Fiche technique du SDD SDD TECHNICAL MANUAL OIL GRIT SEPARATOR SYSTEM (SDD) ( 01/02/2016 1 Technical manual Oil and sand removal system (SDD) Description : Treatment unit (separator) hydrodynamic, oil and sand extractor – Circular SDD (In-line and Off-Line). Use : System designed to capture matter in suspension (M.E.S.) including fine particles, oil, stormwater runoff, and grease. Standard : Meet policy requirements of MDDELCC as well as NJDEP 2013 protocol. Tests has been conducted by an independent laboratory, “Centre Des technologies de L’eau”, validated and supervised by an independent qualified firm. SDD system is made to reduce 60 % amount of annual charge suspended solids of granulometric curve of particles between 2 and 1000 μm and with a mass median diameter of less than 75 μm (micron). Efficiency : Conception and configuration of the system SDD BRUNET fosters a double action vortex, ensuring an optimal treatment level, in either light or heavy rain, and avoiding re-suspension of particles. SDD removes 95% of floating oil without any possible re-suspension. Network operation : SDD system can be installed «IN-LINE» or «OFF-LINE», in series or in parallel, depending on the need. Where an exceptional raining event occurs (1/10 years), polluant would not escape. Moreover, this system has no effect on hydraulic grade line (HGL) Manufacturing standards : Construction is made with reinforced concrete and meets N.Q. 1809300, B.N.Q. 2622-420 and DN-II-3-002 standards of the “Ministère des Transports du Québec”. Inside components : Separation device is made of 5052-H32 aluminium, which is an alloy with high mechanical properties, resistant to thermal treatments and has a good resistance to vibration fatigue. This alloy has an excellent corrosion resistance, even in saltwater. 2 Technical manual Oil and sand removal system (SDD) Maintenance : SDD needs regular inspection and maintenance when necessary, to guarantee optimum performance. Inspection should be done at least twice a year (spring and autumn). However, more frequent inspections will be required if unit is thoroughly washed, for example, if exposed to salt and sand during the winter, this can quickly fill the unit with sediments. SDD must be cleaned when sediment has accumulated to B the maximum depth in the processing vault. This level can be determined by taking two measurements with a graduated instrument. Inspection : First measurement should be taken from the opened manhole up to the horizontal plate ( see Figure 2: Maintenance Inspection - step 1) Second measurement should be taken from the opened manhole up to the surface of the accumulated sediments. Access to the sediment layer is through one of the holes labelled CONE (see Figure 3: Maintenance Inspection - step 2). If the result between these 2 measurements is lower or equal to B, SSD maintenance should be conducted so that efficient performance of the unit can be maintained. For more details, refer to maintenance manual. Cleaning : The simplest method of removing pollutants from the SDD is by using a vacuum truck. No need to enter, only remove the cover and insert the cleaning hose into manhole. The pollutants must be disposed of in accordance with current regulation. It is important to wash with a high pressure hose to entirely remove mud. For more details, refer to maintenance manual. If a maintenance employee enters the unit, working in confined areas rules must be applied. 3 Technical manual Oil and sand removal system (SDD) (SDD Table 1 : Dimensions & C Capacities of SDD IN-LINE and OFF-LINE IN-LINE / OFF-LINE LINE Volume sediments 100% Sizes of SDD (m) Model Volume oil maximum Process Maximum and Diameter flow (rain flow (1/10 floating pipeline 1/6 month) years)) matter SDD DIA (m) A (m) B (m) m3 L mm l/sec l/sec 900 1200 1500 1600 1800 2100 2400 3000 3600 4000 0,910 1,210 1,515 1,597 1,825 2,125 2,435 3,040 3,650 4,000 1,39 1,70 1,95 2,00 2,20 2,49 2,68 3,24 3,81 4,14 1,00 1,25 1,47 1,52 1,705 1,985 2,274 2,840 3,409 3,736 0,5 1,0 1,7 1,9 2,6 3,5 3,7 5,8 8,4 10,1 149 355 682 810 1223 1938 2914 5680 9840 16830 450 600 750 900 1050 1200 1500 1500 1500 1500 15,3 27,0 42,3 47,0 61,3 83,1 109,2 170,1 248,0 299,0 30,5 53,9 84,5 93,9 122,6 166,3 218,3 340,3 490,5 589,1 4 Technical manual Oil and sand removal system (SDD) (SDD Figure 1 : Components of SDD type 5 Technical manual Oil and sand removal system (SDD) Figure 2 : Maintenance Inspection – step 1 6 Technical manual Oil and sand removal system (SDD) (SDD Figure 3 : Maintenance Inspection – step 2 7
