C OIN C HANGER O PERATIONAL C HECK
Once the unit is installed perform the manufacturers’ steps to ensure the Generic
Coin Changer is communicating with the Vending Machine’s Controller (VMC).
To complete the installation, perform a complete system test by inserting a $5
Note (Bill) while in Normal Mode, purchase a product with a vend price of less than $4, and verify that the correct change is dispensed from the RC-10 Recycler as notes (Bills) and the Generic Coin Changer as coin change.
Having installed the three pieces of system equipment, and interconnected all of the harnessing, energize (Power-up) the Vending Machine, and allow the machine adequate time for the VMC electronics to enable the payment system.
Perform the following steps listed in Table 6 to verify the system is operating
properly:

OPTIPAY ® VERTO ™ INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
To install a Verto ™ Module and its Tri-Connector Harness plugs proceed as follows:
1. Mount the Verto ™ Module to a convenient location between the combination
DBV-30X/RC-10 units and the Generic MDB Coin Changer. Ensure the location is close enough the RC-10 for the associated 4-Pin Tri-Connector Harness Plug to reach.
NOTE: a 24-inch extension cable is also available (Part N
Q/N 400-100187) if close Verto mounting is difficult.
2. Connect the large 14-Pin Verto ™ Tri-Connector Harness Plug into the Verto ™
Unit.
3. Connect the Generic MDB Coin Changer’s 6-Pin Male Connector Plug into the
6-Pin Female Receptacle of the Verto parts 3 & 4).

Once the unit is installed, perform the following steps to ensure the DBV-30X is communicating with the MDB.
1. Power up the unit.
2. Wait for the LEDs on the front panel to stop flashing.
When the LEDs are solid the unit is in its operational mode.
3. Insert a bill and make sure the bill value inserted matches the value indicated on the machine’s front panel display.
4. Press the coin return lever to clear the machine’s credit.

Once the unit is installed perform the following steps to ensure the RC-10 is in its operational mode.
1. When the RC-10 has been filled with bills, press Button #1 to dispense a bill through the DBV-30X then,
2. Press Button #2 to send bills to the Cash Box.
NOTE: A $5 bill can be inserted and a product selection made to cause the RC-10 to dispense bills as change.
3. Press the related button(s) on the Generic Coin Changer to reset all counters.

The three Push Buttons shown in Figure 14 provide
the following functions:
1. Push button #1 (Top) when pressed will dispense a bill through the DBV-30X.
2. Push button #2 (Middle) when pressed will send a bill to the Cash Box. If it is held down it will keep sending bills to the Cash Box until released.
3. Push Button #3 (Bottom) when pressed will begin a fill mode through the DBV-30X Bill Acceptor.
This button is also used to reset the unit.

OPTIPAY ® RC-10 TO DBV-30X COMMUNICATIONS
Figure 15 shows the communications cable connection between the RC-10 and
DBV-30X.
Once the RC-10 Recycler is mounted on top of the DBV-30X Bill Validator, connect the loose end 16-pin female connector of the
RC-10 Communications Cable to the mating 16-pin male receptacle on the
DBV-30X.
Listen for a click when pressing the connector into the receptacle. Gently tug on the connection to ensure it is locked firmly into place.
The upper RC-10 connection is identical, with the cable harness having the same female connector at either end.
To remove a connector from its receptacle, gently squeeze the sides of the plug and pull the plug loose from the receptacle.

RC-10 BILL LOADING INSTRUCTIONS
To load the RC-10 Recycler, perform the following steps:
1. Press Button #3. LEDs on the front of the DBV-30X will begin flashing rapidly if the unit is not full of bills.
2. Insert bills.
3. Bills can now be inserted in all four directions.
NOTE: Not all bills will be accepted by the Recycler. Bills in poor condition (i.e., worn, torn, defaced, etc.) will be sent to the Cash Box.
When the DBV-30X LED's stop flashing the RC-10 is full, the Green LED on the
RC-10 will flash single flashes and it will not accept any more bills.
NOTE: A machine credit will occur if a bill is inserted after the DBV-
30X Bezel LEDs stop flashing. The RC-10 LED status should be checked after an auto fill mode has occurred. If the LED is ON (lit) solid, the RC-10 requires bills (Repeat steps 1-3). If the LED is constantly flashing one flash at a time, the RC-10 is full.
RC-10 DIP SWITCH SETTINGS & PUSH BUTTON FUNCTIONS
To use the functions provided by the four RC-10 DIP Switches, refer to the JCM
Web-Site under the Customer Service pull-down menu . The access cover release lever function and the external communications cable to the DBV-30X are also
indicated in Figure 13.RC-10 Push Button Functions.
1. Four position DIP Switch Block.
2. Access cover locking lever (Rotate the release lever counter clockwise and remove the access door).
3. RC-10 to DBV-301 Communication Cable.

RC-10 DIP Switches are currently accurate, refer to the software specifications listed for the specific DBV-301 software presently being used. They can be found at the JCM Web-Site at www.jcm-american.com/Products/Soft-

PRIMARY OPTIPAY ® RC RECYCLER COMPONENTS
Figure 11 illustrates the primary component parts of an optional RC-10
Recycler.

The Green LED provides the following two illumination conditions:
1. LED OFF: Connection Failure
2. LED ON: Normal operation
The Green LED also flashes to provide 15 different types of error codes. Definitions of
these codes are listed in Table 5 on page 11
of this guide.

To install or remove the RC-10 follow the steps outlined in Figure 12.
1. Remove the DBV-30X Cash Box.
NOTE: The Cash Box MUST be removed in order to proceed!
2. Lever #1 is used to remove the Cash Box following installation.
a) Press down on the lever to release the
Cash Box and pull the Cash Box up and out.
3. Lever #2 is used to install and remove the RC-10.
a) To install/remove the RC-10 press/ rotate the lever down to the left, holding it down while sliding the unit in or out.
NOTE: During installation or removal, always unplug the communications connector from the side of the DBV-30X and RC-10 then reconnect it when finished.
4. Replace the Cash Box.
5. Connect the 4-pin Verto Generic Coin
Changer communications harness to the rear of the RC-10.

The default settings for the DBV-30X Bill Validator are as follows: 1. All 8 DIP Switches on the Small (Lower) DIP Switch Block are set to OFF. 2. The Upper DIP Switch Block (Large/Red or Small/White) settings are OFF for accept $1, $5, $10, $20, and all DIP Switches 5-8 are set to OFF as default.
The kit includes a Verto Module, a DBV-30X Bill Validator, a Generic MDB Coin Changer, and the necessary harnessing to connect these components.
Press Button #3 on the RC-10 to initiate the bill loading process. Bills can be inserted in all four directions. The DBV-30X LED's will flash rapidly until the RC-10 is full. When the RC-10 is full, the Green LED on the RC-10 will flash one time.
The DBV-30X should be mounted flush to the door surface. To install the DBV-30X, begin by removing the Cash Box. Then, press down on the lever located on the side of the DBV-30X to release the Cash Box and pull it up and out.
The RC-10 Recycler can only be used with the DBV-30X Bill Validator and a Verto interfaced Generic MDB Coin Changer!
