FOXBOX VGA - MM and SM models
E26638
TECH NOTES
Firmware Upload – The FOXBOX VGA has two firmware files, one for the transmitter and one
for the receiver. Each unit should be loaded only with its respective firmware file. Power-cycling
and resetting of updated units is required upon completion of a firmware update.

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY
Released Version: 3.00
Affects: Engineering Revision: prior to E26638
Firmware Revision: 1.13
Date of Occurrence: Units shipped prior to September 2013
The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release.
Fixed two way communication issue – In a 2-fiber link connection between a previously
released FOX transmitter to a newer FOXBOX HDMI receiver, data settings from the transmitter
side were lost due to improper two way communication
Fixed active line count issue – Fixed active line count for 1366 x 768 and 1365 x 768 When a
FOXBOX VGA transmitter is connected to a FOXBOX HDMI receiver
Added new rates – Added new rates (1366 x 768, 1365 x 768, 1280 x 960, and 1440 x 900) to
the existing internal input table of the FOXBOX VGA transmitter
Fixed frozen image issue – Fixed frozen image issue when a FOXBOX VGA transmitter is
connected to a FOXBOX HDMI receiver with 2 fibers

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY
Released Version: 1.13
Affects: Engineering Revision: prior to E23359
Firmware Revision: 1.09
Date of Occurrence: Units shipped prior to January 2011
The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release.
Fixed video memory clearing/processing issues – Receivers connected to muted outputs of
a fiber matrix switcher displayed random video signals when the matrix outputs were un-muted.
Fixed audio muting issues- Receivers connected to muted outputs of a fiber matrix switcher
randomly went into audio mute mode
Fixed audio popping sounds issue – Audio outputs of receivers connected to muted outputs
of a fiber matrix switcher generated a random popping sound
Removed H&V Sync when a YUV input signal is detected – Turned off H&V sync on
receivers when outputting YUV signal
Fixed resolution tracking issue – Certain models of monitors did not correctly track 720p
video signals when receivers were powered on
Removed 2-to-4 second audio turn-on delay – Audio outputs of receivers connected to
muted outputs of a fiber matrix switcher had a 2-to-4 second turn-on delay after un-muting the
matrix switcher outputs.
Added widescreen resolutions – Added 1440x900, 1280x800, 1680x1050, 1360x768
widescreen resolution to transmitter EDID tables
Video shutdown delay capability – Added the capability via an SIS command to set a delay
timer for muting the output when a new input resolution is detected
Changed video and audio muting behavior – Video and audio muting turned off when
cycling power or changing video input resolution. Modified video and audio muting behavior to
enable muted output to stay muted during a power cycle video input resolution change

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY
Released Version: 1.09
Affects: Engineering Revision: prior to E21754
Firmware Revision: 1.08
Date of Occurrence: Units shipped prior to April 2010
The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release.
Changed SM threshold levels – Rx Link LED was in a constant ON state. This is due to a
difference in threshold levels between optical modules from the same vendor.
Fixed Audio Noise and Popping Issue – FOXBOX units paired with SMX boards were found to
exhibit audio popping noise when I/O ties were made to the SMX and muted.

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY
Released Version: 1.07
Affects: Engineering Revision: prior to E21542
Firmware Revision: 1.00
Date of Occurrence: Units shipped prior to October 2009
The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release.
Fixed image retention issue – Transmitters and receivers used in conjunction with Extron
fiber optic matrix switchers randomly displayed the last frame of video when inputs had been
disconnected or muted.
Fixed relay chattering issue – The alarm relay of receivers connected to Extron fiber optic
matrix switchers randomly turned off and on when inputs had been disconnected or muted.
