Limit Switch Operating Head Replacement

IMPORTANT
IMPORTANT
It is imperative that the operating head is adjusted
according to these instructions during the replacement or
installation process.

ATTENTION: To avoid electrical shock and/or unintended
operation of equipment, disconnect all power to the limit
switch and the controlled equipment before proceeding with
any repair or adjustment of the limit switch.

Use a continuity indicator to check across electrical
contacts for proper switch operation. Check both contact
blocks. Do not rely on the audible indication of the switch
action.
Remove the operating head from the base and turn the adjustment screw
outward, or counter clockwise, one additional complete turn.
Fasten the operating head permanently to the base. Tighten the four
mounting screws to approximately 0.68 N•m (6 in•lb).

To remove the old operating head, remove the four mounting screws.
Turn the adjustment screw on the new operating head inward, or
clockwise, until it can turn no further. See Figure 1.
Turn the adjustment screw outward, or counter clockwise, one complete
turn.
IMPORTANT
Verify that the guide button is pushed down firmly on the
spring so that the hook end of the spring fits through the
slot of the guide button and the guide button sits squarely
on the diaphragm assembly, as shown in Figure 1. For the
switch to operate, the square diaphragm button must be
aligned with the square hole in the operating head.

Turn the adjustment screw on the new operating head inward, or
clockwise, until it can turn no further. See Figure 2.
Turn the adjustment screw outward, or counter clockwise, three complete
turns.
IMPORTANT

Operating Head

Secure the operating head to the switch base and check the switch
operation.
a. If the switch operates, proceed to step 5.
b. If the switch does not operate, remove the operating head from the
base and turn the adjustment screw outward, or counter clockwise, in
1/6 turn steps (one flat on the adjustment screw) until the switch
operates. Proceed to step 5.

Secure the operating head to the switch base. If then there is any
movement of the switch button (see Figure 3 on page 2), turn the adjusting
screw inward, or clockwise, in 1/6 turn steps (one flat on the adjustment
screw) until the switch button does not move.

Operate the operating head and check the switch operation.
a. If the switch operates, proceed to step 6.
b. If the switch fails to operate, repeat step 2…step 4. If after several
attempts the switch still fails to operate, it can be necessary to replace
the contact block assembly.
IMPORTANT
