This manual provides information related to the installation, operation, and application of this device� The individual reading this manual is presumed to have a basic understanding of telecommunications terminology and concepts�

If you find the product to be broken or malfunctioning, please contact Cell C technical support for assistance�

Important Safety Instructions

With reference to unpacking, installation, use and maintenance of your electronic device, the following basic guidelines are recommended:

• Do not use or install this product near water to avoid fire or shock hazard� For example: near a bathtub, kitchen sink or laundry tub, or near a swimming pool� Also, do not expose the equipment to rain or damp areas (e�g� a wet basement)�

• Do not connect the power supply cord on elevated surfaces� Allow it to lie freely� There should be no obstructions in its path and no heavy items should be placed on the cord� In addition, do not walk on, step on or mistreat the cord�

• Use only the power cord and adapter that are shipped with this device�

• To safeguard the equipment against overheating, make sure that all openings in the unit that offer exposure to air are not blocked�

• Disconnect the power line from the device before servicing�

Save Our Environment

When this equipment has reached the end of its useful life, it must be taken to a recycling centre and processed separate from domestic waste�

The cardboard box, the plastic contained in the packaging, and the parts that make up this router can be recycled in accordance with regionally established regulations� Never dispose of this electronic equipment along with your household waste� You may be subject to penalties or sanctions under the law� Instead, ask for disposal instructions from your municipal government�

Congratulations on purchasing a Cell C MyZone� Your MyZone is a mobile WiFi router with a built-in 3G modem and a rechargeable battery, integrated into one sleek credit card sized unit� It is designed for high mobility and a completely wireless experience�

The Cell C MyZone will give you the freedom to instantly create your own personal wireless hotspot and share your high-speed mobile broadband connection with other wireless-enabled devices�

Read this chapter for help getting started setting up and using your MyZone�

Getting Started

2.1 Network and System Requirements

Before continuing with the setup of your Myzone, please confirm that you comply with the minimum system requirements below�

• Activated SIM card

• Computer or smart phone with Windows, Nokia Symbian, Android, Macintosh or Linux-based operating systems with TCP/IP protocol installed and working IEEE 802�11g or IEEE 802�11b comliant wireless adapter

• Web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, Netscape Navigator etc�

2.2 Placement of your MyZone

Just like a mobile phone, the MyZone’s location will affect its signal strength from the mobile base station (cell tower)� The data speed achievable from the MyZone is relative to this signal strength, which is affected by many environmental factors� When choosing a location to place your MyZone, please keep in mind that the MyZone will need adequate signal strength in order to provide Internet connectivity�

Similarly, the wireless connection between your Myzone and your WiFi devices will be stronger the closer your connected devices are to your MyZone�

Your wireless connection and performance will degrade as the distance between your MyZone and connected devices increases� This may or may not be directly noticable, and is greatly affected by the individual setup environment�

If you have concerns about your network’s performance that might be related to range or obstruction factors, try moving the computer (or Wifi device) to a position between 3 to 5 metres from your MyZone in order to see if distance is the problem� If difficulties persist even at close range, please contact Technical Support�

NOTE: While some of the items listed below can affect network performance, they will not prohibit your wireless network from functioning; if you are concerned that your network is not operating at its maximum effectiveness, this checklist may help.

NOTE: It is highly recommended that the MyZone must be kept at least 20cm distances away from human body.

(This is a regulatory requirement and applies to all 3G / Wifi capable devices meeting standard regulatory compliance - See the section on Safety and Legal Information for more information).

Place your MyZone as close as possible to the centre of your wireless network devices� To achieve the best wireless network coverage for your

“wireless clients” (i�e� computers with built-in or USB wireless adapters, laptops with built-in wireless, wireless PDA / iPhone, wirless enabled gaming consoles etc):

• Ensure that your MyZone is positioned vertically.

• In multi-storey homes, place your MyZone on a floor that is as close to the centre of the home as possible. This may mean placing your

MyZone on an upper floor.

• Try not to place your MyZone near a cordless telephone that operates at the same radio frequency as the MyZone (2.4GHz).

