the 'SET' key to set the remaining time to switching on. 2. Using the '+' or '-' keys, select the desired time and, as long as the time indicator flashes, press the 'SET' key. The appliance will switch on after the pre-set remaining time to switching on. NOTE! The default setting for this function is 00:00. The remaining time to switching on can be set in the range of 0–24 hours. This setting can only be made for a single day and cannot be permanently stored or set as standard. Only hours can be set for this setting, with no option to set minutes. Example of the setting: Time remaining to switching on: 1 hour Temperature: 80˚C Operating time: 6 hours 30 minutes The appliance starts heating up after 1 hour. The water heats up to a pre-set temperature of 80˚C. When this temperature is reached, a countdown begins for the set time of six and a half hours. During the six and a half hours, the temperature in the water tank remains constant at 80˚C (±3˚C). When the temperature in the water tank drops by 3˚C, the appliance reheats the water to the set temperature until the set time has elapsed. 200128 15 / 20 EN Installation and operation Water Dispensing / Filling 1. Use hot water to prepare required beverages (tea, coffee, instant coffee, bouillon, etc.). 2. When preparing tea one must remember that brewing different types of tea requires various water temperatures. Follow the instructions on packages. 3. To dispense hot water or tea essence, put a suitable container (glass, cup or mug) underneath the right outlet tap. 4. To pour hot water, press down the left hot water outlet tap and hold it down until the container is filled with the desired amount of water. 5. Then, release the outlet tap. The outlet tap closes automatically. Fig. 3 EN 6. To prepare tea, pour in the desired amount of tea essence using the right tea outlet tap, then top up with hot water using the left outlet tap. 16 / 20 200128 Installation and operation 7. Check the filling level of the water tank and tea brewer when the appliance is in operation; the water level can be read from the respective fill level indicators. ATTENTION! Check the water level regularly to prevent appliance overheating. Never use the appliance without water. We recommend switching the appliance off when there are less than three cups of water in it. 8. Before refilling switch the appliance off. 9. Using the handles, remove the lid from the water tank carefully, by rotating it counter-clockwise. 10. Pour the required amount of water. 11. Re-insert the lid and close the water tank with the rotary lock. Switching the Appliance OFF 1. If the appliance is no longer used, ON/OFF switch should be set to the 'O' position. 2. Disconnect the appliance from the mains socket (pull the plug out). 200128 EN 17 / 20 Installation and operation Overheating/Dry-Run Protection The appliance is equipped with the overheating/dry operation protection. In the case of accidental start-up without water or with its insufficient amount, the protection will be activated and the appliance will be automatically switched off. To reset the appliance, perform the following steps: Fig. 4 EN 1. Disconnect the appliance from mains power supply. 2. Wait for the appliance to cool down. 3. Following the cooling phase empty the water tank. 4. Press the RESET key. The RESET key is located at the bottom side of the appliance. 5. Fill the water tank with fresh water. 6. Switch the appliance on as usual and check if the heating up indicator light will be lit. If the light will be lit, it means that the appliance is operating normally again. 7. If the indicator light is still not lit, pull the plug out and press the RESET key again. 8. Perform this process a few times more, until the appliance will be operating normally again. 9. If the appliance does not switch on again after pressing the RESET key several times, contact the service company for further verification. NOTE! The safety device may accidentally switch off during transport; if this happens, reset the thermal switch according to the instructions above. 18 / 20 200128 Cleaning and Descaling 6 Cleaning and Descaling 6.1 • • • • • Safety Instructions for Cleaning Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the power supply. Leave the appliance to cool down completely. Make sure water does not enter the appliance. Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids during cleaning. Do not clean the appliance with a pressurized water jet. Do not use any sharp or pointed, nor metal implements (knife, fork, etc.). Sharp or pointed implements may damage the appliance, and when in contact with live parts, they may cause electric shock. For cleaning, do not use any scouring agents that contain solvents nor corrosive cleaning agents. They may damage the surface. 6.2 Cleaning 1. Clean the appliance regularly after end of each working day, or more frequently if needed. 2. Remove the lid from the water tank and remove the tea strainer. 3. Remove the drip tray with drip grate from the appliance and empty them. 4. Clean the water tank and tea brewer thoroughly with warm water, a mild cleaning agent and a soft sponge or suitable dish-washing brush. 5. Rinse the water tank thoroughly with fresh water. 6. Clean the drain tap by running water through it. 7. Clean the lid, tea strainer and drip tray with drip grid under warm running water. 8. Wipe the exterior of the water tank and the base with a soft, damp cloth. 9. After cleaning, use a soft, lint-free cloth to dry thoroughly the appliance and the removed parts. 200128 19 / 20 EN Disposal 6.3 Descaling Inappropriate water may lead to scale deposits building up. Limestone deposits result in longer heating time and might cause damage to the appliance. NOTE: To avoid limestone deposits, it is recommended to use filtered water! ATTENTION! Lack of regular descaling of the appliance, as set forth in the instruction manual, may constitute a ground for rejecting warranty claims. Such claims are not covered by the warranty! Descale the appliance regularly! EN 1. Fill the water tank with fresh water, add vinegar or a commercially available descaling agent and boil the solution. Observe the instructions descaling agent’s manufacturer. 2. Run a portion of the solution through the drain tap in order to remove limestone deposits. 3. Boil the descaling solution again, at least 1 - 2 times. 4. Then leave the appliance to cool off for some time. 5. Remove the descaling solution after the procedure is finished. 6. Rinse the water tank thoroughly a few times with clean water. 7. Run clean water through the drain tap in order to remove any residues of the descaling solution. 7 Disposal Electrical Appliance Electric appliances are marked with this symbol. Electrical appliances must be disposed of and recycled in a correct and environmentally friendly manner. You must not dispose of electric appliances with household waste. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply and remove power cord from the appliance. Electrical appliances should be returned to designated collection points. 20 / 20 200128
