Setup & Operating Instructions for Agile Displays® AGILITY 3000©

(Control software for remote control of Agile Displays® Electronic Message Centers)

Note: You must have Java installed on your computer to run AGILITY 3000©.

INSTALLING JAVA:

1 - Log on to Agile Displays’ website at ( www.agiledisplays.com

) to get Java and the latest version of

Agility 3000©.

 

2 - Click on download java to install Java on your computer, on the next screen click on Free Java

Download.

3 - Follow the screen instructions carefully until the process is complete.

INSTALLING AGILITY 3000©:

1-Create a new folder on your C-Drive (or your “Default Drive”) and name it “Agility 3000”.

2- Go to www.agiledisplays.com

and click on Download Agility Software.

3- On the next window click on Download Agility 3000.

4- Select the folder you just created (Agility 3000) and then click Save.

5- When the download is complete Click on Open folder, in the folder Right-Click on the file named Agility3000 Executable Jar File, and select “Send to Desktop”. Installation is now complete. To launch Agility 3000 simply double-click on the Agility 3000 Icon on your desktop.

WIRELESS ROUTER:

Using AGILITY 3000© to control an Agile Displays EMC equipped with a wireless router (standard installation):

Computer requirements:

Operating system: Microsoft® Windows: Vista®; Xp®; 2000® or Linux®

Hardware: Computer must have an 802.11.b/g wireless network card installed (Internal, USB or PCMCIA).

Note: The following information is required to connect the computer to the wireless router installed in the EMC unit:

1-Network SSID (Name given to the wireless router installed in the EMC unit)

2-Network key (Security password for wireless router)

NOTE: This procedure is based on the Microsoft® Windows XP® operating system, which is very similar to Windows 2000® and Vista®; however, there may be slight differences on the windows screens and within the procedure. Please contact your company’s network administrator for assistance if you have any problems.

Procedure for connecting computer to the wireless router:

1-Right-click on the wireless card icon and select OPEN UTILITY. A window similar to that shown below will appear. (Note: window appearance will depend on the wireless utility available on your computer.)

2- Click on Site Monitor to scan for available network within range and the following window will appear:

3- Identify the wireless network (Network name) for the EMC you wish to connect to and control.

Double-click on the selected network name and the following window will appear:

4- Enter the Network key (password) for the wireless router and then click Next, the window will close and your network card status will indicate connected. This means you have successfully connected to the wireless router.

5- The wireless router is configured to issue IP addresses within this range 192.168.1.100 to

192.168.1.105. The EMC unit’s IP address must fall within that range.

6- Note: One of the IP addresses within that range is assigned to your computer.

7- Double-click the Agility 3000 icon on your desktop. The following window will appear:

If the above window appears, skip Step 8 and go to Step 9.

If this window appears:

8- Click the OK button to close the communication error that appears.

9- Next, click on File then Add EMC Unit and the following window will appear:

10- Enter a name that will accurately describe the EMC that you are setting up in the id field (Unit

Serial Number, Fleet Number, EMC Unit Name, etc.).

11- Enter one of the IP Address that is within the assigned range in the connection address field – typically start with 192.168.1.102 – if the connection fails when you attempt to connect to the

EMC try a different IP Address within the range (192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.105) until you find the one that works (i.e. the IP Address will either be 192.168.1.100, 101, 102, 103, 104, or

105 depending on how the wireless router is connected to the network, etc.).

12- If you are only going to typically control one or two EMC units (a single or double sided sign) with this installation of Agility 3000 check the auto-open box and the EMC unit will launch automatically each time you open Agility 3000.

13- Select the appropriate font set from the drop-down font set selection menu (Note: to enable the use of the Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish fonts select International; to enable the use of the

French-Canadian font select French-Canadian; otherwise leave this field set to US.).

14- Enter a location for the unit in the location field for easy identification and then click the OK button.

15- Close Agility 3000, this will save the settings you entered above.

16- Ensure you are still connected to the appropriate wireless network (i.e. the wireless router installed on the EMC you wish to control) and then re-launch Agility 3000 by double clicking on the Agility 3000 shortcut.

17- Click on File then Manage EMC Units the following window will appear:

18-Click on the Unit ID field for the EMC you wish to connect to and control and then click on Manage

Selected Unit(s). A similar window like the one below should appear on your screen if you are connected to the remote unit. The displayed message will depend on what is currently displayed on the

EMC.

Repeat the above procedure to add additional Agile Displays EMC units to Agility 3000.

AGILITY 3000 Message Creation, Editing and Display:

ƒ Manage Messages (Create, Edit, Delete, Preview & Display Messages)

Message Screens: top left screen (Default Message Screen) displays Default

Message currently being displayed on the Sign Panel (amber), top right screen

(Preview Screen) is for preview of Messages within Message Library (blue).

Set Default Message (Yellow Check Mark) – Sets the Selected Message from the Message Library as the Default Message and displays the selected Message in the top left screen (Default Message Screen) in amber and on the Sign Panel.