2.3 Avoid obstacles and interferences

Avoid placing your MyZone near devices that may emit radio “noise,” such as microwave ovens� Dense objects that can inhibit wireless communication include:

• Refrigerators

• Washers and/or dryers

• Metal cabinets

• Large aquariums

• Metallic-based, UV-tinted windows

If your wireless signal seems weak in some spots, make sure that objects such as these are not blocking the signal’s path (between your devices and your MyZone)�

2.4 Cordless Phones

If the performance of your wireless network is impaired after considering the above issues, and you have a cordless phone:

• Try moving cordless phones away from your MyZone and your wireless-enabled computers�

• Unplug and remove the battery from any cordless phone that operates on the 2�4GHz band (check manufacturer’s information)� If this fixes the problem, your phone may be interfering with the Wifi of your MyZone�

• If your phone supports channel selection, change the channel on the phone to the farthest channel from your wireless network� For example, change the phone to channel 1 and set your MyZone to channel 11� See your phones user manual for detailed instructions�

• If necessary, consider switching to a 900MHz or 5GHz cordless phone�

2.5 Choose the “Quietest” Channel for your Wireless Network

In locations where homes or offices are close together, such as apartment buildings or office complexes, there may be wireless networks nearby that can conflict with your wireless network�

Use the site survey capabilities found in the wireless utility of your wireless adapter to locate any other wireless networks that are available

(see your wireless adapter’s user manual), and switch your MyZone and computers to a channel as far away from other networks as possible�

Hint: Most Wifi routers set their Wireless G networks to channel 6� Changing the channel to something other than 6 may help improve your wireless network performance�

• Experiment with more than one of the available channels, in order to find the clearest connection and avoid interference from neighbouring cordless phones or other wireless devices�

2.6 LED Indicators, Inputs and Outputs

The LED indicator display visible on the front of the MyZone provides with status information� See below for an explanation of both the indication lights�

Power Status Light

The power status light shows you the status of the built-in battery and also tells you whether the device is booting or charging�

Internet Connection Light

Once connected, the Internet LED will flash constantly to indicate data transfer� If the LED is not illuminated there is no Internet connection available�

SIM Card Slot

Insert your SIM card as shown below (push to lock, push to release)� Please make sure you insert your SIM card in the correct orientation by checking the SIM icon next to the SIM slot�

To insert the SIM Card into the MyZone, first you move the stand out of your way by pushing it away with your fingernail�

Once you have pushed the stand out of the way, you will notice a small indent under the SIM Card cover�

Slide your fingernail into the indent to remove the SIM Card cover�

Once you have lifted the SIM Card cover you can then insert your SIM

Card into the SIM Card slot as shown on you MyZone�

Micro USB Socket

The Micro USB socket allows you to charge the MyZone when plugged into the power adapter or any USB port on your computer�

Power Switch

Slide and hold the switch to power up your MyZone until the power light illuminates� For power down, hold the switch for 3-5 seconds until the power light changes color�

2.7 Getting Online in 5 Minutes

Note: Please ensure you charge your MyZone fully for at least 8 hours before using it without the USB cable connected to a power source.

1� Insert your SIM (and connect the USB cable to a power source if the battery is running low)� Power on the MyZone by sliding down the power switch until the power status light illuminates�

2� On your Laptop/Computer/Smartphone/iPhone, scan for the following wireless network name (SSID) – “Cell C MyZone�”

3� Connect wirelessly to the MyZone using “password” as your initial security key�

4� Don’t forget to personalize the SSID and the security key of your MyZone from the defaults to help ensure security on your network� Open your browser and type http://my.zone into the location bar to bring up the Myzone Configuration Manager where you can configure the 3G, WiFi and router settings of your MyZone as well as advanced status information�

5� Authentication can be achieved via the MyZone Configuration Manager using the default User Name and Password (admin/admin) and click submit�

If successful the MyZone Configuration Manager will appear in your browser as shown below�

6� Click on the ‘Wireless’ tab to configure your wireless security settings� In the field SSID enter your new name� In the field WPA Pre-Shared

Key enter your new personalized security key� Choose a mix of upper and lower case letters as well as numbers to compose a strong security key� Confirm the new key in the second field and click the ‘Save’ button to save your new settings�

Note: Inserting or removing the SIM card from the unit while it is ON will reboot your MyZone.

7� Click on the ‘Account’ tab to perform tasks relating to your Cell C mobile account

From this tab you are able to do the following:

• Check your current mobile account balance

• Recharge your mobile account credit

• Purchase data bundles

• Check your mobile account customer information

• Access your mobile account settings

• Send an SMS

• Check your SMS inbox

• Check your SMS outbox

Click on the appropriate button to perform your chosen task�

Click on the ‘Applications’ tab to access links to some commonly used websites� The following websites are available at the click of a button:

• The Cell C website

• Google

• Facebook

• Wikipedia

• Twitter

• The News24 website

You can also send an email (via your installed email application) or perform a speed test on your current Internet connection�

Click the icon corresponding to the website you would like to visit or the task to perform

