Modern video lenses are available in fixed focal
length lenses (FFL) and zoom lenses. Fixed focal
length lenses has a larger maximum aperturethe opening through which light travels-which
supports images in lower light and with a shallow depth of field. The images produced with a
FFL lens are vibrant and sharp. Due to fewer
glass elements present in the FFL lens weight is
reduced and image colors are more accurate.

for a range of focal lengths. A single zoom lens
is capable of achieving multiple focal lengths
and provides additional flexibility especially in
usage with rigid endoscope in different diameters. An image can be captured from a range of
focal lengths without the physical moving of the
camera. Furthermore, investing in a single zoom
lens that allows for a range of focal lengths can
be proven to be more cost effective compared
to investing in multiple prime lenses for the
same focal length range.
In the medical field, FFL and zoom video lens
both provide brilliant optics, strong contrast,
high resolution and high translucence. Images
range from circle size to full size. The small and
lightweight ergonomic design of both lenses optimizes the overall human-system performance
and offers a quick scope connection. Additionally these waterproof video lenses are feasible
to the Autoclave, Plasma, and Soaking sterilization methods.

The usage of electrical light in medical field
starts in endoscopy with Mr. Philipp Bozzini
(1773-1809) who made his first comprehensive
report on the „Lichtleiter“ in 1806. Against all
criticism, Bozzini started an international discussion, based on his awkward „Lichtleiter“,
which brought his idea to an extensive medical
public. Historians agree that this instrument
using artificial light, various mirrors and specula was the beginning of a large family of endoscopes.
For diagnostic & treatment in MIS (minimal invasive surgery) it is essential to have perfect
illumination. Especially for complicated surgeries light is necessary to guaranty highest performance / reliability.

much as possible low UV (ultra violet) and IR

High Performance
We recommend the High Performance Light Guide LG 310 W for
use of Xenon light source. At the light entry side (connection
cable light source) the fibers are melted together resulting in
higher resistance towards heat and better transmission
compared with a conventional light guide. Special marking:
during using, the sleeve on the side of the light source will light
orange. Our light guides are available with or without adapters.

GAS INSUFFLATOR
Insufflation is the act of introducing a flow of gas into
a body cavity, such as the abdominal. For the purpose of assisting endoscopic intra-abdominal surgery,
insufflators provide a constant abdominal pressure
to elevate the abdominal wall to creating space for
MIS. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) maintains its role as the
main insufflations gas.
The ML-GX insufflator consists of multiple features
such as the user interface with a LCD touch screen,
irrigation connector, jog dial for setting function, preheating connector, and gas flow connector, etc. The
LCD touch screen system allows easy setup, including choice of flow rate, actual current flow rate display, critical CO2 bottle low level display, and high
risk pressure alarm functions. In addition to its already unique design, the insufflator integrates an
irrigation system for lavage, successfully joining two
major components into one module.

Breaking the world record in the insufflation world,
the ML-GX has a maximum flow rate of 45L/min with
an abdominal preset pressure range between 3
mmHg to 30 mmHg and is compatible to Central CO2
– supply or different kinds of gas bottles. Such a high
flow rate reduces operation time, increases surgical
safety and recovers gas leakage during manual instrument exchanges, suction performance, and ESU
smoke evacuation. Autoclavable re-usable heating
tubes and an anti-fog function assist the pre-heating
feature to heat up the gas up to body temperature.
The individual user settings option allows quick and
easy access to the adjustments which suits the
user’s requirements.
The ML-GX operates on a power supply of 100V~240V
with a maximum power consumption of 110VA. The
Automatic Self Test Function (ASTF) conducts regular tests on all critical components to ensure operation safety before use.
ML-GX is the state of the art insufflator beside MGB’s
insufflator range (ML-G & ME-GX).

The first commercial electrosurgical device was developed by William T. Bovie. The first use of an electrosurgical generator in an operating room occurred
in October 1st 1926 (Boston – Massachusetts).
Since this pioneering development by William T.

Electro surgery is the application of a high-frequency electric current to biological tissue to cut and coagulate it. Its benefits include the ability to make
precise cuts with limited blood loss. Electrosurgical
devices are frequently used during surgical approach
for mobilization and ligation.
Common uses of electrosurgical generators are dermatology, gynecology, cardiac, plastic, spine, ENT,
orthopedic, urology, neuro- and general surgical procedures.
Electro surgery is performed using an electrosurgical
generator and a hand piece including several electrodes or instruments.

Irrigation pumps have been enjoying a ripe and fulfilling life for over 3500 years in its contribution in
the basis of the economy and society of numerous
civilizations. A ncient Babylonians, Romans,
Europeans, and Chinese employed chain pumps to
draw water. The pump comprises of flat platters connected to a chain inside of a pipe. Water is caught
on the platter and forced up to the surface. Archimedes was believed to develop the first screw pump,
a large helix encased in a watertight cylinder, around
250BC.
Modern medical irrigation pumps are designed for
Arthroscopy, Hysteroscopy, and Laparoscopy. Typical
duration of the operation ranges from 10-45 minutes
with a fluid consumption of 5-15 liters and an average irrigation volume of 1L/min. Suction at the drain
ranges from 150mm Hg to 400mm Hg. The pump
generates pressure and controls flow as the roller
wheel transports fluid into the cavity for distension.
The irrigated volume is determined by the speed of
the roller wheel dominantly controlled by the pre-set
pressure and the distension is maintained.

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) In 1888 Austrian botanist
Fredreich Rheinizer stumbled across the fourth state of matter: the liquid crystal state (three basic states: Solid, Liquid, and Gaseous). In 1962 stripe-patterns were created by RCA researcher Richard
Williams via the application of a voltage in a thin
layer of liquid crystal material. In 1964-1968, George
Heilmeier led a team of engineers and scientists and
developed the Dynamic Scattering Method (DSM) of
rearranging the molecules so that they scatter light.
In 1969 James Fergason replaced the DSM design
with a twisted nematic field effect with lower power
consumption, lower operating voltages, and higher
work efficiently.

LCD monitors used in the medical field holds a higher specification than commercial monitors. Medical
monitors pass a more rigid Electromagnetic Interference Test and are able to survive disinfecting. Furthermore, medical monitors work beyond 8-bit per
channel, in 10 or 12 bit modes, at an external 12V
power supply with a power consumption of 60W. Consequently they produce finer gradients, an extremely high resolution, excellent color reproduction, and
is energy efficient. The resolution of the displayed
image reaches up to HD 1080i (1920x1080) with superior sharpness and accurate color reproduction .
In a confined room such as the OR, LCD monitors win
over other monitors (such as the plasma display) as
they can be produced in the smaller size of the spectrum and are equipped with brightness, sharpness,
and factory reset settings. Signal inputs include Digital Video Interface (DVI) in both the digital and the
digital and analog option (possible RGB with Adapter).
