DER INTERCONNECTION PROJECT VALIDATION PACKAGE - ALL PROGRAM
Congratulations on your submitted Distributed Energy Resource (DER) submittal
moving into the last phases of the review process.
In order to help you submit all outstanding items and to help us validate that your DER
Interconnection application is ready to move forward, attached to this letter are:
1) DER Interconnection Project Validation Program Insurance Requirement Guide
2) DER Interconnection Project Validation Photo Requirement Guide
3) DER Interconnection Project Validation Cover Form
4) The Hawaiian Electric Companies Ride Through requirements
The DER Interconnection Project Validation Cover Form must be completed, signed
and submitted with all your documentation as one package. Failure to submit all
items and the signed DER Interconnection Project Validation Cover Form could
cause your submitted items to be returned and delay the execution of your
application. However, this form should not be used for payment submittals.
The Hawaiian Electric Companies Ride Through requirements are for your records only
and do not need to be returned with the required documents. The Hawaiian Electric
Companies Ride Through requirements will provide the necessary information to ensure
that your inverters comply and have been properly programmed. For information or
instructions how to reprogram inverters, please contact the inverter manufacturer.
Please have either your contractor or electrician complete and sign the middle portion of
the form attesting that the inverters have been changed and meet these requirements.
Failure to complete and return any of the required documents could cause a delay in
moving your application into the final phases of the approval process for your project.
Any revisions to the agreement must be submitted with the “DER Interconnection
Application Cover Form” for review and could affect the system’s interconnection
requirements or the overall status of the agreement. Once revisions are reviewed and
conditionally approved you may submit this form with the updated requirements.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENT GUIDE

Standard Interconnection Agreement:
“The Customer shall, at its own expense and during the term of
the Agreement and any other time that the Facility is
interconnected with the Company’s system, either (a)maintain in
effect with a responsible insurance company authorized to do
insurance business in Hawaii, insurance that will adequately
protect the Customer and the Company with respect to risks
arising under this Agreement, including the Facility’s
interconnection with the Company’s system, provided the forms,
amounts and conditions of such insurance coverage shall be as
specified in Exhibit D hereto, or (b) self insure, in lieu of
obtaining insurance coverage from an insurance company, provided
the terms of such self insurance shall be as specified in
Exhibit D hereto.”
Feed In Tariff:
“Tier 1: A general liability policy covering bodily injury and
property damage combined single limit of at least FIVE HUNDRED
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($500,000) for any occurrence.
Tier 2: A general liability policy covering bodily injury and
property damage combined single limit of at least TWO MILLION
DOLLARS ($2,000,000) for any occurrence.”
“Tier 3: Insurance. Seller shall, at its own expense and during
the Term and during any other time that Facility is
interconnected with Company System, secure and maintain in
effect with a responsible insurance company authorized to do
insurance business in Hawaii the following insurance that will
protect Seller and Company: commercial general liability
insurance with respect to Facility, Seller's operations, and
Seller's interconnection with Company System, with a bodily
injury and property damage combined single limit of two million
dollars ($2,000,000).”

 All utility meter socket equipment is in sound condition and installed in compliance with the Hawaiian Electric Companies
Electric Service Installation Manual and NEC code used by the governing jurisdiction.
 Current Certificate of Insurance as required by the specific program’s requirements is submitted.
 Photos of the installed configuration, utility meter, & name plate of equipment being used, for systems ≤ 30 kW.
Drawings: Single Line and Three Line (for systems ≥ 30 kW or per County requirements) are:
