Installation Guide This Installation Guide provides basic installation and configuration procedures for the ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard. Mounting the Whiteboard To mount the Whiteboard on a wall: Wall Mounting Instructions 1. Locate the hardware and installation tools included in the package. Note the differences between the front and back of the Whiteboard. All other names are properties of their respective owners. 3 Installation Guide Connecting the Whiteboard There are two ways to connect the Whiteboard: using a ScreenBeam Receiver, or directly to the laptop. The advantage of connecting via a ScreenBeam Receiver is that the user will be able to move around with the laptop, since it is connected wirelessly, instead of having it physically coupled to the Whiteboard using a USB cable. Connecting with a ScreenBeam Receiver Note: This Guide assumes that the Whiteboard is mounted on a wall, or otherwise permanently located in its operating position. For wall-mounting instructions, see “Mounting the Whiteboard” on page 1 of this Guide. There are two parts to connecting the Whiteboard with the Receiver: a) connecting the Receiver to the Whiteboard; and b) connecting the laptop and Receiver wirelessly. Also, Actiontec recommends using a short-throw projector with the Whiteboard, as less shadowing will occur with this type of projector. Connecting the ScreenBeam Receiver to the Whiteboard To connect the Receiver to the Whiteboard: 1. Insert one end of the provided USB cable into the USB port of the Receiver. 2. Insert the other end into the USB port of the Whiteboard. 3. Insert one end of the provided HDMI cable into the Receiver’s HDMI port. 4. Insert the other end into the projector’s HDMI port. 5. Insert one end of the Receiver’s power cord into the Receiver’s power port. 6. Insert the other end into an electrical wall outlet. 7. Make sure the projector is set to use its HDMI input. Note: The Receiver can also be connected via VGA cable (not provided), instead of an HDMI cable. If connecting with a VGA cable, skip steps 3 and 4 from the previous procedure, and connect the VGA cable between the Receiver’s VGA port and the VGA port of the projector. Then, make sure the projector is set to use its VGA input. 4 ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard Connecting the Laptop and ScreenBeam Receiver After the Receiver is connected to the Whiteboard, the laptop and Receiver must be connected. The procedures to do this differ, depending on the operating system running on the laptop (either Windows 10, or Windows 7/8/8.1). Note: The default pin is 12345670. Windows 10 If the laptop is running Windows 10, go to http://www.actiontec.com/setupsb and follow the onscreen instructions. Windows 7/8/8.1 If the laptop is running Windows 7/8/8.1, go to http://www.actiontec.com/setupsb and follow the onscreen instructions. Note: If the laptop is running Windows 8.1, connect via the Intel Wi-Di application. To download the latest Wi-Di version, go to: http://www.intel.com/go/wirelessdisplayupdate This link will also allow Windows 7/8 users upgrade to the latest WiDi application release. When finished, the installation should look similar to the figure below: Short throw projector HDMI cable USB cable ScreenBeam Receiver ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard 5 Installation Guide Installing the ScreenBeam Touch Software USB cable After connecting the laptop and the Receiver, install the ScreenBeam ScreenBeam Receiver Touch Software on the laptop. To do this: 1. On the laptop, go to https://actiontec.zendesk.com From the website, select ScreenBeam Touch90, and from the Software section, download the software. 2. Once the software is downloaded on the laptop, locate and douScreenBeam Touch Interactive Whiteboard ble-click on the ScreenBeamTouch.exe file. 3 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. Calibrate a. The Whiteboard is calibrated. Recalibrating the Whiteboard The Whiteboard will lose calibration if one or more of the following is changed: • The location of the Whiteboard • The location of the projector • The resolution setting of the laptop • The display size of the projector • The overscan value of the Receiver If any of the above changes occur, calibrate the Whiteboard again. Connecting Directly to a Laptop To directly connect a laptop to the Whiteboard: 1. Insert one end of the provided USB cable into the USB port of the laptop. 2. Insert the other end into the USB port of the Whiteboard. 3. Insert one end of the provided HDMI cable into the laptop’s HDMI port. 4. Insert the other end into the projector’s HDMI port. Make sure the projector is set to use its HDMI input. Note: The Receiver can also be connected via VGA cable (not provided), instead of an HDMI cable. If connecting with a VGA cable, skip steps 3 and 4 from the previous procedure, and connect the VGA cable between the Receiver’s VGA port and the VGA port of the laptop. Once the software is downloaded on the laptop, locate and double-click on the ScreenBeamTouch.exe file. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. Calibration To calibrate the Whiteboard: 1. Double-click ScreenBeam Touch Calibration from the laptop’s desktop. 8 ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard 2. From the window that appears, click Calibration. 3. A red target appears. Touch the center of the target with a finger or other pointing device for a few seconds. Make sure your finger or device is perpendicular to the surface of the Whiteboard. 4. The target disappears. Another target appears in the upper right corner of the Whiteboard. Repeat step 3. 5. The target disappears. Another target appears in the lower right corner of the Whiteboard. Repeat step 3. 6. The target disappears. Another target appears in the lower left corner of the Whiteboard. Repeat step 3. No more targets appear. The Whiteboard is calibrated. 