To preview a Message from the Message Library select the desired Message in the list of Messages - the Message will be displayed in blue in the Preview

Screen (right). To set a Message from the Message Library as the Default

Message and display it on the Sign Panel select the desired Message in the list of Messages and once it is displayed in blue in the Preview Screen (right) click

Add (Green Plus Sign) – Activates the Message Creation & Editing Screen to enable creation, naming and saving of a new Message to the Message Library

Edit Message (Pencil-Scissors-Glue) – Activates Message Creation &

Editing Screen and loads the selected Message from the Message Library for editing and saving. To edit a Message from the Message Library, select the desired Message and when it is displayed in blue in the Preview Screen (right) click on the Edit Message (Pencil-Scissors-Glue) button to activate the

Message Creation & Editing Screen (see Message Creation & Editing

Screen).

Delete Message (Black X) – Removes the selected Message from the Message

Library. To delete a Message from the Message Library, select the desired

Message and when it is displayed in blue in the Preview Screen (right) click on the Delete Message (Black X) button and follow on-screen instructions. Note:

The Default Message and Messages assigned to Current Quick Picks may not be deleted. To delete a Message from the Message Library ensure that it is not assigned as the Default Message or to Current Quick Picks.

Blank Sign Panel (Black Box / Blank Screen) – Blanks the sign panel – turns the sign panel off and assigns a Blank Message as the Default Message.

Insert Message from Master Libraries (Blue Arrow) – Inserts a Message from the Master (Local Control Center) Library into the current sign’s Message Library.

Manage Libraries (Books) – Opens the Library Manager for management of all libraries

ƒ Message Creation & Editing Screen:

General Notes:

- The Active Page in a Message during Message creation & editing is outlined in red. To edit an existing Page, click on the Page once to make it the Active

Page (outlined in red). Click on the Active Page a second time to edit the

Page contents. To place the cursor in a Text Page for editing, click on the desired location for cursor placement and edit as desired using the keyboard.

To change the Page Display Time for the Active Page, click on the Page

Display Time Window (seconds) once and type in desired display time [Note: two (2) seconds is provided automatically as the default display time for all newly added Pages]. To remove a Page from a Message, click on the Page to make it the Active Page and then click the Delete (Trash Can) button to remove the Page from the Message. New Pages added to a Message will always be added to the right of the current Active Page. When all editing is completed click the Finished (Green & Yellow Smile Face) button to name and save the Message (naming is not required for Message editing as the

Message already had a name prior to editing). To exit without saving any changes click the Cancel (Red w/Black X) button.

- To add a Text Page to a Message, click the Create Text Page ( Te][ ) button.

Select desired font (an automatic sizing font labeled “Adaptive” is provided as the default font). Type desired text. To select specific lines within a Page for text creation/editing (such as in a 3-Line Normal font) click on desired line on the Active Text Page to place cursor as desired. To change the display time of the Active Text Page click on the Display Time Window and type in desired

Display Time.

- To add a Graphic Image Page to a Message click the Create Graphic Image

Page (Mona Lisa Picture) button and create a Graphic Image as desired by using the tools provided. When finished click the Finished button. To change the display time of the Active Graphic Image Page click on the Display Time

Window and type in desired Display Time.

- To add a Dynamic Data Source (e.g. radar, special data source, etc.) Page, click the Create Dynamic Data Source Page (Thermometer & Time) button and create the Dynamic Data Source Page by using the tools provided.

When finished click the “OK” button. To change the display time of the

Active Dynamic Data Source Page click on the Display Time Window and type in desired Display Time.

- To add a Page from the Master Library, click the Insert Page from Master

Library (Books) button. Using the menu tree provided locate the desired

Page for insertion from the list(s) provided, and then click on the “Choose

Selected Sequence” button. To change the display time of the Active Page click on the Display Time Window and type in desired Display Time.

Keyboard – standard keyboard input – multiple keyboards are supported and may be used based upon Control Center 3000 settings – to change language setting (i.e. select between US Standard and International

Fonts), from the main menu bar, click on Local Libraries and select

Choose Local Font Set then select either US or International and follow directions. o

Display Time (Seconds) – Page Display Time within Message – click in window to edit display time (2 seconds is provided as the default display time for all newly added Pages).

Font – Font Selection – font availability is based upon current controller language setting – An Adaptive font (an automatic sizing font) is provided as the default font in all cases unless changed by the operator.

AGILITY 3000 Time Based Message Scheduling:

General Notes:

When creating a Time Based Scheduled Message the following options are provided: o

One-time Schedule – used to schedule a Message for a single display event – such as at a specific time (or time period) on a specific date (or for a specific period – range of dates) or to change the Default Message at a predetermined time (no end time or date – used to commence displaying a Message until some future operator intervention is incurred). o

Repeating Schedule – used to schedule a Message for repeated and/or periodic display – such as during specific times (or time periods) on specific days of the week – i.e. display a particular message from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday of every week.

General Procedure for creating a Time Based Scheduled Message in Agility 3000:

1. Click on the Schedules button under the Calendar in Agility 3000.

2. Click on the Add button.

4. Based on selection above – determine and set necessary parameters – i.e. start-time, stop-time, daily, weekly, monthly, days, etc.

8. If Priority selection is displayed, do not change anything, just click Next (Priority selection is for advanced operators only).

10. Scheduled Message will be added to list of Scheduled Sequences.
