8x8 Matrix for HDMI with FST and 3DTV
Gefen FST
Fast Switching Technology (FST) is a Gefen software implementation
for HDMI products. FST was created to improve the lengthy HDMI
authentication process, based on the HDMI and HDCP specifications.
FST allows for connecting/disconnecting or turning any of the HDTV
displays on or off without affecting other displays within the
audio/video distribution system.

The GefenToolBox 8x8 Matrix for HDMI routes eight Hi-Def
sources to any eight HDTV displays. Resolutions up to 1080p Full
HD and 1920x1200 plus 3DTV are supported, along with
multichannel digital audio formats such as Dolby® True HD and
DTS-HD Master Audio™.
The 8x8 Matrix eliminates the need to disconnect and reconnect
Hi-Def sources. It works with any Hi-Def source that needs to be
connected to any display using HDMI. Each source can be routed
to any display using the front-panel push buttons, IR remote
control, RS-232 interface, or over IP using the built-in Web
interface.
How It Works
Connect the Hi-Def audio/video sources to the eight HDMI inputs
using the supplied HDMI cables. Connect up to eight displays to
the HDMI outputs. 3D content can be displayed from the 3D
source when a 3D-capable display is connected to Output 1.
Connect the external power supply to the matrix and plug the
power cable into an available electrical outlet. Apply power to all
of the sources and displays.

Use the Mini PACS to control your audio and video
devices over your local network or over the Web
The Mini Professional Automation Control System (Mini PACS) is
used to control audio and video devices (such as TVs, Blu-ray
players, and set-top boxes) using IP over a network. It allows
control of one RS-232 serial-controlled device, three IR-controlled
devices, and two relay contacts. The Mini PACS is a scaled-down
version of the Gefen PACS, providing the same level of control,
but has fewer input and output ports. This makes it more
cost-effective for distributed control installations, or where fewer
I/O ports are required.
The Web user interface allows IR and two-way RS-232 commands
to be sent by the Mini PACS to the connected devices to execute
the desired functions. The IR and RS-232 ports can be
configured, allowing the Mini PACS to be compatible with most
audio and video devices. It can learn, store, and manage IR
commands from other manufacturers' remotes. Two
normally-open relays allow control of screens, blinds, or
draperies.
The Mini PACS is ideally suited for use with the Gefen
Audio/Video Automation (GAVA) System Processor. However, it
can be used with other control systems capable of IP
communications. The Mini PACS can be mounted on a wall or
any flat surface, close to the devices being controlled.

How It Works
Connect the locking power supply to the Mini PACS and plug it
into an available AC outlet. Connect an Ethernet cable between
the Mini PACS and the local network.
Access the Web interface by typing in the correct IP address on
the Web browser. Configure the control interfaces (IR, RS-232,
and relays) via your Web browser. Configure your automation
system to send commands to the Mini PACS via IP.
Connect a serial-controlled device to the RS-232 port on the Mini
PACS. Plug the IR emitters into the Mini PACS and place the
infrared LEDs close to the IR sensors of the A/V devices to be
controlled via IR. Connect to the relay outputs as required (12V
DC is also provided for convenience). Two-way RS-232 control

Advanced Signal Generator for HDMI with 3D Testing Feature
Small, Powerful Signal Generator for HDMI with 3DTV
and KSV Testing
Gefen's next-generation Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI
and 3DTV is designed for easy mobility when installing, designing,
or troubleshooting audio/video systems in the field. Real-time testing
capability for multiple displays and projectors, support for 3DTV,
advanced features, and the small light-weight package, make this
Signal Generator a valuable tool for integrators.
The GefenTV HD Mini Pattern Signal Generator supplies 25 timings,
6 patterns, and an additional 3D testing pattern, for calibrating and
testing video performance. The 3DTV test pattern supports
side-by-side, top-and-bottom, and frame-packing 3D formats up to
1080p@24Hz. It supports HD resolutions up to 1080p Full HD and
VESA resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. The built-in audio signal
generator provides up to seven channels of LPCM audio.
The Audio Return Channel (ARC) can be tested via the TOSLINK
digital audio output. Other features include: 12-bit Deep Color,
HDCP and EDID analysis, making this device very useful for installers
and integrators. This new Signal Generator can also analyze the
audio/video signal on the input and display the exact video timing
and audio specifications on-screen.
Advanced features include a KSV count for the connected source- the
HD Mini Pattern Signal Generator for HDMI and 3DTV will identify
the maximum number of KSV keys the source can handle. This is
extremely valuable when distributing an HDCP-compliant source to
multiple displays.
This model also allows you to store a display's EDID information and
take it to the field. If you experience issues with signal loss when
testing displays in the field, you can use either display's EDID or the
previously installed EDID to overcome the issue.
The easy-to-read OLED display, along with an external On-Screen
Display (OSD) menu, accessed through capacitive-touch navigation
buttons on top of the unit, guides users through all settings for easy
operation. Its ease of use enables a professional on-site evaluation
and calibration of HDTV systems, immediately locating where
problems lie so they may be quickly solved.
How It Works
Connect an HDMI cable from the HD Mini Pattern Signal Generator
to the output device (e.g. display). If testing ARC (Audio Return
Channel), connect an optical cable from the output of the signal
generator to the optical input of an audio amplifier.For pass-through
signal analysis, from the source to the output device, connect an

