Dieses Leder hat ganz individuellen Charakter, wird als ursprünglich, naturbelassen und edel bezeichnet. Die einzelnen Hautporen sind noch sehr gut sichtbar. Wenn man mit dem Fingernagel darüberfährt, hinterlässt man eine „Spur”, welche sich aber beim Gebrauch von selbst wieder zurechtpoliert. Die ursprüngliche Oberfläche mit allen Natur- und Wachstumsmerkmalen (Insektenstiche,
Kratzer, Masfalten, Struktur- und Farbeunterschiede) bleiben damit partiell sichtbar. Das Anilin-Leder zählt zu den offenporigen Glattledern, die keine Pigmentschicht auf der Oberseite aufweist. Durch die unbehandelte Oberfläche ist das Leder sehr empfindlich und anfällig für Flecken und Gebrauchsspuren. Der Schmutz oder Feuchtigkeit können sehr leicht in das empfindliche Leder eindringen.
Es entwickelt im Laufe der Zeit einen individuellen Charakter, diese „Patina” macht den Charme von Anilin-Leder aus. Es entsteht ein authentischer Used- und Vintage-Look, bei dem auch größere
Abweichungen in Farbe, Glanz und Schliff möglich sind. Die Eigenschaften des Anilin-Leders sollten von dem Kunden akzeptiert werden, weil diese der Garantie nicht unterliegen. Das Leder darf auf keinen Fall mit Seife oder anderen Reinigungsmitteln behandelt werden. Es ist empfohlen, nur mit einem trockenen Tuch zu reinigen. Die Verwendung von Reinigungsmitteln erfolgt auf eigenes Risiko und stellt keinen Grund zu der Reklamation dar.
