OMEGA DMD4059, -DC Strain Gauge to DC Isolated Transmitter User’s Guide

The DMD4059 and DMD4059-DC are strain gauge to DC isolated transmitters that accept input from one to four strain gauges, bridge sensors, load cells, or pressure transducers. They filter, amplify and convert the millivolt signal into a selected DC voltage or current output that is linearly related to the input.

Frequently asked questions

The DMD4059 accepts input from one to four strain gauges, bridge sensors, load cells, or pressure transducers. The maximum input range is up to four 350 Ω bridges at 10 VDC excitation.

The DMD4059 has multiple output ranges including voltage (0-1 VDC to 0-10 VDC), bipolar voltage (±5 VDC or ±10 VDC), and current (0-2 mA DC to 0-25 mA DC).

The DMD4059 has a zero offset (tare) adjustment that allows you to compensate for non-zero deadweights or other sensor offsets. This allows you to get zero output when a load is on the platform, or to compensate for low-output sensors.

The DMD4059 has sense leads that monitor the voltage drop in the sensor leads and automatically compensate the excitation voltage at the module to maintain a constant excitation voltage at the sensor.

The DMD4059 has an operating ambient temperature range of -10 °C to +60 °C and a stability of better than ±0.02% of span per °C.

The DMD4059 has a switch-selectable excitation voltage that can be set in 1 V increments from 0 to 10 VDC. After installation you can use a fine adjust potentiometer to precisely trim the excitation voltage.

The DMD4059 has a full 3-way isolation (input, output, power), making it useful for ground loop elimination and signal isolation. The isolation rating is 1200 VRMS min.
