Important safeguards

Utilization of the product

If you want to dispose this product, do not mix it with general household waste. There is a separate collection system for used electronic products in accordance with legislation that requires proper treatment, recovery and recycling.

Please contact your local authorities for the correct method of disposal. By doing so, you will ensure that your disposed product undergoes the necessary treatment, recovery and recycling and thus prevent potential negative effects on the environment and human health.

Important safeguards

The lightning flash is intended to alert the user to the presence of dangerous voltage within the product's enclosure, and touching the inner parts may result in a risk of electric shock to persons.

The exclamatory mark is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating instructions.

To reduce the risk of electric shock or fire, do not open the cover. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

This mark indicates this unit belongs to class 1 laser product. The laser beam may produce radiation harm to the directly touching human body.

To prevent the risk of fire or electric shock, don’t allow water to come into contact with the device and don’t use the device in high humidity conditions.

The device is equipped with high voltage components and a laser system; hence you shall not open the device and repair it by yourself. The laser beam is dangerous to eyes when the housing is removed. Don’t look at it.

When the device is moved from cold premises to the warm room or vice versa, condensate may form on the laser head and the device may not operate properly. In this case please turn the device on for 1-2 hours without disc before playback to heat it to a proper operation temperature.

Please place the device in a dry and well-aired area. Do not place it near heating units or expose it to direct sunlight, mechanical vibration, humidity or excessive dust.

Never use liquid detergents, abrasives or organic compounds (alcohol, gasoline, etc) to clean the unit body.

All repairs and technical service should be made by qualified specialist from service centers.

All images provided herein are schematic drawings and may differ from real objects.

Power supply

Battery operation

Open the battery compartment cover.

Insert 8 pcs of C-type (UM2) batteries. Please observe correct battery polarities or the set will not work.

Close the battery compartment cover.

AC operation

Before the first connecting of the appliance check that voltage indicated on the rating label corresponds to the mains voltage in your home.

Plug the corresponding end of cord into the power socket on the rear of the set.

Insert the plug into power supply.

Caution:

When the set is only used with AC or is not used for 2 weeks or more, please remove the batteries, to avoid damage to the set from leakage of batteries.

Always switch off the unit when not in use.

Always unplug the appliance from power supply, when no use long time.

Connection

Headphones

For private listening, insert 3.5-mm headphone into the headphone jack on the back panel. Adjust volume control to the appropriate level as desired. When the stereo headphone jack is plugged, speakers will disconnect automatically.

Video output

Use the cable with yellow plug of an AV cable to connect the video output of this unit to the video input of a TV/monitor.

S-video

Use an S-video cable to connect the S-Video output of this unit to the S-Video input of your TV/monitor.

Stereo audio

Use a pair of AV cables (red for right/white for left) to connect the stereo audio outputs of this unit to the TV or a stereo input of power amplifier.

MIC jack

MIC jack is used to connect a microphone (not included) to this unit.

Battery installation

1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the RC.

2. Insert the batteries into the battery compartment making sure that the correct polarity is observed.

3. Install the cover back.

Use two AAA/1.5V batteries for the RC. The RC should be pointed at remote sensor within 8 meters and within 30 degrees at the left or the right side.

Take the battery out of the RC if it is not used for a long time.

Do not mix new and used batteries or different types of batteries. Weak batteries can leak and severely damage the RC

General operations

Mute function

Press MUTE button on the RC to turn off the sound. Press the button again or adjust volume to resume the sound output.

Volume control

Press VOLUME+/VOLUME- buttons on the RC or rotate VOLUME regulator on the unit to decrease or increase sound volume level.

Radio operations

Band selection

Select radio mode by setting FUNCTION switch to Radio position. Set BAND switch to AM, FM or FM ST positions to select

AM band, FM or FM-stereo band correspondingly. While receiving FM stereo, the FM ST indicator on the front panel will light up. If the signal is weak, select FM band – this will reduce reception background noise.

Station tuning

Rotate TUNING regulator to tune the receiver to the needed frequency. The frequency will be shown in the dial scale window.

Antenna

For FM reception, adjust the telescopic antenna appropriately to obtain the best reception on the band selected.

The AM signals are picked up through the built-in antenna. The set should be placed to an appropriate position for the best reception.

Disc operations

Insert discs

Set FUNCTION switch to DVD/USB/SD position. Open the disc compartment cover by pressing OPEN button and insert a disc into the compartment with label side up. Close the disc compartment. The first file in the root folder will be played.

MP3/DivX/JPEG file playback

When you insert a storage containing MP3/DivX/JPEG file, the screen will show following interface:

1. Storage folder list

2. Scroll bar

3. Current playback info

4. Current folder content (current file is highlighted)

5. Scroll bar

6. Audio track selection

7. Image file selection

8. Video file selection

Use cursor buttons to navigate in the interface and press ENTER button to confirm your selection.

Note: Manufacturer guarantees regular playback of licensed discs only. Some AVI files cannot be played due to their parameters and recording conditions. Video files more than 2 Gb having AVI extension can be played partially.