2.8 Further Configuration and Reset

The MyZone has been designed to work with minimal user configuration� However if you would like to set any advanced options this can be done using the browser based Advanced View in the MyZone Configuration Manager�

Advanced Settings

To access the advanced menu:

• click on ‘Switch to Advanced View’ located at the bottom of the configuration interface�

• The login screen of the advanced user interface will then be displayed�

Enter the default User Name and Password (admin/admin) and click submit to login�

Learning more about the status of your MyZone

After logging in to the Advanced View of the MyZone Configuration Manager as described above, click on the status tab to learn more about the connection and battery status of your MyZone�

Changing wireless settings

After logging in to the web configuration as described above, click on the wireless tab to modify your network name, password or encryption strength�

Save your settings by clicking the Save/Apply button�

Setting a custom APN or other 3G Network settings

After logging in to the web configuration as described above, click on the 3G Settings tab to modify 3G network settings� Don’t forget to save your changes by clicking the Save/Apply button�

Reset to factory defaults

If you make any errors the MyZone can be reset to factory defaults by sliding and holding the power switch for 10 seconds

Hardware Reset

In the unlikely event that something goes wrong and your Myzone requires a hardware reboot, you can reset the device rather than waiting for the battery to flatten� To achieve this, use a pen or other pointed object to briefly depress the small button next to the SIM slot (behind the rubber cap)�

Checking the 3G Status

1� Login to the MyZone Basic Configuration Manager as previously described, click on the ‘Status’ tab�

2� Check the 3G connection status, signal strength, SIM status and battery level of your MyZone�

3� If you have 3G reception, the 3G Auto-Connect feature (default setting) should have your MyZone connected to the internet within 2-5 minutes after powering up your MyZone�

You should now be connected to the Internet� If your MyZone has not connected to your provider, please complete the following steps�

3G Network Settings

After logging in to the configuration interface, click on the ‘APN/SIM’ tab to modify 3G network settings�

If SIM Status is ‘not connected’ as seen on the Status page, then you may need to enter an APN (Access Point Name)�

Note: Your APN Access Point Name is the 3G mobile broadband network name that is used to identify your 3G mobile broadband service provider. The default APN setting is: ”internet”. If you require a different APN or are unable to connect with the default APN, please contact Cell C Technical Support.

If your SIM Card was supplied with a PIN, enter it in the respective field and confirm your PIN settings and select ‘Remember PIN’ if you want the PIN stored on the device�

Save your settings by clicking the ‘Save’ button�

YOUR MYZONE WILL NOW CONNECT TO THE INTERNET!

MyZone Configuration Manager

MyZone Configuration Manager

This section of the user guide will show you step by step how to connect to the wireless network of the MyZone and to the MyZone Configuration Manager�

Search for Wireless (WiFi) networks from your laptop, computers, smart phones or any device that has WiFi capabilities� Make sure that WiFi has been enabled on the device you’re using to connect to your MyZone� For example, laptops usually have a manual button to turn Wifi on or off� Please turn it on�

NOTE: It is recommended that yu change your password to something other than the default to avoid unwanted users connecting to your network. Refer to section 3.4.2,

‘Changing the Wireless Settings’ to see how you can change your Wireless password

3.1 Connecting to your MyZone Network in Mac OS X

Follow these steps to connect your MAC OS computer to your MyZone network�

• Click on the ‘Apple’ icon at the top left corner of your screen

• Click on the ‘Airport’ icon at the top left hand corner of your screen and click on ‘Cell C MyZone’ network listed

• Enter the password which is ‘password’�

The ‘AirPort’ icon should indicate you are now connected to your MyZone wireless network�

Open your web browser and type in http://my�zone to the adress bar at the top of the page to access your device

3.2 Connecting to your MyZone Network from a Windows PC

Windows Vista/7

• Go to the Control Panel on your computer�

• Then click on the ‘Network and Internet’ selection from the Control Panel window�

• Select the ‘Connect to a network’ option� You will see a selection of wireless networks pop-up at the bottom right hand side of your screen�

• Look for a wireless network named ‘Cell C MyZone’ from the selection and click on it

• Click on the ‘Connect’ button at the bottom of the window

• Enter the default security key which is ‘password’ and click on the ‘OK’ button

NOTE: If you see a screen pop-up that asks you to select your location, please choose the ‘Home’ option.

