OUHK WiFi Configuration Guide For Android
OUHK WiFi service is available at the OUHK Homantin Campus, Kwai Hing Learning Centre, OUHK-CITA Learning
Centre and Jubilee College. This configuration guide provides basic configuration information and steps for you to
connect to the WiFi service. Please note that slight variations on the steps may occur with devices from different
manufacturers, you are advised to study this guide and refer to the user manual of your own device whenever
necessary.
Before the configuration, please ensure
You are an active student (currently taking OUHK course(s)) or a staff employee or tutor;
and
You have activated your OUHK Single Password; and
Your device must be compatible with OUHK wireless networks (802.11g/n/ac).
Information to note about OUHK WiFi connection settings
OUHK WiFi SSID (Service Set Identifier):

For active students.
OUHK-Staff
For staff or tutors.

For visiting users from member institutions.
Off campus:
Universities via CSL
For active full-time students, staff or tutors at CSL Wi-Fi Hotspots.

For active students, staff or tutors at Y5Zone Wi-Fi Hotspots.

Sample setup steps for OUHK-Student SSID on Android
This configuration guide is prepared based on a Samsung Galaxy Note II running Android version 4.1.2.
Please note that since slight variations may occur with devices from different manufacturers running various
versions of Android operating systems, you are advised to study this guide and refer to their user manuals
whenever necessary.
1.
Before the configuration, please ensure:
You are an active student (taking course currently) or a staff employee, and;
You have activated your single password, and;
Your device must have support for OUHK wireless networks (Wi-Fi / WLAN).

Turn on your device and at the home screen, tap the menu key.

Tap Settings [設定]

Switch the Wi-Fi on.
Switch the Wi-Fi to on if it is not activated, with the
slider to the right of Wi-Fi.
On devices with older Android versions, e.g. version
2.x, you might have to choose Wireless & Networks
first, then tap Wi-Fi settings, and then tap Wi-Fi at the
top of the menu screen.

When the screen displays a list of available wireless networks, select your desired network SSID.
On campus
Tap OUHK-Student if you are an active student.
Tap OUHK-Staff if you are a staff member.
Tap eduroam if you an active student or a staff
member.
Off campus
Tap Universities via CSL when you at CSL Wi-Fi
Hotspots if you are an active full-time student or a staff
member.
Tap Universities via Y5ZONE when you at Y5Zone
Wi-Fi Hotspots if you are an active student or a staff
member.
Tap eduroam when you at “eduroam” member
institutions if you an active student or a staff member.

Enter wireless network information
In the screenshot at left, OUHK-Student is chosen as an
example.
(a) Under EAP method [EAP 方法], select the option

PEAP.

(b) Under Phase 2 authentication [階段 2 驗證], select
the option MSCHAPV2.

(c) Under CA Certificate, leave the field to be
(Unspecified) [(未指定)] (This setting might not be

present on all devices).

the field to be (Unspecified) [(未指定)] (This setting

(e) Under Identity [識別]:
To access OUHK-Student or OUHK-Staff, enter
your username for e-mail account, e.g. “s1234567”
(without quotation marks).
To access eduroam, or Universities via CSL, or
Universities via Y5ZONE, enter your username to
login e-mail account followed by “@ouhk.edu.hk”
(without quotation marks), e.g. if your username of
e-mail account is “s1234567”, you should input
“[email protected]” (without quotation
marks).
(f)
Under Anonymous identity [匿名識別], leave it
blank.
(g) Under Password [密碼], enter the password of your
e-mail account.
(h) Tap the Connect [連線] button to continue.

7.
Connect to the network
When the status beside the chosen SSID (OUHK-Student
in left example) is changed to Connected [已連線], you
are now successful connected to the Wi-Fi network.
