3. Removing / Replacing the Rear Wheel
To remove the rear wheel you will require: 2 x ¾” wrench
3.1 Removing the rear wheel
Firstly open up the chair, making it easier to access the nut and bolt attached to the wheel. To do this pull the
arms away from each other, which will cause the chair to open.
Once the chair is open locate, and remove the black plastic cap from the outside of the rear wheel (see figure 1)
Figure 1
Once the cap has been removed, place one wrench on the bolt, (outside of the wheel) and place another wrench on
the nut (inside of the wheel). Both will require a ¾” wrench, this is the last setting on your supplied wrench (see
figures 2 and 3)

Whilst holing both wrenches start to turn the outside wrench (bolt) anticlockwise whilst holding the other wrench
(nut) still (see figures 4 and 5). It is recommended that you turn the wrench on the outside, as oppose to the
wrench on the inside to reduce the risk of the chair tipping backwards whilst turning the wrench. For the reason it
is advisable to get someone to hold the chair firm whilst the turning the wrench
Figure 4
Figure 5
Once loose remove the nut from the wrench and put in a safe place. Note there should also be a washer between
the nut and frame. Make sure this is kept safe with the nut removed you can now remove the wheel from the chair
with the bolt still through the wheel. It will be easier to remove the wheel if the chair is tilted and the wheel is
slightly up in the air. Once this is done simply pull the wheel away from the chair (see figure 6).
Figure 6
Once the wheel is removed, remove the bolt which will just slide out of the wheel you should have 1 x bolt, nut
and washer (see figure 7).

3.2 Replacing the Rear wheel
You will need 2 x ¾” wrenches,
To start with place the bolt through the wheel; this will make it easier for attaching to the frame.
Once the bolt is through the wheel push the bolt/wheel through the hole on the frame (see figure 8)
Figure 8
Push the wheel fully up against the frame, ensuring that the bolt is pushed all the way up to the wheel the end of
the bolt is showing on the inside of the frame (see figure 9).
Place the washer on the bolt and push it towards the frame of the chair. Now place the nut onto the bolt.
You will notice that the nut is not perfectly symmetrical as one end of the nut is thinner than the other the thickest
side should go towards the wheel you are replacing (see figure 9).

Figure 9
Bolt
Begin to screw the nut on to the bolt with your fingers, so that you can get a wrench onto the nut. Then put the
other wrench onto the bolt.
With both wrenches on the nut and bolt proceed to turn the wrench on the nut in a clockwise motion. (See figure
10) Whilst holding firm the wrench on the outside of the chair (on the bolt)
As oppose to before it is now advisable to turn the wrench on the inside of the chair (attached to the bolt). Yet
again to reduce the chance of the chair tipping over, it is still advisable to have someone hold the chair whilst you
are doing this.

Figure 10
Keep turning the nut until it is tight, and will not turn anymore. You can now remove the wrenches from the chair.
It would now be advisable to check that the wheel will move freely, and is aligned correctly. To do this tip the
chair, so that the wheel you have replaced is raised off the ground. Then spin the wheel and check it is moving
correctly (see figure 11)
Figure 11
If you are not happy that it is correctly aligned or there are any other problems it would be best to go back and
check you have gone through all the steps carefully, especially check that the nut is tight. Once you are happy
that the wheel is on correctly replace the back cap on the wheel (see figure 12).

5. Removing / replacing the front fork
You will need: 2 x ¾” wrench (at least one requires the prominent ¾” setting (see figure 34)
Figure 34
Firstly remove the black cap on the ball head (see Figure 35). This would be easiest by getting you nails under
either side of the black cap, and prising it off. Another method is to get a flat headed screwdriver and work you
way around the cap gradually lifting it upwards.
If using this method be extremely carefully not to scratch the paintwork.

Like before take 2 wrenches and place one on the top nut and one on the bottom nut. However this time turn the
top nut in a clockwise direction (see figure 47)
Figure 47
Keep turning the nut until you feel it become quite tight. It is important not to over tighten the nut as the front
fork will not move freely. Once at this stage keep slightly tightening the nut whilst and stop regularly to test if the
front fork moves freely. If at any point the fork stops to move freely the nut has been tightened too much. Now
slightly loosen the nut until the fork moves freely again. This is now the correct tightness. The front fork should be
able to spin round freely, whilst been fixed firmly in the ball head.

