: instrument foot switch now available as a repair-exchange part

With immediate effect, the instrument foot switch is now available as a repair-exchange part. Irrespective of which foot switch you send in, you will receive in exchange the new version with the built-in spray indicator (which is fitted as standard to all new foot switches).

Customers who own a foot switch without a spray indicator have the option of upgrading to the version with a spray indicator at cost price. To this end, we can supply the repair-exchange foot switch (REF. 60 55 649, Pr. Gr. 38) at a special price of

EUR 328.00, excl. VAT. This offer closes on 31 December 2005. The full price will be charged in the case of orders received after this date.

M1/E: test certificate for amalgam separator no longer required

As from August 2005, an amalgam separator test certificate will no longer be supplied together with the following products:

Drive AA2, repair-exchange REF. 33 17 653

REF. 33 20 475 Repair-exchange kit AA2

Previously, it had been necessary to leave a new test certificate in the dental practice in the event of an exchange. This is no longer necessary. The original test certificate remains valid. If you nonetheless require a new test certificate (REF. 33 33 692), please contact our Customer Service Centre.

New version of the SIVISION PC software

Version 014 of the SIVISION PC software (REF. 58 85 632) includes two new Windows monitor drivers:

Driver for “3” monitor (REF. 59 72 034)

The driver for the new “3” monitor (REF. 59 72 034), which went on sale at the beginning of the year, has now been included in our driver file. During the installation process, the monitor is identified as “59 72 034 D3399”. The quick fix recommended in March (i.e. installation of the driver for the monitor “59 72 000 D3399”) can be dispensed with.

Driver for 19" Monitor (REF. 60 30 634)

The driver file already includes the driver for the new 19" monitor (REF. 60 30 634).

Deliveries of this monitor are scheduled to commence in August 2005. During the installation process, the monitor is identified as "60 30 634 D3481”.

Further information about installation and configuration is contained in the relevant installation instructions (REF. 59 11 321). These instructions are also available on the

CD.

Handpieces

ImplantSystem: software update version 2.01

For technical reasons, contra-angle handpieces differ in terms of their power output.

There are two possibilities for ensuring the right torque at the preparation site:

1.) Calibration of a predetermined torque setting on the drive unit.

2.) The deployment of a software program which is specifically adapted to the handpiece (ImplantSystem).

The torque setting on the ImplantSystem can be guaranteed in combination with the following handpieces:

Handpieces with the gear ratio 1:1

ATR-20S (the 20:1 handpiece so far supplied by ATR)

IMPLANT 20:1

IMPLANT 80:1

For this reason, we have changed the step-down setting options on the control panel

(“Reduction” key) as follows:

1:1

20s:1 for ATR-20 S

20i:1 for IMPLANT 20:1

80:1 for IMPLANT 80:1

IMPLANT handpieces

The drive unit (e.g. ImplantSystem) and the handpiece (e.g. IMPLANT) must be seen as an integrated system. For this reason, each handpiece is accompanied by the following information:

“To fulfill the requirement for the correct torque at the bur, please check if your unit can be used with handpieces of Sirona (IMPLANT 20:1, IMPLANT 80:1) or ATR (ATR-20i,

ATR-80i). For this purpose a software update may be available so far the software is not already installed. Please have a look to the user manual if the handpieces are listed or check the software version which should be 2.01 or higher.

The handpieces are tested with the following units:

ATR ATR

ATR ATR 5000 Plus

ATR ImplaNiti

Sirona ImplantSystem

5000

For further information, please contact your local dealer or the manufacturer of the unit.”

Hygiene

Sirona DAC Universal

The DAC Universal is a multifunctional autoclave system for the cleaning, sterilization and lubrication of straight, contra-angle and high-speed handpieces in a single operation.

Deliveries will commence in the 34th calendar week.

According to the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute, dental handpieces should be categorized as semi-critical/critical medical products. As they contain voids, dental handpieces are difficult to clean and sterilize. For this reason, Class B autoclaves with a multi-stage pre-vacuum are the recommended method of sterilization. However, the prolonged sterilization cycle – coupled with the labour-intensive and error-critical manual cleaning and lubrication of the handpieces – has a negative impact on practice workflows. This also entails significant investment and maintenance costs.

The DAC Universal eliminates these problems. It takes a mere 12 minutes to clean, lubricate and sterilize six dental handpieces. The DAC Universal is a Class S sterilizer conforming to EN 13060 and has been certified and validated by the Danish State

Hygiene Institute.

The Robert Koch Institute recommends the automated processing of handpieces as a way of eliminating errors and cross-contamination risks for patients and staff.

A 08/2005 − Page 9 August

The DAC Universal is geared to a broad spectrum of different configurations (see diagram).

Take this opportunity to create a seamless infection control chain in the dental practice.

The DAC Universal is equipped with:

• an instrument holder including 6 adapters (the specific adapter type must be specified at the time of ordering)

• 1 container of care concentrate

• Installation set with waste water container, compressed air connection and air filter

inLab marketing package now available

The new marketing package for inLab users offers dental laboratories a unique opportunity to professionalize their communication efforts aimed at dentists.

The marketing package (format: A5) consists of various brochures devoted to specific clinical indications, material data sheets, a corporate image brochure, as well as a presentation folder and a documentation CD.

Consisting of several pages in each case, the four illustrated ‘indication brochures’ discuss the possibilities for fabricating polymer anterior crowns monoblock anterior and premolar crowns, as well as crowns and bridges .

The three data sheets deal with

, all-ceramic inlays/onlays/veneers , fine-structured all-ceramic materials, InCeram framework ceramics and zirconium oxide framework ceramics respectively . The emphasis is on the specific advantages of these materials as well as information relating to bonding methods.

The package also includes a sample corporate image brochure, with the help of which the inLab user can create his own “business card” containing specific information about his laboratory (company logo, corporate philosophy, special skills, location, address, etc.).

The presentation folder contains detailed information about the aesthetics, biocompatibility and clinical reliability of all-ceramic restorations created with the help of the Sirona CAD/CAM system. The folder has transparent pockets for leaflets, brochures, etc. which the laboratory would like to pass on to the dentist.

The CD brings together all the component parts of the marketing package in an electronic form – in PDF format for viewing on the PC and in QuarkXPress format. The latter permits the laboratory to individualize the documents before passing them on to an external printing company. The CD also contains the program Acrobat Reader (necessary for viewing the PDF documents on a PC).

In addition, the CD includes three sample letters in Word format, which the laboratory can adapt and then send to selected dentists. The CD sleeve booklet presents detailed information about how to create individually tailored information material relating to the dental laboratory.

In future, a sample copy of the marketing package will be supplied together with each inLab system. The package will also be sent subsequently to existing inLab users.
