Frequently asked questions

The fuel meter indicates the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. The display segments of the fuel meter disappear towards “E” (Empty) as the fuel level decreases. When the fuel meter changes from two segments to only one segment, approximately 5.0 L (1.32 US gal, 1.10 Imp.gal) of fuel remains in the fuel tank. Be sure to refuel as soon as possible.

Use only unleaded gasoline. The use of leaded gasoline will cause severe damage to internal engine parts, such as the valves and piston rings, as well as to the exhaust system. Your Yamaha engine has been designed to use regular unleaded gasoline with a pump octane number [(R+M)/2] of 86 or higher, or a research octane number of 91 or higher.

The oil level warning light comes on if the engine oil level is low. The electrical circuit of the warning light can be checked by turning the key to “ON”. The warning light should come on for a few seconds, and then go off.

Refer to the Periodic maintenance chart for the emission control system and General maintenance and lubrication chart in the Owner's manual for maintenance schedules and instructions.
