CALL-START OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW The CALL-START 007 GSM remote controller is a SIM Card based system that allows you to control most heating systems with a simple telephone call. The system is initially set up using an SMS (Text) command to program your preferred operating method for the heater and then only requires a free voice call to activate the heater. The system will operate on either 12 or 24 volt supplies. PROGRAMMING THE ADMINISTRATION NUMBER Call-Start requires a SIM card to be fitted (not provided). Once the SIM card has been installed and the system switched on, the blue and yellow LED lights will oscillate infrequently until the Blue Network LED lights and flashes every 2-3 seconds when the system has located a GSM Network. You now hold down the Reset button located on the left side of the unit for approximately 2-3 seconds and release; the Blue LED remains permanently ON You now call the telephone number of the unit, it will read your telephone number and then reject the call, your number is now the principal administration number that will be used to program the unit. The system will also send the administrator a confirmation SMS message in the format ADMIN PHONE SET OK! 07********* your number is now ready to access and programme the system. Only an administrator can alter the programming other users can only call or use SMS to turn the heater on and off. The system can operate in one of two modes, either a timed ‘on’ period or a toggle from ‘on’ to ‘off’ using a phone call with or without SMS confirmation. You can also turn the heater ‘on’ and ‘off’ using SMS messaging. This also has a return SMS confirmation. Note: although the commands are shown in these instructions in upper case, lower case may also be used. To test the system you can call the unit and the Relay will latch for a factory pre-set of 1 second. SETTING A TIMED RUN PERIOD The run period is set in seconds from 600 (10 minutes) to 65,000 (18 hours). The SMS command to set the run period is 1234SC followed by the number of seconds using a 5 digit format for the time. For example to set a run time of 1 hour (60*60=3600) the command would be 1234SC03600. You will receive the following SMS confirmation of SC03600 OK; thereafter every time you call to activate the system the run time would be 1 hour. SETTING A PERMANENT ON/OFF You can also set the system to toggle from ‘on’ to ‘off’ with alternate phone calls, it also allows you to have a confirmation SMS message if required. ON/OFF WITH SMS CONFIRMATION The command to use the permanent on/off with confirmation is 1234MB1# You will receive a confirmation SMS of 1234MB1 OK and receive the SMS message OUT1 ON or OUT1 OFF with alternative calls. ON/OFF WITHOUT SMS CONFIRMATION The command to use the permanent on/off without SMS confirmation is 1234MB0# On initial set-up, you will receive a confirmation SMS of 1234MB0 OK. TURNING THE HEATER ‘ON’ AND ‘OFF’ VIA SMS MESSAGE To turn the heater ON using a SMS message the command is 1234ON with a confirmation message of TURN ON. To turn the heater OFF using a SMS message the command is 1234OFF with a confirmation message of TURN OFF. ADDING AND DELETING ADDITIONAL USERS You can add a further 99 users to the system by sending from the administrators phone only, the following SMS message 1234ADD followed by the users phone number i.e. 1234ADD0862039845 you will receive a confirmation SMS of ADD with the new users number i.e. ADD 0862039845 OK. To remove a user from the list, the administrator would send the SMS 1234DD followed by the user’s number, you will receive a confirmation SMS of DD with the deleted number i.e. DD 0862039845 OK. To delete the entire user list the administrator sends 1234FD and receives the following SMS confirmation of FD OK, now only the administrator can access the system. UK. Tel: 01924 274774. EBERSPACHER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS The Call-Start base unit needs to be installed in a dry place with mobile reception in mind, either into the wiring that comes from the heater to the control device as shown in the diagram or alternatively the unit’s power can be supplied from a separate source as long as the voltage is the same as the heater’s voltage, then the only other connection required is from the unit’s Normally Open (NO) connection to the heater’s control yellow wire. Note: when remotely controlling an air heater, the heater’s cabin control must be set at a temperature above ambient to ensure the heater switches ‘on’. Specifications 12 or 24 Volts D.C.