Play/Pause/Stop

During playback press PLAY/PAUSE button on the RC or on the unit to pause playback. Do this operation again to resume playback. To stop playback, press STOP button on the RC or on the unit once – the playback can be resumed from the stop point. If you press STOP button twice, playback can be started only from the beginning.

Selecting tracks/chapters

During playback press SKIP- button on the unit or on the RC to play the previous track/chapter (depending on the format). Press SKIP+ button on the unit or on the RC to play the next track/chapter. Press number buttons (0-9) on the

RC to select the desired track/chapter.

Fast forward/rewind

Press and hold repeatedly SKIP- or SKIP+ button on the unit or press repeatedly REW or FWD buttons on the RC for fast backward or forward playing correspondingly. With each pressing and holding playback speed will increase as follows: x2

=> x4 => x8 => x20 => Normal. While fast playback, press PLAY/PAUSE button on the RC or on the unit to resume normal speed.

Repeat playback

Press repeatedly REPEAT button on the unit or REP button on the RC for repeat playing in different modes: track/chapter repeat, folder repeat, disc repeat, repeat cancel (depending on the format used).

Random playback

Press RAN button on the RC to activate random playing mode. Press one more time to return to normal playing.

Intro playback

Press INTRO button on the RC to activate intro playing mode, beginning of each track will be played for several seconds.

Press one more time to return to normal playing.

Time playback

Press TIME button to show the playback parameters for the current chapter/track/time (track/title/chapter number or time). Press cursor buttons to navigate between the parameters and use number buttons to input needed settings. Press

ENTER button on the RC to start playback from the set number or time.

Programming the playback

Press PROG button on the RC to open program menu.

Use cursor buttons to select the program position and use number buttons to input the desired track/title/chapter

(depending on the disc type).

Press PLAY/PAUSE button to start program play, or move the cursor to select PLAY and press ENTER button on the

RC to play.

Move the cursor to CLEAR, press ENTER button on the RC to delete the programmed list. Press PROG button to quit programming.

OSD (On Screen Display) function

Press OSD button on the RC repeatedly to show current playback information, such as number of track/chapter/title, current track/chapter/title time elapsed/remaining, total track/chapter/title time remaining (depending on the disc type).

Zooming in/out

During playback of video or images, press repeatedly ZOOM button on the RC, the picture will be zoomed in the sequence: X2 =>X3 =>X4 =>X1/2 => X1/3 => X1/4 => Normal. When the image is zoomed in, you can move it by pressing cursor buttons.

Slow playback

During playback press repeatedly SLOW button on the RC to select slow playback. While slow playback, press

PLAY/PAUSE button on the RC to resume normal playback.

Step playback

During playback press repeatedly STEP button on the RC for frame-by-frame playback. While step playback, press

PLAY/PAUSE button on the RC to resume normal playback.

A-B repeat

During playback press A-B button on the RC to set the beginning point of the fragment to repeat. Press A-B button again to set the final point. The selected fragment will be repeated. Press A-B button again to return to normal playback.

PBC (Playback Control) function (for VCD only)

This function is only available for the VCD with PBC function. Press PBC button on the RC to set PBC on/off; when PBC is off, the screen will show PBC menu if you switch PBC on. If the menu consists of a list of titles, you can select a desired one using number buttons on the RC.

Return (for VCD only)

Press RETURN button on the RC to return to the previous menu of the disc (only for VCDs supporting PBC).

3D sound

Press 3D button on the RC to enable 3D mode menu. In this menu press cursor buttons for navigation and press ENTER button to confirm your selection. You can select 5 surround sound modes or 5 equalizer modes. Press 3D button again to disable 3D mode menu.

Resume playback

During DVD playback, press RESUME button on the RC to resume playback from the stop point.

Clearing data

After you input erroneous numbers, press CLEAR button to delete them.

Sound pitch control

Press PITCH UP/PITCH DOWN buttons on the RC to raise or lower the sound pitch. Press PITCH NORMAL button to reset the pitch to initial state.

Changing angle (for DVD only)

Press ANGLE/DEL button on the RC to playback images at different camera angles. If a disc doesn’t support multi-angle playback, this function will not work.

Selecting audio language (for DVD only)

During DVD disc playback, press LANG button on the RC repeatedly to select the audio language to listen. This function will not work if a disc does not support multi-language audio.

Selecting subtitle language (for DVD only)

If your DVD disc supports multi-language subtitle, press SUB/RIPPING button on the RC repeatedly to switch among disc-supported languages.

Selecting sound channel

During VCD/CD disc playback repeatedly press R/L button on the RC to select the channel: Auto left => Auto right =>

Mono left => Mono right => Stereo.

Selecting video system

While video playback, press repeatedly P/N button on the RC to select the video system (NTSC/PAL).

Menu navigation

Press MENU button on the RC to activate the disc menu list on the screen. Choose the desired item with cursor buttons. Press ENTER button on the RC to confirm the selected item and start playing.

When playing a DVD, press TITLE button on the RC to go to the title list of the disc.

Note: Title and menu are only available if the disc has these functions.