The network icon at the bottom right hand side of your screen should indicate you are currently connected to the MyZone wireless network�

Open your web browser and type in http://my�zone to the address bar at the top of the page to access your device�

Windows XP

• Go to Control Panel on your computer�

• Then click on the ‘Network Connections’ icon from the Control Panel window�

• Right click on the “Wireless Network Connection” icon and then left click on “View Available Wireless Networks”�

• Look for a wireless network named ‘Cell C MyZone’ from the selection and click on it�

• Click on the ‘Connect’ button at the bottom of the window�

• Enter the default security key which is ‘password’ and click on the ‘OK’ button�

The network icon at the bottom right hand side of your screen should indicate you are currently connected to the MyZone wireless network�

Open your web browser and type in http://my�zone to the address bar at the top of the page to access your device�

3.3 Settings in the MyZone Configuration Manager

To access the MyZone Configuration Manager open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and type

http://my.zone

in the address bar at the top of the page and hit the Enter key.

3.3.1 Login

You will now see the ‘Status’ page of the MyZone Configuration Manager (see image below). The ‘Status’ page shows you the Battery level, 3G Signal strength, 3G Connection status, Provider and SIM Status

The first step in configuring your MyZone is to login to the device� Click on the ‘Login’ tab under the Status tab� You will see the following Login screen�

You will need to enter the default Login username and passwords –

• Username – admin

• Password – admin

Once you have logged in successfully, you may begin configuring the basic features of your MyZone (for more advanced features look at the section under ‘Advanced Settings’)� In addition to the ‘Status’ menu, you will now see a ‘Wireless’, ‘APN/SIM’, ‘Account’ and ‘Application’ tabs�’

3.3.2 Changing the Wireless Settings

In the Wireless menu, change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) from the default ‘Cell C MyZone’ to something more personal� Similarly you should personalise the wireless security key (WPA Pre Shared Key)� The default security key which is ‘password�’

Once you’ve completed all the settings, click on ‘Save’ to store the settings on to the device�

3.3.3 Service Provider/ 3G Carrier Settings

Under the ‘APN/SIM’ menu you can configure your 3G mobile broadband details�

By default, the MyZone is configured to connect to the Cell C APN (internet)�

This means that once you’ve inserted the SIM you should see the 3G Internat connection LED turn ON after 1-5 minutes

If you need to utilise a different APN, please enter the APN name manually in the ‘Custom APN’ field�

Note: You will need the Access Point Name (APN) from your service provider plus any username, password, or other information they may have given you.

If your SIM has a PIN number please enter the PIN number in the ‘PIN’ and ‘Confirm PIN’ fields� Click the remember PIN option if you want to avoid entering the PIN number each time you want to use the device�

Once you’ve completed all the settings, click on ‘Save’ to store the settings on to the device�

3.3.4 Mobile Account Information and Tasks

Under the ‘Account’ tab you can perform tasks relating to your Cell C mobile account�

The following mobile account related tasks are available:

• Check your current mobile account balance�

• Recharge your mobile account credit�

• Purchase data bundles�

• Check your mobile account customer information�

• Access your mobile account settings�

• Send an SMS�

• Check your SMS inbox�

Check your SMS outbox�

Click on the appropriate button to perform your chosen task�

3.3.5 Common Applications

The ‘Applications’ tab provides links to some commonly used websites� The following websites are available at the click of a button:

• The Cell C website

• Google

• Facebook

• Wikipedia

Twitter

The News24 website

You can also send an email (via your installed email application)or perform a speed test on your current Internet connection�

Click the icon corresponding to the website you would like to visit or the task to perform�

Advanced Settings

To go to the Advanced Settings make sure you have logged in to the MyZone Configuration Manager (refer to the MyZone Configuration Manager section previous)� Once you have logged in to the MyZone Configuration Manager, click on the ‘Switch to Advanced View’ tab at the bottom left of the window as shown below to take you to the Advanced Menu�

4.1. Status Menu

You are now in the Advanced Menu and may begin configure the advanced features of your MyZone�

To return to the basic settings page, click on the “Home” link on the menu at the top of the window�

There are 4 main categories on the status page of the advanced menu –

• System Information: This section shows you the system up time, router version and phone module version� Under ‘Router Version’ you will see‘Hardware’ and a ‘Software’ section� For all future software updates please make sure you check the software version before you perform an upgrade�

• WWAN (3G): This section shows you the details of your 3G connection� It shows your status, APN (Access Provider Network) and your

IP address�

• Connection Status: This section shows you more details on your connection such as your provider, IMEI (International Mobile Equipment

Identity), signal strength and your SIM status�

• Battery Status: This section shows your battery status� It tells you what percentage of your battery life remains and whether it is currently charging or not�

Note: If you would like to return to the basic interface of the MyZone Manager at any point, please click on the ‘Home’ tab at the top left of the Advanced Menu page.

