OpenVMS AXP Version 6.1 Release Notes for DEC 3000 Models 700 and 900 AXP
EK–VMS61–RN. A01
August 1994
Dear Customer,
This document describes anomalies in some of the applications running under
OpenVMS AXP Version 6.1 on DEC 3000 Models 700 and 900 AXP systems.
These problems will be fixed in the next release of the OpenVMS AXP operating
system.
DECsound Application
A problem was discovered in OpenVMS AXP on DEC 3000 Models 700 and 900
AXP systems late in the development cycle that adversely affects the use of the
DECsound application.
To automatically disable the use of this driver at startup, edit the SYCONFIG.COM
procedure to exclude SOdriver startup as follows:
$ MC SYSMAN IO AUTOCONFIGURE/EXCLUDE=SO*
DECevent Application
DECevent interrupt error code additions for DEC 3000 Models 700 and 900 AXP
systems are as follows:
The OpenVMS AXP V6.1 version of DECevent is missing ten (10) error codes in
the interrupt/exception register in the DEC 3000 Models 700 and 900 AXP system
support.
If the field labeled as error_code (immediately following the BC_TAG register) is
higher than hex 3F, then the following translations are used:

Open3D/ZLX-M Application
When a ZLX-M module is installed, OpenVMS AXP reports bad pages of memory.
For a 64 MB system, it reports 44 bad pages.
The system firmware puts away some pages for use by the ZLX-M to ensure it
can be accessed physically contiguous. This causes OpenVMS AXP to report them
as bad. The pages are actually just set aside.
The reported bad pages will not impact the working of the system or graphics.
