Inputs
Installation & Cabling
1. If desired, mount the 1U high switcher in a standard 19" rack.
2. RGB video input – Connect up to 4 or 6 RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB,
RsGsBs, or component video inputs.
3. Audio input (if applicable) – Connect up to 4 or 6 audio inputs. See
“Audio Connections”, at right to wire captive screw connectors.
4. RGB video output – Connect an RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB, RsGsBs, or
component video display or other device.
5. Audio output (if applicable) – Connect an audio audio device, such
as an audio amplifier or powered speakers. See “Audio Connections”,
at right, to wire captive screw connectors.
CAUTION Incorrect audio connector wiring can damage the switcher.
See the “Audio Connections”, at right.
6. Remote/RS-232 Port – Connect a remote host or contact closure device.
a. RS-232 (all models) – Pin 2 = TX, pin 3 = RX, pin 5 = Gnd.
b. Contact closure – Pin 1 = In# 1, pin 4 = In# 2, pin 6 = In# 3,
pin 7 = In# 4, pin 8 = In# 5, pin 9 = In# 6, pin 5 = Gnd.
Momentarily tie an In# pin to Gnd to select that input.
Speakers
7. Connect power.
On audio models, audio input and outputs use captive screw connectors.
The examples below show unbalanced and balanced methods of wiring the
captive screw audio connectors for input and output. If you are wiring a
captive screw connector from an existing unbalanced audio cable, the white
insulated wire is typically the left channel (tip) and the red insulated wire is
typically the right channel (sleeve). There is no reliable standard for existing
balanced audio cables.
Outputs
The Extron SW RGBHV Switchers are a family of RGB video and/or audio
switchers. Each audio input's (if applicable) level can be displayed and
adjusted through a range of -18 dB to +24 dB. In autoswitching mode, the
switchers automatically select the highest-numbered input with a sync
signal present.