4.2. WWAN (3G)

Under the WWAN (3G) menu you have 4 sub-sections – Connection, Band/Provider, SIM Security and USSD�

These pages enable you to configure your SIM and 3G mobile broadband connection settings�

4.2.1. Connection

This page allows you to setup your WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) connection� Your MyZone is designed to automatically connect to the Cell C mobile broadband network� This means that once you have inserted your SIM card and turned the power on, your MyZone should be connected to the

3G network within 1-5 minutes�

Once connected the 3G LED on the MyZone will be blinking green�

If you can’t connect to your 3G network, perform the following steps to set up your 3G connection manually:

• Profile Name: Select one of the Custom connection profiles from the ‘Profile Name’ drop down menu� You can also enter a name for your connection in the ‘Profile Name’ field�

Note: Before you begin configuring a custom connection profile you must disable ‘Auto Connect’ in the ‘Cell C’ profile. Simply select the ‘Cell C’ profile from the ‘Profile

Name’ drop down menu and then click on the ‘Disable’ option for ‘Auto Connect’. Click the Save button at the bottom of your screen to apply your changes.

• APN Name: Enter the APN name for your 3G network as provided by service provider�

• Username: Enter your 3G username, as provided by service provider�

• Password: Enter your 3G password�

• Auto Connect: Enable this option if you want your MyZone to automatically connect to your service provider when it is turned ON�

• Authentication type: Enter your 3G authentication type used by your 3G service provider�

• Reconnect delay: Enter the number of seconds you want to wait before the MyZone reconnects to the 3G network, after every connection drop�

• Reconnect Retries: Enter the number of times you want your MyZone to attempt a reconnect to the 3G network� ‘0’ means unlimited reconnect retries�

• Metric: Enter a metric value for your 3G route�

• NAT Masquerading: Enable or disable NAT Masquerading on your MyZone�

Once you’ve completed your WWAN (3G) connection settings, click the ‘Save’ button to store your settings�

4.2.2. Band/Provider

In this section, you can view and select the different networks and frequency bands that your provider offers� It is highly recommended that you leave the ‘All Band (Autoband)’ option selected�

4.2.3. SIM Security

If your SIM has a PIN number associated with it, you must complete this section�

SIM Status: This field shows you your SIM Status�

1� Number of Retries Remaining: This field shows you the number of retries remaining if you enter the PIN code of your SIM card incorrectly�

2� PIN: Enter the PIN code for your SIM card�

3� Confirm PIN: Re-enter the same PIN code to confirm�

4� Remember PIN: Click on ‘Enable’ if you would like your MyZone to save your PIN number� This will save you having to log in to the MyZone and entering the PIN, every time you turn your MyZone ON�

5� PIN Protection: This field allows you to change the PIN settings on your SIM card� You can enable, disable and change your PIN from this field�

Once you’ve completed your SIM security settings, click on the ‘Save’ button to store your settings�

4.2.4. Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)

USSD is a realtime messaging service usually utilised to perform mobile account related tasks such as the following:

• Checking available credit for a mobile service account�

• Obtaining more credit for a mobile service account�

• Verifying your mobile account information�

Please contact Cell C support for more information on available USSD commands for your particular service�

4.3. Wireless LAN

In this section you can configure your Wireless LAN and view station information�

4.3.1 Configuration

In this section you can configure the following parameters:

• WLAN Configuration: You can change the IP address and the subnet mask of your MyZone� The default IP address is 192�168�10�50 and the default subnet mask is 255�255�255�0

• DNS Masquerade: Enable or disable DNS Masquerade�

• Wireless Setup: Select the country in which you are using your MyZone from the drop down list� Under the frequency (channel), select a frequency channel that you think is most suitable in your surroundings�

• Security Settings: You can change your default WiFi security settings in this section�

• SSID: Enter a name for your WiFi network�

• Network Authentication: WPA-PSK is the default security and offers a medium level of security. Select WPA-PSK from the drop • down list and enter a WPA Pre-Shared Key�

Once you have completed your security settings, please make sure you click ‘Save’ to store those settings� At any point you can click on the ‘Click here to display ‘option’ to see your WiFi password�

Note: Making changes to any of the WiFi parameters will reboot your MyZone. If your MyZone does not reboot, please restart your MyZone manually.

