Vertical Xcelerator IP SIP Trunk Configuration Guide for CBeyond BeyondVoice with SIPconnect

Introduction

Configuring the Vertical Xcelerator IP for use with Cbeyond’s BeyondVoice® SIPconnect service offers significant cost savings as well as enhanced voice quality compared to using

PSTN trunks from the local incumbent telephone company.

SIPconnect is an industry standards approach to direct IP peering between IP-PBXs and

SIP service provider networks. If you would like more information about the SIPconnect

Interface Specification, which was defined by the SIP Forum in their Service Provider to IP

PBX Interoperability Task Group, see http://www.sipforum.org/sipconnect .

Pre-Requisites

• Please read this document carefully before beginning your install.

• Make sure you have the CBeyond SIP trunk account information handy.

• It is advisable to have attended a CBeyond training class for BeyondVoice configuration.

• The Xcelerator IP Firmware must be v1.5.11.1 or higher.

Constraints

• For best performance, fax machines should be directly attached to the analog ports on the CBeyond IAD.

• If configuring Xcelerator IP behind an existing firewall, please make sure you open and/ o r forward the appropriate ports on the firewall to the WAN interface of the Xcelerator IP.

Vertical strongly recommends the use of a SIP-aware firewall. Examples include devices from Intertex, Ingate, and SonicWall. For more information on configuring Xcelerator IP behind a firewall, please read the Xcelerator documentation.
