1.1. TransAT Installation
TransAT Installation
Introduction
The installer starts with a welcome page.

1.1.2
Licence agreement
Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) to continue the installation.
1.1.3
Installation directory
Please specify the path where TransAT will be installed. This will create the folder TransAT 5.2
inside the destination folder specified.

1.1. TransAT Installation
TransAT components
The installation of the Tutorials is by choice. If selected, a folder with simulation templates will
be created. See Tutorial Manual (after the installation) for more details. TransAT Unit Test
installation is compulsory. This tool allows to test anytime the correct installation of TransAT.

1.1.5
TransAT dependencies
After having installed TransAT libraries, the installer will check all the software dependencies
needed and list them.
The full list of dependencies contains:
• Python 2.7.5.
• Intel DLL package for Intel Fortran Compiler.
• Windows SDK for 64 bit applications

1.1. TransAT Installation
• Microsoft MPI HPC
If some of these dependencies are detected as already installed they will not be shown in the list.
All missing dependencies will be automatically selected and can easily be installed clicking on
Install. This may take some time, as some are downloaded from the Web.

Optional tools:
• Paraview 4.0.1
• Ms-MPI Port Range Definition
Paraview is a free post processing tool that can be used to visualize the output files of TransAT.
Ms-MPI Port Range definition is a tool that allows defining a range of Firewall ports that
will be used by TransAT solver to communicate data when running parallel simulations. Defining
such a range allows the processors to communicate without being blocked by your Firewall. The
default Ms-MPI Port Range is 30000-30010, opening 11 ports and therefore allowing simulations

up to 11 processors. If this option is not selected, the default Port Range is used to communicate.
However, in this case Firewall ports will not be opened.
Note the Ms-MPI Port Range can be changed anytime after the installation using the Ms-MPI
Port Range Definition tool available in the Start Menu, under the TransAT 5.2 folder.

1.1.6
Unit Test
The Unit Test of TransAT is run after the installation procedure of all the components and
dependencies has finished. This tool is testing the correct installation of all the components
needed by TransAT Graphical User Interface and TransAT Solver. Please notice the Unit Test
might fail because of some of the components or dependencies installed require the system to
reboot. An error message will pop up telling to complete the installation and re-run the Unit
Test after rebooting the machine. The TransAT Unit Test tool will be available as a separate tool
that can be launched from the Start Menu.

Log-Files
At the end ot the Unit Test a Log-Files Manager page is shown. The TransAT Log-Files Manager allows to navigate through the Installation Log-Files generated. These Log-Files should be
included to report installation problems to “[email protected]”. Note the Log-Files Manager

tool is also accessible from the Start Menu, under the TransAT 5.2 folder.
1.1.8
Start Menu
A section in the Starting Menu will be added under the name TransAT 5.2. It will contain several
link to TransAT itself, and to its additional tools.

1.2. TransAT 5.2 License
TransAT 5.2 License
TransAT has a built-in demo version which lets you run simulations for up to 1 hour wall time,
using a maximum of 4 cores. No checkpoint/restart options are provided in this version.
A license can also be installed. This provides the full usage of TransAT, without restrictions on
simulation runtime and checkpoint/restart capability. A restriction on the number of cores might
remain and it depends on the contract.
1.2.1
Install license
The license file for TransAT will be sent separately over email. Save the license file (e.g. /home/jerry/transat jerry.lic).
The License tool is accessible from the Start Menu, under the TransAT 5.2, Tools sub-folder.
Figure 1.8: License Setup.
Select the location of the license file, e.g /home/jerry/transat jerry.lic, and click on close to save
the change.
Please note: Log-out and log-in again are needed in order to activate the license.

1.2. TransAT 5.2 License
To install an update of the license, it is possible to launch the same executable and locate the
new license.
Please note: After TransAT and the license file are installed, TransAT has to be run once,
in the same month that the license file was created in order to activate it.