4.3.2. Station Info

Under this section, you can see the number of devices currently connected to your MyZone and their MAC address, Host Name and IP address�

4.4. Services

Under the Services tab, you can configure the DHCP, Routing, DDNS, NTP, System Monitor and SMS settings�

4.4.1. DHCP

You can configure your DHCP settings in this section -

• DHCP: You can enable (default) or disable the DHCP option�

• DHCP Start Range: Enter the first IP address for the DHCP range�

• DHCP End Range: Enter the last IP address for the DHCP range�

• DHCP Lease Time: Enter the time (seconds) you would like to allocate IP address leases for� After the lease time expires, the IP addresses will automatically refresh�

• Default Domain Name Suffix: Enter a default domain name suffix (optional)�

• DNS Server 1 IP Address: Enter the primary DNS server IP address�

• DNS Server 2 IP Address: Enter an alternative DNS server IP address�

• WINS Server 1 IP Address: Enter the primary WINS server IP address�

• WINS Server 2 IP Address: Enter an alternative WINS server IP address�

• NTP Server (Option 42): Enter the address of an NTP server to supply to DHCP clients�

• TFTP Server (Option 66): Enter the address of a TFTP server to supply to DHCP clients�

• Option 150: Enter the address of a TFTP server for VOIP based DHCP clients�

• Option 160: Enter the address of a HTTPS provisioning server for VOIP based DHCP clients�

Address Reservation List: You can reserve and assign IP addresses to specific computer either based on their ‘computer name’ or ‘MAC addresses’ or both� Click on ‘Add’ to add devices to the list�

Dynamic DHCP Client List: This list shows you the details of the devices that are currently connected to your MyZone� It shows you their name, MAC address, IP address and Expiry time�

• To add a computer or device from the Dynamic DHCP Client List to the Address Reserved List, click on the ‘Clone’ button to the right of the ‘Expire Time’ column�

DHCP Relay Configuration: To configure DHCP Relay, click on the DHCP Relay Configuration tab on the top left hand side above the DHCP

Configuration settings� This will bring up the DHCP relay section where you can enable DHCP relay and add the server address�

Once you’ve completed your settings on this page, click on ‘Save’ to store the settings�

4.4.2. Static

This section allows you to configure Static Routes –

• Route no: Enter a number for your route

• Route Name: Enter a name for your route

• Destination IP address: Enter the destination IP address for your route

• IP subnet mask: Enter the subnet mask for your route

• Gateway IP Address: Enter the default gateway IP address for your route

• Metric: Enter a metric for your route� The lower metric value routes get preference over higher metric value routes�

Once you have entered the above parameters, click on the ‘Add’ button to add the static route� You should now see your route as a static route table entry�

4.4.3. Routing RIP

This section allows you to enable a Dynamic Routing Protocol� The dynamic routing protocols supported on your MyZone are the RIP version 1 and RIP version 2� RIP or Routing Information Protocol is a dynamic routing protocol used in local and wide area networks�

To enable RIP, follow these steps –

RIP Enable: Click on ‘enable’ to turn on RIP

Version: RIP has 2 versions – 1 or 2� Version 1 is the older dynamic routing protocol based on Class based IP addressing� Version 2 is the newer version of RIP that understands Classless IP addressing� It is highly recommended that you use Version 2 of RIP�

Once you have completed your settings, click on ‘Save RIP’ to store the settings�

4.4.4 Routing NAT

This section allows you to configure your NAT (Network Address Translation)� The NAT function is used to map an internal private IP address and port number(s) to a global public IP address and port number(s)�

To configure your NAT, follow these steps –

1� Mapping no: Enter a number to identify your private – public IP address mapping�

2� Protocol: Select the protocol for which you want the mappings to apply� You can choose TCP, UDP or all�

3� Source IP Address: Enter the source IP address� This is typically your private IP address

4� Incoming Port Range: Enter the incoming port number range�

5� Destination IP Address: Enter the destination IP address� This is typically your public IP address which is allocated by your 3G provider�

6� Destination Port Range: Enter the destination port number range�

Once you have completed your settings, click on ‘Save NAT’ to store the settings�

DMZ Configuration

If you have a client PC that cannot run an Internet application (e�g� Games) properly from behind the NAT firewall, then you can open up the firewall restrictions to allow unrestricted two-way Internet access by defining a DMZ Host� The DMZ function allows you to re-direct all packets going to your

WAN port IP address, to a particular IP address in your LAN�

To configure your DMZ, follow these steps –

1� DMZ Settings: Click on ‘enable’ to turn ON this feature�

2� DMZ IP Address: Enter the IP address you would like to place in your DMZ�

Once you have completed your settings, click on ‘Save DMZ’ to store the settings�

