1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. General Description
UDinfo mSATA delivers all the advantages of flash disk technology with the Serial ATA I/II/III interface and is
fully compliant with the standard mSATA form factor, known as JEDEC MO-300 standard. The module is
designed to operate at a maximum operating frequency of 300MHz with 40MHz external crystal. Its
capacity could provide a wide range up to 256GB. Moreover, it can reach up to 520MB/s read as well as
195MB/s write high performance based on Toshiba NAND flash (with 8MB/32MB SDR enabled and
measured by CrystalDiskMark v3.0). Meanwhile, the power consumption of the mSATA module is much
lower than traditional hard drives.

6.3. Write Protect Function
UDinfo’s MHD-52UD mSATA supports hardware write protect function. It contains a slide switch. By setting
the switch can enable or disable the Write protection function. This switch is used to set the device as a
write protection device after power up. When the switch is placed at Write Protect side, the data can’t be
written to the Flash Module. The module is then set as read only. If the switch is placed to Normal side, the
data can be written or be read as usual.
Note: this function can be control by host through the mSATA interface Pin 19. Please reference the Pin
Description of chapter 5.
6.4. Quick Erase Function
Hardware erase is a special design-in feature and the technology which provides a highly comprehensive
sanitization method. This function should be triggered by jump or push- button. There can be two results
after hardware erase and the result should be pre-selected upon request. The erase procedure will be
totally completed when power re-plug-in.
Note: this function can be control by host through the mSATA interface Pin 17. Please reference the Pin
Description of chapter 5.
Type 1:
Erase all operation blocks.
It terminates all the data in the drive, even user data, firmware and the management table. The drive
would be unable to perform its function anymore after Hardware erase.
Type2:
Erase user data only.
Only user data will be erased. Firmware and management table is reserved so the device would be able
to pursue its full functionality again after format. All the settings will return to its default initial status.
