15. When I purchased my hearing aids, I was told that they were compatible with Android devices. Now I am being told that I cannot stream calls from my device to my hearing aids.
Why is this?
Android compatible hearing aids communicate through a protocol called Bluetooth Low Energy, which is a variant of Bluetooth. This protocol does not have a defined standard for audio streaming and as such cannot be done with Android devices at this time. We are supporting work by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group to define and implement an audio streaming standard. Audio streaming is available on Apple ® products by virtue of a proprietary method created by Apple.
16. If I cannot stream directly from my Android device to my hearing aids using the TruLink app, then what features does TruLink have?
With an Android device, the TruLink app allows you to change memories and hearing aid volume, create additional memories customized to specific environments and geotag automatic custom memories. There are currently no hearing aids that can stream directly with an Android device. If you wish to have this feature, please review our Z Series ™ platform that couples with our SurfLink ® Mobile.
