B. Masonry Fireplaces
Hood installation in masonry fireplace is similar to installation in factory-built fireplaces with no door track.
1. Remove glass door assembly if one is fitted to the
fireplace.
2. Adjust hood to fit fireplace opening.
3. Hold hood in position and mark lintel using slots for
guides.
4. Drill 9/64” holes thru lintel at marked locations. (Fig.
5) NOTE: Steel lintel is more difficult to drill than
sheet metal. Two or three screws are sufficient to
hold hood in place.
5. Attach hood to lintel with #10 x 1/2” screws provided.
NOTE: It may be easier to attach hood to lintel with
pop-rivets. In this case, enlarge holes to 1/8” and
attach hood to lintel with 1/8” x 1/2” pop-rivets (not
provided).
6. Drill side attachment holes in brick with masonry
drill and attach hood to brick with suitable masonry
anchors. (Not provided)
CAUTION: If you have a polished brass hood,
remove the protective covering before lighting log
set.