9 Installation Guide Recalibrating the Whiteboard The Whiteboard will lose calibration if one or more of the following is changed: • The location of the Whiteboard • The location of the projector • The resolution setting of the laptop • The display size of the projector If any of the above changes occur, calibrate the Whiteboard again. Using the Whiteboard The ScreenBeam Touch software, used in conjucntion with the Whiteboard, is a powerful and interactive tool, ideal for education and business applications. With ScreenBeam Touch, users can perform many whiteboard functions, including handwriting, erasing, adding pages, inserting objects, recording, etc. To use ScreenBeam Touch software, double-click the ScreenBeam Touch icon on from the computer desktop to launch the software. For a complete ScreenBeam Touch instructions download the ScreenBeam Touch user manual: go to https://actiontec.zendesk.com, select ScreenBeam Touch90, and from the Product Document section, download then manual. 10 ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard Whiteboard Icons This following sections gives a brief description of the Whiteboard’s board icons. Note: The Whiteboard’s icons are operational only after launching the ScreenBeam Touch application on the laptop. Also, the icons are the same on both the left and right edge of the Whiteboard, with the exception of Calibration (top left side only) and Disable Right Click (top right side only). Calibration Tapping the Calibration icon on the Whiteboard causes the calibration funtion to start. Resources Tapping the Resource Library icon on the Whiteboard allows access to various resource libraries, including page resources, image resources, text resources, etc. Free Move Tapping the Free Move icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to move a selected object around the board. Move Back Tapping the Move Back icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to move a selected object back to its original location on the board. Zoom In Tapping the Zoom In icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to magnify a section of the board. Zoom Out Tapping the Zoom Out icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to demagnify (or zoom out) a section of the board. 11 Installation Guide Page Down Tapping the Page Down icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to move down to the next screen. Page Up Tapping the Page Up icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to move to the previous screen. Green Board Tapping the Green Board icon on the Whiteboard causes the board color to change to green. Black Board Tapping the Black Board icon on the Whiteboard causes the board color to change to black. White Board Tapping the White Board icon on the Whiteboard causes the board color to change to white. Desktop Tapping the Desktop icon on the Whiteboard causes the board to display the connected laptop’s desktop. Eraser Tapping the Eraser icon on the Whiteboard allows items on the Whiteboard to be erased. A selction of eraser types is included. Pencil Tapping the Pencil icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to free draw on the board using a pencil. 12 ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard Soft Pen Tapping the Soft Pen icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to draw on the board using a soft pen (similar to a calligraphy pen). Brush Tapping the Erasers icon on the Whiteboard allows the user to draw on the board using a brush. Black Color Tapping the Black Color icon on the Whiteboard allows items drawn or placed on the board to be black. Blue Color Tapping the Blue Color icon on the Whiteboard allows items drawn or shapes placed on the board to be blue. Narrow Line Tapping the Narrow Line icon on the Whiteboard allows items drawn or on the board to be rendered with a narrow line. Wide Line Tapping the Wide Line icon on the Whiteboard allows items drawn on the board to be rendered with a wide line. Keyboard Tapping the Keyboard icon on the Whiteboard places a working keyboard on the board. Disable Right Click Tapping the Disable Right Click icon on the Whiteboard causes the rightclick option on the Whiteboard to be disabled, blocking accidental clicks. 13 Installation Guide Troubleshooting This section describes a few problems the user may experience, and strategies to solve these problems. The touch function on the Whiteboard is not working. • Make sure all the cables are securely connected. • Make sure the calibration process was completed properly. My laptop/tablet could not connect to the ScreenBeam Receiver. • Make sure the name of the Receiver matches the Receiver name shown on the Whiteboard. • Update the wireless network adapter’s driver to the latest version for the laptop/tablet. • If the problem persists, and if Internet access is not required, manually disconnect the laptop/tablet from the wireless network, then reconnect to the Receiver. My laptop/tablet occasionally loses connection with the ScreenBeam Receiver, and needs to be manually reconnected. • Update the wireless network adapter’s driver and graphics driver to the latest version for the laptop/tablet. • Adjust your laptop/tablet’s wireless network roaming feature to a less aggressive mode. • If the problem persists, and if Internet access is not required, manually disconnect the laptop/tablet from the wireless network, then reconnect to the Receiver. 14 ScreenBeam Touch90 Interactive Whiteboard Video and/or audio is cutting in and out occasionally, or mouse movement is not smooth. • If streaming video from the Internet, verify the video does not exhibit the issue prior to connecting to the Receiver. • If playing video from a media player app, verify the video does not exhibit the issue prior to connecting to the Receiver. • Connect your laptop/tablet to a non-DFS 5GHz Wi-Fi network instead of the default 2.4GHz network. If this solves the problem, set up the device to use the 5GHz network as its default network. How do I configure the settings for the ScreenBeam Receiver? All changes to the Receiver’s settings are done through the local management console or Actiontec’s CMS.
