Frequently asked questions

The LHC001A is a compact media converter that converts between 100Base-TX twisted pair and 100Base-FX multi-mode or single-mode fiber.

It features diagnostic LEDs for each port, a universal power supply, and supports FiberAlert and LinkLoss troubleshooting features.

Place the unit on a flat surface, connect the cables, and plug the unit into a reliable power source.

You can configure the crossover/pass-through connection, enable Auto-Negotiation, and enable FiberAlert.

FiberAlert helps detect faults on the fiber loop by stopping data transmissions and affecting fiber LEDs. If a media converter is not receiving a fiber link, it disables its fiber transmitter, mirroring the link status of the opposite end of the fiber.

LinkLoss functions similarly to FiberAlert but for the twisted pair port. If the fiber port on the media converter is not receiving a link pulse, it disables the transmitter on the twisted pair port, resulting in a loss of link on the remote twisted pair device.

To enable Auto-Negotiation, move the corresponding switch on the faceplate next to the fiber connectors to the up (ON) position.

To enable TX and FX LinkLoss, remove the cover from the unit, locate the three-pin jumpers JP1 and JP2, and place them accordingly as per the jumper configuration chart.
