1 Purpose of Document

This document aims at describing how to install and configure the signature applet and the software environment necessary to the client.

2 Installation

To install the signature applet follow the steps 2.2.

– 2.8.

Certain configuration operations require the right of system administrator for the station where the installation is performed.

2.1 Required Configuration

A. Hardware:

PC: 1.2 gigahertz or greater; Intel or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron Processor, or other types of compatible processors

RAM: 256 megabytes (MB) RAM or higher

Monitor that supports a 1024 X 768 resolution or higher

CD-ROM or DVD drive or USB

Keyboard and mouse or any other mouse compatible device

The hardware configuration should allow installation and operation of components described in section B.

B. Software:

Operating system: Windows XP or newer

Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer

Java Runtime Environment 1.5 or newer

C. Access to the website http://www.portofconstantza.com

Network connection

Internet access, minimum recommended bandwidth: 128 kbps.

2.2 Configuration and Installation of the Java Virtual Machine (Java

Runtime Environment)

Go to Control Panel and run the Java Plug-in to check if a JRE version exists.

A. If there is not, it means that no JRE is installed; therefore it is necessary to install the JRE from the software package (the latest version). Restart each time the system requires this operation.

B. Check in Control Panel in AddRemove Programs whether there are several

JRE/JDK installed. This verification can be made by calling

“C:\Program Files\Java” and by observing what JRE/JDK is installed there. If there are several java virtual machines, it is recommended to uninstall them, restart the system, remove any

System Installation and Configuration

UTI SYSTEMS 2009 Page 4 of 11

SIP MPAC remains of the JRE (in C:\Program Files\Java), delete related keys in registries

– unless they were removed with the installer.

Restart each time the system requires this operation.

Proceed with the JRE installation from the software package.

Once the installation is closed, deactivate the

“Automatic Update” for the installed

JRE. For this operation, go to Control Panel / Java Plug-in / Update and uncheck

“Check for Updates Automatically”. Also, if the internet access is made via a proxy, the same settings should be made at JRE level.

2.3 Checking the Operation of the Installed JRE

Open Internet Explorer and select the menu Tools  Sun Java Console, to check the

JRE operation. If the java console opens, go to step 2.4.

If the

“Sun java console” does not load or phenomena like, the browser is closing or is not responding etc., check if a plug-in in IE is affecting the JRE (Java Runtime

Environment) operation. Disable plug-ins one at a time (like Yahoo Toolbar, Google toolbar, etc), up to the correct operation of the Sun Java Console. This is done by opening the Internet explorer  Tools  Mange Add-ons  Enable or disable Addons, by clicking the unknown Add-ons and selecting Disable and OK. Restart the browser and check again the Sun java console.

If in the menu Tools, the option

“Sun java console” does not appear, go to Tools 

Internet Options  Advanced  Java (Sun) Use JRE 1.x.x, and check this option, where JRE 1.x.x is the java version previously installed. Restart the browser.

Delete cache JRE:

Navigate in C:\Documents and go to Settings\UserCurent\Application

Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache and delete the entire content of this directory. This forces the JRE to refresh the applet.

The option in image above must be selected.

2.4 Installation of the Signing Applet

The installation will be made as follows:

A. Run WSSetup.exe to install the libraries necessary for the applet execution in the java virtual machine context.

B. Check the existence of the following files:

asn1.jar

certJ.jar

System Installation and Configuration

UTI SYSTEMS 2009 Page 7 of 11

SIP MPAC

charsets.jar

JSafe.jar

In the sub-directory C:\Program Files\Java\

JRE

\lib\ext, where

JRE

is the generic name of the directory corresponding to the previously installed JRE version.

For example, if the Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0 Update 1 version is installed, the directory name will be jre1.6.0_01

, and the files previously mentioned will be located in

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\lib\ext.

If those files are not located in this directory (due to faulty JRE uninstall), they will be copied from the installation CD.

2.5 Browser Configuration

The browser should be set so as to bring the latest version of the viewed page and not to serve it from cache. This can be performed by accessing Tools / Internet Options /

Browsing History / Settings and by checking Every time I visit the web page.
