A range of suspensions systems specifically for metal ceilings built around the U-Profile primary grid with a wide selection of secondary carriers – DP12 A-Bar, C-Profile, J-Bar, H-Profile, L-Profile, Bandraster – to support different metal ceiling panels. The U-Profile is pre-punched for fast layout and installation with purpose designed hangers, brackets and accessories all fastened using the plug-in clip. ● GENERAL APPLICATIONS A range of standard exposed grid suspensions systems including Prelude 15, Prelude 24, Prelude 24 Sixty2 for longer spans, Prelude 35 and Bandraster. PEAKFORM – Most profiles in the Prelude range of grids feature the innovative Peakform design which is taller and engineered to create stronger, more stable suspension systems. The Peakform shape makes Main Runners and Cross Tees quicker and easier to cut. PRELUDE UNIVERSAL MAIN RUNNER – The Prelude Universal Main Runner supports the installation of either TLX or TL hook/butt cut Cross Tees or XL stab/ override Cross Tees from one simple inventory of Main Runners. The staked-on Superlock clip provides a tighter, secure bulb-to-bulb connection allowing Main Runners to be disconnected and reconnected laterally in low-clearance areas or in the middle of the room. 2 The U-Profile system can also be used to set out the V-P 500 Baffles system, whilst the C-Channel primary grid is usually used for the Spring T system. ● FLOATING SUSPENSION SOLUTIONS XL2 Cross Tees – “Click” installation Prelude XL2 Cross Tees in 15mm, 24mm and 35mm widths feature an advanced stab system that locates with an audible click, ensuring a solid installation at all times. TLX Cross Tees – “Hook” installation TLX is a highly engineered staked-on hook solution with a patented clip. It’s unique steel-based composite material and shape provide a stronger and level connection, improved fire performance and increased overall stability. Prelude TLX Cross Tees are available in 24mm width. Whilst some canopy products just require simple adjustable wires fixed directly to the back of the product, others are more detailed. ● TL D-H 700 and D-Clip systems offer a configurable metal solution allowing designers flexibility to create bespoke ceiling rafts. ● TLX TL Cross Tees – “Hook” installation Prelude TL Cross Tees in 15mm width feature an advanced an integrally formed hook nose. This popular installation system has been a feature of Armstrong suspensions systems for over 20 years and its proven ease of assembly and precise butt cut joint has been a favourite of installers. SUSPENSION SYSTEMS Where innovation meets performance The Axiom Canopies range offers a choice of shapes, sizes and edge detailing and then you are free to choose your favourite Armstrong ceiling tile to compliment it. ● PRELUDE XL2 Alignment for XL2, TLX and TL Cross Tees is ensured by locating the tees to the right hand side of each other. ● SOLUTIONS FOR CORRIDORS ● DESIGNER GRID OPTIONS Armstrong’s designer grid range features two key products: Silhouette & Interlude. Silhouette is designed to create a crisp, clean look in conjunction with Armstrong MicroLook 90, MicroLook BE and Metal MicroLook 8 tiles to provide an enhanced aesthetic. The channel profile finishes flush with the ceiling surface leaving a minimalist 3mm or 6mm reveal. Interlude HRC is a unique double reveal solution developed to allow flexibility of layout for creative ceiling solutions and give a clean sophisticated appearance with any Armstrong MicroLook tile. Our extensive range of performance grids offers specific solutions for more demanding applications from clean rooms to seismic installations. Prelude 24 Corrosive Resistant has a special paint finish and is designed for areas requiring enhanced corrosion resistance. The Prelude 24 Corrosive Resistant grid and accessories have surpassed 700 hours salt spray testing to EN ISO 9227. System Z is a system providing an accessible semi-concealed appearance with ship-lap SL2 planks. Select either Prelude 24 or Bandraster as the visible grid and choose a Z-Bar or a length of Prelude 24 Butt Cut as the concealed section. 06 ● SOLUTIONS FOR PLASTERBOARD Armstrong Drywall Grid System (DGS) is a precision engineered solution for the suspension of plasterboard ceilings. Using suspended ceiling grid technology, the DGS system allows a very quick and accurate installation, eliminating readjustment of grid members and reducing installation times compared to traditional metal furring systems. Curved plasterboard ceilings can be created on site from standard components without the need for pre-ordered curved grid. ● PERIMETER SOLUTIONS AND DETAILING ● SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS & OTHER SYSTEMS Clean Room 24 is a unique co-extrusion of aluminium with a pvc gasket to create a better seal between tile and grid for clean room applications up to ISO 4 and can also be used in “non-magnetic” environments. There are multiple options for corridors to suit all material types – from System Z with SL2 planks to metal solutions such as F-Clip Access or F-H 600 to the innovative DGS Shortspan grid for plasterboard corridors. Seismic Rx® is a specific installation method for Prelude 24 grid with XL2 Cross Tees combined with specialist accessories. This system is tested to withstand the forces associated with significant seismic activity, or as required for buildings with higher security requirements such as nuclear/ defence establishments or transportation hubs. Axiom Transitions, Profiles and Blind Boxes compliment the traditional range of perimeter angle trims. Create changes in level, perimeter lighting features or transition to a flush plasterboard perimeter. ● A FULL RANGE OF ACCESSORIES Seismic testing has been also conducted on U-Profile + J-Bar and U-Profile + DP12 A-Bar systems. MR MR The test method on which the European calculations of loadbearing capacity are based upon is also defined in EN 13964, and considers the influence of both deflection and bending moment. The individual product pages of this brochure include a table giving the maximum uniform distributed load, based on different hanger centres, in accordance with Class 1 deflection, as defined in EN 13964:2004 + A1:2006. For