The KUID format in TRS2006 follows the standard adopted in TRS2004, and takes the form of three Identification Numbers (ID) each separated by a colon. The breakdown of the new KUID system is as follows:

Trainz recognises a number of Kinds of assets. Each Kind has different attributes, allowing different asset functions and behaviour to be recognised in the simulator. In creating a new asset, a suitable Kind must be chosen.

Each model asset that is created requires a config.txt file. This file is a simple text file that is used to describe the item of content to Trainz.
