Operation Assembly/removal Do not assemble/remove during operation! ➊ Insert the air motor with RM connection into the apertures of the turbine hose. ➋ Firmly screw the union nut on in a clockwise direction. ➌ Set the speed regulation ring to F or R. ➍ Check the leak-tightness of the air motor with RM connection. ➎ Unscrew the union nut anticlockwise from the supply hose. 9 ➊ Push the handpiece/contra-angle onto the motor until it engages audibly ➋. ➌ Check the connection to the motor is secure. ➍ Remove the handpiece/contra-angle using axial tension. 10 Rotary instruments > Use only rotary instruments which are in perfect condition. Observe the manufacturer’s recommendations. > Insert the rotary instrument only when the handpiece/contra-angle is stationary. > Never touch rotary instruments which are still rotating. > Do not activate the chuck lever of the handpiece or the latch of the contra-angle handpiece during operation or slowing down. This leads to detachment of the rotary instrument and damages the chuck lever/latch. 11 RC-43 ➊ Open the chuck lever. ➋ Insert the rotary instrument up to the back stop. ➌ Close the chuck lever. ➍ Check that the rotary instrument is held securely by applying axial tension. ➎ Open the chuck lever and remove the rotary instrument ➏. 12 RC-58 ➊ Open the latch. ➋ Insert the rotary instrument up to the back stop and turn until it engages. ➌ Close the latch. ➍ Check that the rotary instrument is held securely by applying axial tension. ➎ Open the latch and remove the rotary instrument ➏. 13 Test run RC-25 E RM > Start the air motor. > Rotate the speed regulation ring to »F« (forward) or »R« (reverse). > Change from the minimum speed through to the maximum speed within 10 seconds. > Wipe the air motor with gauze. RC-43, RC-58 > Insert the rotary instrument. > Start the handpiece/contra-angle. > If you observe problems (e.g. vibrations, unusual noise, overheating, coolant supply failure or leakage), stop the motor, handpiece/contra-angle immediately. 14 5. Hygienic Maintenance > Follow your country-specific directives, standards and guidelines for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. > Wear protective clothing. > Remove the rotary instrument. > Remove the air motor from the supply hose and the handpiece/contra-angle from the air motor. > Clean and disinfect the air motor, handpiece/contra-angle immediately after every treatment, to rinse out any liquids that may have entered (e.g. blood, saliva, etc.) and prevent seizing up of the internal parts. > Sterilize the air motor, the handpiece/contra-angle following manual cleaning, disinfection and lubrication. > Sterilize the nozzle cleaner following cleaning and disinfection. 15 Pre-disinfection > If heavily soiled, clean first with disinfectant cloths. Only use disinfectants that have no protein-fixing effects. Manual cleaning internal and external ➊ Rinse under demineralised water (< 38°C) with the aid of a brush (not recommended in UK). ➋ Remove any liquid residues (absorbent cloth, blow dry with compressed air). Do not place the air motor, handpiece/contraangle in the disinfectant solution or the 16 ultrasonic bath. Cleaning the RC-E LS spray kit ➊ Clean the spray tubes with the nozzle cleaner and blow through using an air syringe ➋. 17 Cleaning the coolant channel Blow through the coolant channel with an air syringe. 18 Manual disinfection > Disinfection with disinfectants ➊ Application of disinfectant by wiping is recommended. > Use only disinfectants which do not contain chlorine and which are certified by officially recognized institutes. > Note the manufacturer’s specifications for the use of the disinfectants. After manual cleaning, disinfection and lubrication, you must carry out a final thermal disinfection (unwrapped) or sterilization (wrapped) in the class B or S steam sterilizer (as per EN 13060). 19 Daily lubrication Only with W&H Service Oil F1, MD-400 ➊ Set the speed regulation ring to F or R. > Follow the instructions for use on the oil spray can. or ➋ Only with W&H Assistina > See Assistina instructions for use. Recommended lubrication cycles > Essential after internal cleaning > Before each sterilization or > After 30 minutes of use, at least once daily 20 30 sek Test run following lubrication ➊ Set the speed regulation ring to F or R. Position the air motor with ISO connection and the handpiece/contra-angle with the head pointing downwards. ➋ Run the air motor, handpiece/contra-angle for 30 seconds to remove excess oil. Start at the minimum speed and increase to the maximum speed within 5 – 10 seconds. > Repeat the lubrication if dirt emerges. ➌ Wipe with gauze or a soft cloth. 21 Sterilization and storage W&H recommends sterilization according to EN 13060, class B. > > > > > Note the instructions of the unit manufacturer. Clean, disinfect and lubricate prior to sterilization. Wrap the air motor, handpiece/contra-angle and accessories in sterile goods packaging according to EN 868-5. Make sure that you only remove dry sterile goods from the sterilizer. Store sterile goods in a dust-free and dry condition. 22 Approved sterilization procedures Follow your country-specific directives, standards and guidelines. > Steam sterilization class B with sterilizers in accordance with EN 13060. Sterilization holding time of a minimum of 3 minutes at 134°C. or > Steam sterilization class S with sterilizers in accordance with EN 13060. The sterilizer manufacturer must give their express approval for the sterilization of air motors. Sterilization holding time of a minimum of 3 minutes at 134°C. 23 6.
