Connecting your cable modem battery backup.

The following illustration shows the installation and replacement of the battery backup for the Arris TM804G cable modem.

Follow these steps for replacing an existing battery backup or connecting the battery backup for the first time.

1. Press down and pull back on the latch holding the battery backup door (on the bottom of the Telephony Modem). Pull the door toward you. Set the door aside in a safe place.

2. Place the battery backup on a firm horizontal surface.

CAUTION: Risk of equipment damage

Improperly inserting the battery backup may damage the battery backup connector in the Cable Modem.

Carefully follow the instructions in the next step to avoid damage.

3. Position the Telephony Modem over the battery backup, aligning the slots on the battery bay with the tabs on the battery backup. Push straight down on the Telephony Modem until the battery latch clicks into place.

Note: You may need to push down gently on the front of the Telephony Modem to latch the battery backup in place. The Telephony Modem will not begin operating until you connect to the power source.

4. To remove the battery backup, grasp the battery backup and pull back on the latch at the front of the battery backup. Then gently rock it out of the bay.
