Linear Reset Volume Controllers CSC-3501, 3505 Installation Guide Mounting The CSC-3501 and 3505 are position sensitive. They are calibrated to be mounted in a horizontal plane with the face down. Any other orientation will require recalibration of the “branch balance”. 1. Connect the right angle bracket to the mounting surface with 2 self threading screws in the two 13/64" (5 mm) mounting holes. 2. Insert the controller, face down. 3. Make sure to leave enough room to make connections. Connections For model CSC-3501, 3505 use 1/4" (5 mm) O.D. “FR” tubing, on the following push-on fittings: 1. Connect the clean, dry, main air supply to Port “M”. 2. Connect the damper actuator to Port “B”. 3. Connect the Thermostat output to Port “T”. 4. Connect the total pressure tap on the air flow sensor to Port “H”. 5. Connect the static pressure tap on the air flow sensor to Port “L”. Adjustments and Calibration Damper Action The damper action is factory set at Normally Open (N.O.). To field select Normally Closed (N.C.): 1. Loosen damper selection screw 2. Turn selection dial clockwise until the “NC” arrow aligns with the “Damper” arrow. 3. Tighten selection screw. To Adjust Branch Balance: 1. Disconnect thermostat from Port “T” 2. Disconnect ∆P sensor such that “H” and “L” are at 0" WC. 3. Adjust “LO STAT” knob fully Clockwise (CW) 4. Adjust branch balance for midpoint of actuator span +/- 2.5 psig (7.5 psi for 5–10 psi span, 10.5 psi for 8– 13 psi span). 5. Reconnect Ports “H”, “L” and “T” Adjustments and Calibration Continued To Adjust Reset Start: Thermostat Reset Start Point is factory Set at 8 psi. 1. Remove cap on Port “G” port 2. Connect to a 0– 30 psi gauge 3. Apply desired thermostat start point pressure to Port “T” 3. Adjust “Reset Start” until gauge pressure increases slightly (0.3 psig maximum). 4. Disconnect gauge and replace Port “G” cap To Adjust Reset Span: Thermostat Reset Span is factory set at 5 psig. 1. Remove Port “G” cap 2. Connect accurate 0–30 psi gauge. 3. Set thermostat for a Port “T” pressure of 15–30 psig. 4. Adjust “Reset Span” until gage pressure indicates the desired span. This is total span pressure, not ending pressure. NOTE: An increase or decease of a 5 psig reset span will directly affect the differential pressure range. Increasing the span to 7 psi will double the range, decreasing the span to 3.5 psi will halve the range. 5. Disconnect gauge and replace Port “G” cap To Adjust Minimum and Maximum Limits: 1. Disconnect thermostat from Port “T” port 2 Adjust LO STAT ∆P: For DA cooling or RA heating applications, adjust “LO STAT ∆P for minimum flow. For RA cooling or DA heating applications, adjust “LO STAT ∆P” for maximum flow. 3. Set thermostat for a Port “T” pressure of 15–30 psig. 4. Adjust HI STAT ∆P: For DA cooling or RA heating applications, adjust “HI STAT ∆P” for maximum flow. For RA cooling or DA heating applications, adjust “HI STAT ∆P” for minimum flow. NOTE:For maximum accuracy/repeatability, repeat/check minimum and maximum limit adjustments twice. “LO STAT ∆P” must be adjusted first followed by “HI STAT ∆P” adjustment. “LO STAT ∆P” adjustments affect “HI STAT ∆P” settings. Maintenance No routine maintenance is required. Each component is designed and manufactured for reliability and performance. Careful installation and use will ensure long term dependability.