4.4.5. DDNS

This section allows you to configure DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name Service)� DDNS allows you to map a domain name to a dynamic IP address�

To use this feature, you must sign up for an account from a DDNS service provider� The list of supported DDNS service providers is provided in a drop down selection�

To configure DDNS, follow these steps –

1� DDNS Configuration: Click ‘enable’ to turn ON the DDNS feature�

2� Server Address: Select a server from the drop down list�

3� Host Name: Enter your host name�

4� Username: Enter your username�

5� Password: Enter your password�

6� Verify Password: Re-enter the same password that you typed in the password field�

Once you completed your settings, click on ‘Save’ to store the settings�

4.4.6. NTP

This section allows you to configure your NTP (Network Time Protocol) settings� The NTP settings allow your router to synchronise its internal clock with the global Internet Time� These settings will affect functions such as System Log entries and Firewall settings�

Follow these steps to configure NTP –

1� Enable NTP server: Enable your NTP server�

2� NTP Server Address: Enter your NTP server address�

Once you’ve completed your settings, click on ‘Save’ to store them�

4.4.7. System Monitor

This section allows you to set up System Monitoring on your MyZone�

The Periodic Ping Reset Monitor configures the MyZone to transmit controlled ping packets to a user specified IP addresses� If the router does not receive a response to the pings the router will reboot�

The purpose of this feature is to ensure recovery of the device if the internet connection disconnects and then does not reconnect for some reason�

This feature works as follows:- a. Every “Periodic Ping Timer” value in seconds, the MyZone sends 3 consecutive pings to the “Destination Address”. b. If all 3 pings fail the MyZone sends 3 consecutive pings to the “Second Address”. c. The MyZone then sends 3 consecutive pings to the “Destination Address” and 3 consecutive pings to the “Second Address” every

“Periodic Ping Accelerated Timer” seconds. d. If all accelerated pings in step C fail, the MyZone reboots after waiting the amount of time entered in the “Fail Count” times. e. If any of the pings succeed, the MyZone returns to step A and does not reboot.

The Periodic Ping Timer should never be set to a value less than 60 seconds; this is to allow the MyZone time to reconnect to the 3G network following a reboot�

To disable the Periodic Ping Reset Monitor simply set to “Fail Count” 0

The MyZone can also be configured to automatically reboot on a periodic interval specified in minutes� While this is not necessary, it does ensure that in the case of remote installations it will reboot the MyZone if some error occurs�

The default value is 0 (with the Periodic Reset Timer disabled)� The maximum value is 65535 minutes

To configure System Monitoring follow these steps –

1� Destination Address: Enter the destination address you would like to test�

2� Second Address: Enter a secondary destination address you would like to test�

3� Periodic PING Timer: Enter a value for the PING timer in seconds�

4� Periodic PING Accelerated Timer: Enter a value for the PING accelerated timer in seconds�

5� Fail Count: Enter a fail count�

6� Force reset every: Enter a value to force a reset in minutes�

Once you’ve completed your settings, click on ‘Save’ to store them�

4.4.8. SMS

The SMS section includes basic SMS functionality such as sending a message, receiving a message and redirecting an incoming message to another destination�

Basic functionality supported:

• Ability to send a text message via a 3G network and store in permanent storage

• Ability to receive a text message via a 3G network and store in permanent storage

• Ability to forward incoming text messages via a 3G network to another remote destination which may be a TCP/UDP server or other mobile devices�

General SMS functionality is enabled by default� You can open the Setup page in order to configure additional settings� To do this, click on “Services”, then “SMS” and then “Setup”�

SMS Configuration for Redirection

Incoming text messages can be redirected to another mobile device and/or a TCP/UDP message server�

Redirect To Mobile

You can forward incoming text messages to a different destination number� This destination number can be another mobile phone or 3G router phone number� To disable the feature, simply delete the number in the ‘Redirect To Mobile” field and click the “Save” button�

For Example: If someone sends a text message and Redirect To Mobile is set to “0412345678”, this text message is stored on the router and forwarded to “0412345678” at the same time�

Redirect to TCP & TCP Port, Redirect to UDP & UDP Port

You can also forward incoming text messages to a TCP/UDP based destination� The TCP or UDP server can be any kind of public or private server if the server accepts incoming text-base message�

The TCP/UDP address can be an IP address or domain name� The port number range is from 1 to 65535� Please refer to your TCP/UDP based SMS server configuration for which port to use�

For Example: If someone sends a text message and Redirect To TCP is set to “192�168�20�3” and “2002”, this text message is stored in the router and forwarded to “192�168�20�3” on port “2002” at the same time�

