User’s Manual VX-VEB160R4 [V2] Introduction General Description FCC Certifications This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at their own expense. The VX-VEB160R4 [V2] converts twisted pair. The device integrates buildings over existing phones lines. as an Ethernet Extender, allowing beyond its limitation of 100 meters. Ethernet to VDSL2 over Ethernet functionality in The device also functions users to extend Ethernet The VX-VEB160R4 [V2] port supports a maximum symmetrical data transmission rate of up to 100/100 Mbps. The device can transmit data at a maximum distance of up to 2000 ft. It is ideal for point to point connections without the added expense of having to rewire cables. The extender features a ‘plug-n-play’ installation that does not require additional software configuration. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received; including interference that may cause undesired operation. The cable specifications of the connection are listed as following: CE Mark Warning The following diagrams represent the typical applications for the VX-VEB160R4 [V2] This equipment complies with the requirements relating to electromagnetic compatibility, EN 55022 Class A for ITE, the essential protection requirement of Council Directive 89/336/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility. • • • 10BASE-T, Category 3, 4 or 5 UTP/STP 100BASE-TX, Category 5 UTP/STP Twisted-pair telephone wires Our company has an on-going policy of upgrading its products and it may be possible that information in this document is not up-to-date. Compact design (129.8 x 85 x 27mm) LED indicators External Power Adapter The Front Panel Use and Care The device further extends Ethernet using a single twisted pair of copper. It allows data services to be extended beyond Ethernet capabilities and supports many multi-media applications. The Rear Panel When deciding where to install the extender, please ensure that the extender is accessible, that cables can easily be connected, and that cabling is away from sources of electrical noise such as radios, transmitters, power lines and fluorescent lighting fixtures. In addition, please ensure that: • • Dip Switch Settings Water or moisture cannot enter the unit. Airflow around the unit and through the vents in the side of the case is not restricted (company recommend that you provide a minimum of 1 inch clearance). Pin 1: Mode selection between CO and CPE mode To prolong the operational life of your units: Pin 2: Reserved LEDs Definition • • Do not place objects on top of any unit or stack. Do not obstruct any vents at the sides of the case. Product Specifications Installing and Using VX-VEB160R4 [V2] Instructions Users can connect a Cat5 cable to the VDSL2 port of an extender and require no further configuration for a powered device (PD) to function. Users utilizing twisted pair cabling will need to ensure to use pins 4 and 5. Connect the Cat5 cable or twisted pair cable to the VDSL2 port of the extender and the Powered Device (PD). The VDSL2 LED indicator will intermittently blink at a faster rate until it remains solidly lit indicating a successful connection. If the LED remains blinking, the extender is attempting to establish a handshake or link. If this is the case, the issue could stem from a line quality issue, noise issue, or a bad connection.