ID3 Tag function

If an MP3 file has ID3-tag information in the supported format, such information will be displayed while playback

Ripping

This unit has Ripping function converting from CDDA format to the compressed MP3 format onto a USB drive or SD/MMC card. RIPPING function has a simple and intuitive menu. To display the Ripping menu, press SUB/RIPPING button on the RC while a CD playback. A USB-drive or memory card should be connected to the unit. For navigation in the menu use cursor buttons and press ENTER button to confirm your option.

In Options menu page you can set ripping speed and bitrate, enable or disable automatic ID3-tag copying (if CD text info is available in the source CD), create play-list and select USB or Card as destination storage (if both of them are connected).

In Track menu page you can select tracks for ripping (all tracks are selected by default; press ENTER to select the highlighted track). To start converting process, select “Start” and press ENTER button.

Note: When X1 speed is selected, file ripping is performed in real time, so you can listen to files currently under ripping.

When X4 speed is selected, listening is unavailable.

After ripping is started, a menu will appear showing the progress of the procedure. In this menu you can change the ripping speed or cancel ripping.

Notes:

A folder named RIPPING is created on the USB-drive or memory card for the ripped files. If such a folder already exists on the storage, ripping operation is unavailable.

To avoid data loss, do not disconnect the USB-drive or memory card until ripping is completed.

Deleting data from USB/SD/MMC

Start USB or card playback. Select a file or a folder to be deleted, then press ANGLE/DEL button on the RC. The selected item will be deleted.

USB/SD/MMC operation

USB/SD/MMC notes

USB format supports 2.0. Capacity: up to 8 Gb.

For correct and satisfactory operation, licensed SD/MMC memory cards of famous brands should be used with this unit.

Avoid using memory cards of unknown brands. Capacity: up to 8 Gb.

Inserting SD/MMC card/USB device

Set FUNCTION switch to DVD/USB/SD position. Insert an MMC/SD card or a USB device into MMC/SD slot or USB slot.

Press MODE button on the unit to select USB or SD mode. The first card/USB device track playback will start. All the operations with files stored in a memory card or USB are the same as described in Disc Operations for file discs.

Note: Items in gray can't be set up. The setup is memorized and kept after power off.

System setup page

Source: Disc, Card or USB.

TV system: PAL or NTSC.

Power resume: When this function is on, the unit can memorize the time elapsed from the last time you played the disc. Then at the next playing, it will resume playing from the memorized time.

Video: S-Video.

TV type

4:3/PS: When the unit is connected to the normal TV set, the wide-screen image is shown on the full screen, but some part is cut off.

4:3/LB: When the unit is connected to the normal TV set, the wide-screen image is shown and black bars appear on the top and bottom of screen.

16:9: Use this item when the unit is connected to the normal TV set, if you want to squeeze the picture.

Password: Change the password. The initial factory password is 0000. You can set your own password. If you forget your own password, you can use 0000 as general password.

Parental: The control level is for parental to control playing content and protect your children from violence and erotic. The disc, the level of which is higher than the setting level cannot be played.

Default: Restore the initial factory settings.

Language setup

OSD language: Select the language to be used for the on-screen display.

Audio language: Select the language to be used for the audio. You can select a preferred audio from those included in the disc.

Subtitle language: Select the language to be used for the Subtitles. You can select a preferred subtitle from those included in the disc.

Menu language: Select the language to be used for the disc Menu. You can select a preferred audio from those included in the disc.

Audio setup

Key: Select key up/down according to your preference.

Mic setup: switch the microphone input on or off.

Echo: Adjust the microphone echo level.

Mic vol: Adjust the microphone volume level.

Video setup

Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, Sharpness: You can set the sharpness, brightness and contrast according to your preference.

Dolby Digital setup

OP mode: Line out/RF Remod

Dynamic range (available in Line Out mode)

If watching large dynamic scope movie program at night, selecting this mode you can reduce the volume to a very low level, at the same time, to keep the fine details sound. In this case, this doesn't disturb the family and keep the quality sounds.

Dual Mono

Stereo: stereo output signal,

L-Mono: left output signal,

R-Mono: right output signal,

Mix-Mono: left and right output average signal.

General information

Handling compact discs

Do not insert anything other than a CD into the disc tray.

Do not use cracked, chipped, warped, or otherwise damaged discs as they may cause damage to the player.

Handle the disc only by the edges (as shown in the picture). To keep discs clean do not touch its surface.

Store discs in their cases when not in use.

Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high humidity, high temperature or dust.

Prolonged exposure to extreme temperature can wrap a disc.

Do not attach labels, write on or apply chemicals to the surface of the discs.

Do not touch the recorded surface of the discs.

Use 12-cm CDs. Use only conventional, fully circular discs. Do not use irregularly shaped discs.

Cleaning discs

Fingerprints should be carefully wiped from the surface of disc with a soft cloth. Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and macroscopic dirt, so gently wiping them with a soft cloth should remove must panicles. Wipe in a straight motion from the center to the edge.

Never use thinner benzine, record cleaner or anti static spray on a compact disc. Such chemicals can damage its plastic surface.
