PAiA 9751 Noise Source Owner's Manual

The Paia 9751 is a second-generation noise source module for modular synthesizers. It generates white, red, and blue noise using a transistor avalanche junction noise generator. The 9751 features a level control for volume adjustment and a trim potentiometer to adjust noise output level. It comes with three outputs for white, red, and blue noise, eliminating the need for external filters. This module is compatible with most modular synthesizer systems, making it a versatile addition to your setup.

Frequently asked questions

The Paia 9751 produces three types of noise: white, red, and blue. White noise contains all frequencies at equal levels, red noise has a low-frequency emphasis, and blue noise has a high-frequency emphasis.

The 9751 has a level control potentiometer for adjusting the overall volume output. The trim potentiometer (P1) adjusts the noise signal level into the white-noise circuit section. Using an oscilloscope or a similar device, you can view this at the J2 Output connector tip.

While this module primarily focuses on white, red, and blue noise, you can modify the frequency response of the red and blue outputs by installing optional capacitors at specific locations (C9, C11, C12, C15) on the circuit board. Refer to the manual for details and notes on these modifications.