markets outside of the EAA different deflection limits are sometimes required. The tables on this page show the maximum uniform distributed load for the deflection limits shown, but taking into account deflection only. Armstrong recommends a maximum of 4mm deflection between points of suspension for all grid components, irrespective of span, for aesthetic reasons. It means that the Armstrong systems and products you specify or install: • Will be free from defects in design, material and workmanship if properly installed and used under normal conditions. • Have the technical expertise and experience from the n°1 global suspended ceiling specialist. • Have been tested and accredited for the key technical attributes. • Have been site tested to demonstrate installation integrity and simplicity. • Will be supported at every stage of the project by the Armstrong team. • Will be repaired or replaced by Armstrong in the unlikely event of system failure attributed to unsatisfactory product / system performance as defined in the terms and conditions of the warranty. ● MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATION Installation of suspended ceiling systems should be carried out in accordance with Armstrong’s current manufacturer’s recommendations. For grid systems there are some specific points that should be considered: • The appropriate type of Cross Tee for the ceiling tile edge detail must be considered. • The grid systems should be installed in such a way that the loadbearing performance of the grid is not exceeded. • ‘Dynamic’ service fittings should be independently supported so not to transfer vibration into the suspension system. • Armstrong recommend the use of the ‘ladder formation’ and all our loading data is based on the ‘ladder formation’. Using the «H-formation» will give greater deflection for a given load. In Europe, the Construction Products Regulations (305/2011/EU) defines essential requirements for products (and projects) such that they are safe and fit for their intended use. Harmonisied Product Standards respond to these essential requirements and set out what tests must be conducted and how the performance must be communicated. For suspended ceilings the applicable product standard is EN 13964 Suspended Ceilings – Requirements & Test Methods. The essential requirements identified for substructure components (grid systems) are: • Reaction to Fire • Load bearing capacity • Durability It is mandatory to CE mark suspended ceiling grid and provide a Declaration of Performance in order to place it on the market. All Armstrong Declarations of Performance can be found on the Armstrong website. TECHNICAL INFORMATION ● SYSTEM GUARANTEE ● CE MARKING ● FIRE SAFETY Reaction to Fire is a mandatory CE marking characteristic and a product’s performance is classified to EN 13501-1 based on the results of European test methods cited in the classification standard. This gives a “Euroclass” rating which can range from A1 (non-combustible) to F. Depending on the reaction to fire test(s) conducted, the rating may include additional classifications for smoke and flaming droplets. Smoke production is rated for s1 (the least smoke produced) to s3 (no limit). Flaming droplets is rated from d0 (no droplets) to d3 (no limit). Each member state can then set their own building regulation requirement(s) for different areas of a building or diffrent building types using the Euroclass classification system. Fire Resistance – or structural fire protection – is primarily ensure the structure of a building remains stable during a fire to allow the occupants to escape and so that fire fighters can work without the threat of the building’s collapse. There are several ways in which the fire resistance performance of the buildings structure can be enhanced, and a ‘fire resistant’ suspended ceiling installation is one of them. Fire resistance is typically classified in accordance with EN 13501-2, although there is not yet a single harmonised European fire resistance test method which is acceptable and agreed by all members. A fire test is a system test, as it is the performance of the ceiling tile, the suspension system and in most case the floor or roof construction above. The complete construction and assembly of the test installation is important to the success of the test so Armstrong always test Armstrong tiles on Armstrong grid. Armstrong Prelude grids with TL, TLX or XL2 Cross Tees have all been tested and are all capable of use in fire resistant ceilings. There are many details of the test construction that must be understood and adhered to. These include: • Main Runner type and hanger centres • Minimum depth of the ceiling void • Floor loading as a % of the design load Always consult the full fire test or assessment document for details and limitations. Abridged versions must be regarded as undesirable as they will not show the full test details and construction. ● HEALTH AND CLEANLINESS YES NO For more information, please visit Armstrong website ● INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE CLEAN ROOM A Clean Room is a space or a series of spaces where the concentration of particles is controlled in order to minimise the introduction, generation, retention of particles inside, generally for a specific industrial or research objective, as well as in healthcare environments. Parameters such as temperature, humidity and relative pressure are also maintained at a precise level, as defined in ISO 14644-1. • Clean rooms are classified ISO 1 (cleanest) to ISO 9 depending on the number of particles measured. • The performance is tested to ISO 14644-1 which determines the particle cleanliness class. Although US Federal Standard 209E has been officially withdrawn, it is continuously used as a reference. Armstrong Clean Room grid gives enhanced performance thanks to it’s coextruded PVC gasket which enables a tighter seal to be established between tile and grid and has been tested to ISO 4. There are 2 types of rooms: - rooms with over-pressure, to avoid pollutants from entering (dust, bacteria,…) - rooms with negative pressure, to avoid various contaminants from escaping to the outside (viruses, bacteria, spores,…).
