PARTS DIAGRAM

ASSEMBLY OF THE UNIT

1. Place motor unit on a flat and even surface, with the On/Off switch facing forward.

Press the motor down firmly so that the suction cups on the feet of the unit get a good grip.

2. Place the pulp holder on the left hand side of the unit. For easy cleaning, you can place a plastic bag into the pulp holder, and fold the bag over the sides of the holder.

3. Lower the separator on to the motor unit and pulp container.

4. Put the grating sieve into the separator and rotate it till it catches on the drive.

5. Lower the lid on to the separator and pulp container.

6. Hold the lid firmly with one hand, and pull the top of the clamp up and on to the latches on either side of the tube.

4

7. Align the groove in the side of the pusher with the protrusion inside the tube, and drop the pusher into the tube.

SWITCHING ON

1. Sit the motor unit on a dry, firm, level surface, near an electrical socket. Check that the speed control is set to 0.

2. Put the plug into the electrical socket.

3. Put the jug under the spout, to collect the juice.

4. Put the pulp collector under the outlet on the left of the separator. Turn the speed control to the speed you want (1 = low, 2 = high).

5. Use low speed for soft ingredients (strawberries, citrus). Use high speed for hard ingredients (apples, carrots).

6. Remove the pusher, and drop the ingredients down the tube.

7. Replace the pusher, and use it to push the ingredients gently down the tube. Turn the speed control back to 0 to turn the motor off.

8. Do not run the motor continuously for more than 2 minutes, it may overheat. After 2 minutes switch off for at least 2 minutes, to recover.

9. Stop when the jug is full, empty it, and start again.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Plug in the unit and switch on the electrical outlet.

2. Prepare the fruit or vegetables to be used:

Wash the fruit and/or vegetables

Peels and seeds in the fruit and vegetables do not have to be removed before extracting their juice. It is advised that citrus peels be removed though, as these sometimes leave a slightly bitter taste in the juice.

Large pits should be removed before juicing, as these may damage the unit.

Fruits and vegetables that are too large should be cut into smaller pieces.

Conical fruit and vegetables (such as carrots) should be inserted tip first.

3. Juicing:

NOTE: The juicer cannot be used for a period longer than 2 minutes uninterrupted, as the motor will overheat. After 2 minutes of continuous use, allow the juicer to cool down for at least 2 minutes before it is used again.

Turn on the unit using the rotary On/Off switch.

5

Remember to use level 1 to extract juice from soft fruits and vegetables and use level 2 to extract juice from harder fruits and vegetables.

Insert the fruit or vegetables into the fill nozzle. Insert the stopper into the fill nozzle and gently press down on the fruit or vegetables. Too much pressure will decrease the amount of juice obtained.

Once the fruit has been juiced, turn the On/Off switch to 0.

4. The juicer can be used until the pulp container is full. Do not overfill the pulp container, as this may damage the appliance.

WARNING

Rhubarb leaves are poisonous, they contain oxalic acid, and they must neither be juiced nor eaten.

HANDY HINTS AND TIPS

Buy organically grown produce whenever you can, to reduce your intake of insecticide and fertiliser residues.

Use good quality, fresh, ripe fruit and vegetables. Soft vegetables or overripe fruit can make the juice thick, cloudy, and bad-tasting.

Wash all fruit and vegetables. Remove the outer leaves on non-organic produce.

Peel any non-organic or waxed fruit or vegetables.

Remove stalks, stems, leaves and fern.

Remove and discard stones, peach pits and other big seeds. Pomegranate seeds, melon seeds, and small seeds in raspberries, Kiwi fruit and strawberries can be left in.

Do not try to juice bananas – the residue will clog the grating sieve.

Peel oranges, grapefruit and tangerines. The oil in their skins is bitter and difficult to digest, the pith is bitter.

Do not juice anything really strong or pungent, like onions or garlic. No matter how well you clean your juicer, you will never get rid of the taste.

Cut fruit and vegetables down so they will go through the tube. Use the pusher to clear anything that sticks, to push down the last bits of fruit, and to push down carrots, celery and other long fruit and veg.

Bunch up leafy greens, parsley, wheat grass and beansprouts into a small tight ball and push it down the tube with the pusher.

6

When you have finished juicing, do not just throw the pulp in the bin. It may still contain a great deal of goodness. Before you throw it away, think of things like thickening for soups or stews, pie-fillings, or even the compost heap .
