Allen-Bradley 1492 Analog I/O Conversion Module Installation Instructions

Allen-Bradley 1492 Analog I/O Conversion Module enables seamless integration of legacy 1771 I/O modules into modern 1756 ControlLogix systems. It allows you to convert 1771 thermocouple input modules to either 1756 6 or 8 channel thermocouple input modules without field wire removal. The 1492 Conversion Module provides a convenient and cost-effective solution for upgrading your existing systems. The 1771 swing arm fits directly onto the conversion module, and the I/O signals are routed through the module and cable to the 1756 I/O module.

Frequently asked questions

The 1492 Conversion Module can convert 1771-IXE and 1771-IXHR thermocouple input modules. Refer to Table 2 in Section III of the viewed manual for compatibility details.

The 1492 Conversion Module has a grounding stud for connecting the shield wiring. The pre-wired cable between the module and the 1756 I/O module also provides a shield ground lug to ground the shield at the 1756 chassis. Ensure that the shield ground lug is connected to the 1756 ControlLogix chassis grounding point, but do not connect it to the conversion module grounding stud.

Read the installation manual carefully and understand the key application considerations for the specific combination of conversion module, cable, and input module. Ensure that the 1756 I/O module is configured for external CJC and that the correct input configuration is selected.
