Upgrading the memory on the Inspiron 530s.

INTRODUCTION
This computer has 4 memory slots and can take 4GB of memory. It uses DDR2 667 or
800MHz speed memory. If you install a Foxconn G33M03 motherboard, it can take 8GB of
RAM with a BIOS update.

Step 3
 If you have one that shipped with
2GB stock, it has two free memory
slots you can use since the board
has 4 RAM slots. Depending on the
memory it has from the factory,
you may have to remove and
replace memory. It's best to match
all the modules if you can do so.

Push the 2 clips on the memory
slots outward, being careful not to
break them.
 While you can get away with
mixing memory modules, the
performance can suffer if the CAS
latencies and speeds don't match.
The factory memory is also cheap
junk too. It will probably slow the
new RAM down.

Step 4

Undo the locking tabs for the memory modules.
Step 5

Put the sticks of memory in the
slots loose to make sure you're
putting them in right before pushing
down.

Step 6

Once you have seen the memory is
put in right, push down until the
memory clicks.
 Do this on both sides evenly to be
sure this is being done right.
Step 7

Replace the midframe in the computer as shown. Don't be discouraged if this takes a few
tries to get right. It can be difficult to fit.

This tab has to match the case to lock the bracket down. It will not lock down without this
clip in the guide hole on the case.

Step 8

Replace the side panel on the computer, and the thumbscrews if you have them.
Step 9

Verify the RAM installed matches
what Windows sees
 If you have a 32-bit OS and you
install 4GB of RAM and doesn't see
more then 3.25GB and 3.5GB for
Windows Vista/7/8.x. This is
normal.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