Number of Messages / Page: Enter the number of SMS messages to display per page�

Redirect to Mobile: Forward incoming text messages to the remote destination defined�

Redirect to TCP: Forward incoming text messages to the remote TCP destination defined�

TCP Port to redirect: The TCP port on which to connect to the remote destination on�

Redirect to UDP: Forward incoming text messages to the remote UDP destination defined�

UDP Port to redirect: The UDP port on which to connect to the remote destination on�

Enable Remote Diagnostics: Enable diagnostics to be performed by a specially crafted SMS message�

Compose an SMS

An SMS message can be sent to multiple recipients at the same time� After sending the message, the result is displayed next to the destination number as “Success” (in blue) or “Failure” (in red)�

By default 10 recipient entry fields are shown on this page however you can increase or decrease this number by pressing the + or – button at right side of the last recipient entry field�

You can select to enable or disable individual message recipients by selecting the checkbox beside each entered number�

After entering the appropriate recipient numbers, type your SMS message in the “Message Body” field and then click the “Send” button�

SMS Inbox/Outbox

You can check or forward all sent SMS messages in the SMS Outbox or you can read, delete, reply or forward an SMS message to another mobile device from the SMS Inbox�

SMS Inbox

The SMS inbox contains all incoming SMS messages received by the MyZone� To read an SMS, left click on the message itself and a window will pop up displaying the contents of the message� Alternatively, put a tick in the checkbox next to the message if you would like to reply, delete or forward the received SMS�

SMS Outbox

The SMS outbox contains all SMS messages sent by the MyZone� To read a previously sent SMS, left click on the message itself and a window will pop up displaying the contents of the message� Alternatively, put a tick in the checkbox next to the message if you would like to delete or forward the received SMS

4�5� System

This section allows you to configure System level parameters such as logs, administration, logoff and rebooting your MyZone�

4.5.1. Log

This section allows you to view your System logs� You can view all the logs or filter them from the drop down box�

4.5.2. Settings

This section allows you to save your current configuration settings, restore a previously saved backup of the configuration settings and restore factory defaults

Save a copy of the current settings: If you want to password protect your backed up settings file, enter the password you would like to use in both the password and confirm password fields and click Save.

(A password is not required, however this can protect your configuration from unauthorised use)

Restore saved Settings: If you want to restore a previously backed up configuration, click the browse button and locate the backup file on your computer. Once you have selected it, click the “Restore” button.

Restore Factory Defaults: Click the “Restore” button if you would like to reset the MyZone to factory defaults.

4.5.3. Administration

This section allows you to enable remote administration, change your ‘admin’ level password or change the language in use on the MyZone configuration pages

1� Language Settings: Click the drop down menu to select to use either English or Arabic on the MyZone�Remote Administration Port: Enter the port number that you want to enable for remote administration�

2� Remote Administration: Click ‘enable’ to turn on remote administration

3� Remote Administration Port: Enter the port number that you want to enable for remote administration�

4� Admin Password: Enter a new admin password in this field to change it�

5� Confirm Password: Re-enter the new password to confirm�

Once you’ve completed your settings, click on ‘Save’ to store them�

4.5.4. Logoff

To log out of your MyZone at any point, click on the Logoff tab under System� Once you’ve logged off you will need to re-enter your username and password to log back in�

4.5.5. Reboot

This section allows you to reboot your MyZone� Please note that it will take approximately 90 seconds for your MyZone to restart� Any settings you haven’t saved will be lost�

Before the reboot initialises you will be asked to confirm your action�

To proceed, click on the ‘OK’ button�

Troubleshooting

Are you having trouble connecting wirelessly?

1� Make sure that the Wifi device you are using to connect to the MyZone is turned ON� For example, most laptops have a manual Wifi ON/OFF button that is typically located to the front or the side of the laptop, depending on the brand�

2� Ensure that the MyZone is turned ON and that the Wifi LED is blinking (working on battery) or steady (charging)�

3� Search for Wireless Network ‘Cell C MyZone’ and make sure you enter the right password which is ‘password�’

4� Make sure DHCP is turned ON correctly on your Wifi device�

Are you having trouble accessing the Internet?

1� Make sure the SIM is inserted correctly� Check the SIM direction on the left side of the MyZone for reference�

2� Check to ensure that the 3G LED is blinking correctly� Refer to the table on ‘Deciphering the Blinking Coloured Lights�’

3� If you are using a Prepaid SIM, make sure that the SIM carries sufficient credit�
