Maintenance
Recommendations
The sanitary assemblies
are provided with
Vitreous China and
fireclay ceramic
products, with
associated CP brass,
stainless steel and
plastics fittings.
The material properties
and maintenance
recommendations are
as follows:
Vitreous China
Armitage Shanks
Vitreous China is a
white clay body which is
vitrified and
permanently fused with
a vitreous glazed
surface.
It is stain-proof, burnproof, rot-proof,
rustless, non-fading and
resistant to acids and
alkalis, in accordance
with BS3402:1969.
The 99.5% vitreosity
ensures that even
unglazed, it cannot
become contaminated
by bacteria and germs
and will always remain
hygienic. Vitreous China
is very hard wearing and
is guaranteed against
crazing.
Maintenance required is
normally confined to
surface cleaning
with a mild detergent or
soap solution. Dry with
a soft cloth.
Stubborn grease or dirt
can be easily removed
with a mild liquid
cleanser.
Regular daily cleaning
will minimise the risk of
encrustation
caused by lime deposits.
Fireclay
The thickness and
weight of fireclay give
fixtures great strength
and resistance to impact
and thermal shock.
Fireclay fixtures are
therefore particularly
suitable for anti-vandal
installations.
