| A. INTRODUCTION

This range of SG type lampholders has been
carefully designed to minimise installation time,
whilst offering maximum safety to the installer
and greatly enhanced safety to the user.
The Shock Guard (SG) system ensures that the
lampholder contact pins are not live when a
bulb is removed.

C. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Ensure the mains supply is switched off before
installation or maintenance of this product.
This product should be installed by a competent
person (e.g. a qualified electrician) in accordance
with these instructions and in accordance with
the appropriate clauses of the current edition of
the wiring regulations (BS 7671).
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Users of this product are requested to take note
of the above act and are advised that a full
statement is contained within the MK catalogue.
To ensure that the cable clamp will grip
sufficiently, use only two core circular cable as
specified in the installation instructions.

11. Assemble the lamp shade onto the
lampholder and hold it in place with the
shade ring.
NB If the lampholder ever has to be
disconnected, switch off the electricity
supply at the mains and unscrew the cap
to release the cable prior to unclipping the
cover from the lampholder.

D. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
PENDANT LAMPHOLDERS
1. Switch off the electricity supply at the
mains.
2. Remove the shade ring from the
lampholder.
3. Insert a screwdriver carefully under each
of the two white clips holding the white
cover to the grey lampholder body. Lever
4. Unscrew the cap of the white cover as far
as it can go. (N.B. When unscrewed, the
cap does not separate entirely).

5. Use heat resisting PVC insulated and
sheathed flexible 0.75mm?2 two core
circular cable complying with
BS 4568:Pt:2:1970.
6. Strip cable in accordance with figure 2.
7. Thread the cable through hole in top of
cover/cap.
8. Make the supply cable connections to the
product and tighten terminal screws
securely.
9. Re-clip cover onto lampholder. Ensure the
clips are fully engaged.
10. Firmly screw the cap down. This will ensur
cable is adequately gripped in the clamp.

STRAIGHT, BATTEN LAMPHOLDER
1. Switch off the electricity supply at the main:
2. Remove the shade ring from the
lampholder.
Unscrew the rose cover.
4. Pull lampholder from seating in the rose
base.
5. Ensure the base is level and fix securely tc
the ceiling using two countersunk No. 8
wood screws into a joist as shown in
figure 4.
6. Strip cable in accordance with figure 2.

7. Make supply cable connections to the
product as shown in figures 5a or 5b, as
required, and tighten terminal screws
securely.
8. Push lampholder back onto the rose base
and replace the rose cover.
9. Assemble lamp shade onto the lampholder
(if required) and replace the shade ring.

ANGLED, BATTEN LAMPHOLDER
Switch off the electricity supply at the mains.
Remove the shade ring from the lamphoider.
Unscrew the clamping ring. (See figure 6)
The grey lampholder moulding is then free
to be withdrawn through the rear of the
angled mounting.
Position angled mounting where required,
ensure the base is level and mark the
fixing screw positions.
If wall mounting, beware of hidden wiring
or pipes prior to drilling and plugging the
wall to take the No. 8 fixing screws.
6. Ensure the cable ends are stripped in a
similar manner to those shown in figure 2.
7. Insert the cable into the two terminals and
tighten the terminal screws securely.
8. Replace angled mounting over the lamp-
holder. Orientate and pull forward the
lampholder until correctly seated in the
mounting, then hold in place with the
clamping ring.
9. Fix the Batten lampholder in place using
No.8 screws.
10. Assemble lamp shade onto the lampholder
(if required) and replace the shade ring
| E. DISPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS
Product and packaging can safely be disposed
of via standard refuse facilities at the end of its
useful life.
The end user should keep these instructions
for future reference.

at MK's option by the supply of a
replacement, defects which, under proper
use, appear in the Goods within a period of
ten years after the Goods have been
delivered (within two years for mains related
electronic products) and arise solely from
faulty materials or workmanship, provided
that no attempt has been made by the
customer to rectify, dismantle, or alter the
products in any way.
MK is not liable for any loss or damage
(other than death, or personal injury) arising
or said to arise from MK’s-negligence from
the use of any of MK's goods unless the
goods were not manufactured in accordance
with the relevant legislation and Codes of
Practice in force at the time of manufacture,
and the said loss or damage arises within
ten years of delivery. Consumers have rights
under the law against sellers if the product is
defective or unsatisfactory. This Guarantee
does not and will not affect your statutory
rights.

necessary legal action in any part of the
world against any party found to be