With the screws removed the seatbelt can be removed by gently pulling from the other side (see figures 57 and 58)
if the belt is not moving and you haven’t removed the top screw you may want to slightly loosen it to make it
easier to remove the belt.
Figure 57
Figure 58
Repeat this for the other side to fully remove the seat belt.
Replacing seat belt
There are a number of things that the screw will need to go through, please see the diagram and figure 59 for a
clearer overview of this: -
Figure 59
To begin with push the screw along with washer through the backrest upholstery (see figure 59)

Once the screw is through the seat upholstery, move the seatbelt into place, and align the hole from the seat belt
with the hole of the side frame (see figure 60 and 61)
Figure 60
Figure 61
Once aligned hold the belt in place whilst pushing the screw (with upholstery) through the hole in the belt, and
silver frame. Now start to turn the screw in a clockwise motion. Do this for a couple of turns and then, begin to
replace the screw in the top hole. Make sure that the small plastic clip that holds the brake wire in place is
between the back upholstery and the silver frame (see figures 62 and 63)
Figure 62
Figure 63
As with before turn the screw a few times in a clockwise motion, now both screws are loosely in, continue to
tighten them both making sure that all parts in-between the screw head and frame are fixed firmly.
The seatbelt should now be securely attached and the backrest back in place you can test this by pulling on the
seatbelt whilst holding the chair in place, and making sure that it is securely fastened to the chair.

8. Adjusting Sensitivity of brakes
8.1 Fine adjustment
By adjusting the ‘sensitivity’ of the brakes you are adjusting the space between the rear wheel and the brake pad.
The closer these two are, the more sensitive the brakes will be. If they are very close together the brakes may be
too sensitive. (See figure 64)
Figure 64
The smaller the gap
The greater the
sensitivity
To adjust the distance between the brake pad and wheel (therefore sensitivity) is to twist the small nut above the
brake pad (see figures 65 and 66)
Figure 65
Figure 66
To make the brake pad move upwards and reduce sensitivity. Turn the nut in an anticlockwise motion (see figure
67)

8.2 Course adjustment
You Will require: 1 x Screwdriver
If the fine adjustment will not adjust the brakes to the desired sensitivity you can then used course adjustment.
This will raise and lower the brake pad further. However it will be difficult to get the same accuracy.
Firstly locate the bronze screw, which will need to be loosened in order to make the course adjustment (see figures
68 and 69).
Figure 68
Figure 69
With the Screw located, get the screwdriver and begin to turn in an anticlockwise direction (see figure 70).

Technical manual Globetraveller
Whilst turning you will feel the screw become ‘Loose’ it is not necessary to fully remove the screw in order to
adjust the brakes. You only need to loosen the screw enough, so that you can slide the Mounting bolt down the
brake wire (see figure 71)
Figure 71
The brake now should be extremely loose. To find the tension that you want push down on the brake pad. As you
push the pad down it will cause the spring to contract, therefore increasing tension / sensitivity (see figure 72).
Figure 72
Once you have the brake at the desired tension Slide the screw /mounting bolt Back up to its original place making
sure the top of the mounting bolt goes through the black hole, and into the base of the spring (see figure 73). It is
important that the pad is still pushed down while doing this. It may be helpful to get someone else to hold the
brake pad in place.

With the mounting bolt in place and still pushing down the brake pad, begin to turn the screw in a clockwise
motion keep turning until tight, then gently release the brake pad. The screw and mounting plate should remain on
the same place on the wire. Now test the brakes and make any minor adjustments using the fine adjustment
method. Also make sure that the brakes lock on to the wheel correctly when the parking brake is on.
8. Replacing footplate
You will need 1 x Supplied wrench
Firstly remove loosen the bolt at the bottom of the footplate until you are able to move the footplate up and down
(See figure 74)
Figure 74
With the bolt loosened you can then slide the footplate away from the footrest arm (See Figure 75)
Figure 75
To replace the footplate you will need to get the triangle shaped metal part in the correct position (see figure 76)
Figure 76
To move this part up and down turn the bolt at the bottom of the footplate.

  • Foldable design
  • Adjustable settings
  • Easy to upgrade
  • Transit version
  • Requires a supervisor

Frequently Answers and Questions

What does it mean that the wheelchair is a transit version?
A transit version of a wheelchair means it is designed for short-distance transportation and requires a supervisor to push it. It is not intended for self-propulsion.
How often should I have my wheelchair serviced?
It is recommended that you have your wheelchair serviced by an authorized dealer every year.
What is the maximum user weight for this wheelchair?
The maximum user weight for this wheelchair is indicated on the frame label.
How do I adjust the brake sensitivity?
You can adjust the brake sensitivity using the fine adjustment nut or the course adjustment screw. The fine adjustment nut is located above the brake pad and allows for precise adjustments. The course adjustment screw is located on the brake wire and allows for larger adjustments.
How do I remove and replace the rear wheel?
To remove the rear wheel, you will need two ¾” wrenches. First, open the chair to access the nut and bolt attached to the wheel. Remove the black plastic cap from the outside of the rear wheel. Place one wrench on the bolt and another wrench on the nut. Turn the outside wrench anticlockwise while holding the inside wrench still. Once loose, remove the nut from the wrench and put it in a safe place. Remove the wheel from the chair. To replace the rear wheel, place the bolt through the wheel and push it through the hole on the frame. Push the wheel fully up against the frame and place the washer on the bolt. Place the nut onto the bolt and begin to screw it on with your fingers. Place both wrenches on the nut and bolt and turn the wrench on the nut in a clockwise motion while holding firm the wrench on the outside of the chair. Turn the nut until it is tight and replace the back cap on the wheel.