The GefenTV 4x1 HD Switcher w/ Audio Decoding is ideal for anyone
wanting to create Home Cinema systems using multiple HDMI
audio/video sources. It offers an easy-to-use alternative to
over-complicated Home Theater Receivers, while supporting 3DTV and
the latest Blu-ray audio features, or it can add HDMI connections and
audio decoding to existing A/V Receivers that lack HDMI support.
It decodes multi-channel surround-sound formatted digital audio from up
to four HDMI sources, from coax and optical S/PDIF digital audio sources,
plus a stereo analog input. Audio is output on six discrete analog RCA
jacks, ready for any 5.1 channel power amplifier, or connects to the
“External Processor” input on most existing A/V receivers.
Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II, LPCM direct stereo and multichannel surround-sound audio formats are supported with up to six (5.1)
discrete channels. The front left and front right channels feature dual
outputs for bi-amplification.
Advanced audio pre-processing insures an optimal surround sound signal,
and a bright LCD display guides operations. RS-232 control allows
connection to remote control or home automation systems, such as
Gefen’s new GAVA automation system and Gefen PACS, with full
feedback.
How It Works
Users can select audio from any one of four connected Hi-Def sources,
both digital audio inputs and 2-channel analog audio. A Blu-ray player,
gaming console, set-top box, DVD player, CD player and more can all be
connected at the same time. If an HDMI source is selected, video is
delivered in Hi-Def format to any HDTV display, and audio is delivered as
5.1 channel audio using standard RCA connectors. The HDMI output
supports pass-through 3DTV making it ideal for future-proofing systems.
Users can also pass-through audio using the digital and/or analog audio
inputs, delivering it as up to 5.1-channel audio, enabling high quality
surround-sound. When an audio input is selected, the video from the
previously-selected video source is still output to the HDMI output, allowing
users to watch a video source while listening to a different audio source.
Users control all audio features using the IR remote or by front-panel
buttons. An RS-232 port and 12V triggers allow interaction with any home
automation system for added convenience.

The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI Extender SR system sends high
definition audio and video to any HDTV display up to 80 feet (25
meters). It extends HDMI A/V content from computers using HDMI,
set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, and other A/V sources to remote
HDMI-compliant display(s). This wireless product is comprised of a
small Sender unit and one table-top Receiver unit. It supports HD
resolutions up to 1080p Full HD along with support for
7.1-channels of digital audio in PCM, Dolby®, or DTS® formats.
The Wireless for HDMI Extender SR transmits within the room and
does not require line-of-sight placement of transceivers for good
reception. Thanks to its small form-factor and easy to plug in
Sender unit, this product is ideal for high-definition A/V extension

the quick addition of portable devices such as a presentation

How It Works
Plug the Sender unit directly into the HDMI output of the source.
Connect an HDMI cable from the Receiver unit to the HDTV
display. When using a PC as the source, connect the supplied
USB-to-mini-USB cable from the PC to the Sender unit. When using
sources that do not have an available powered USB port, you will
need to use the provided USB power supply. Connect the other
power supply to the DC jack on the back of the Receiver unit.
Connect the power supplies to available electrical outlets. If the
Sender and Receiver units do not pair automatically, point the IR
remote at the IR sensor window on the Receiver unit and press the
Menu button. Navigate through the on-screen menu and have the
Receiver unit look for a Sender unit. Press and hold the pairing

The GefenTV Wireless for HDMI Extender LR system sends high
definition audio and video to any HDTV display up to 100 feet (30
meters) away. It extends HDMI from computers, set-top boxes,
Blu-ray players, and other audio/video sources to a remote HDTV
display. The Wireless for HDMI Extender LR supports resolutions up
to 1080p Full HD along with support for 7.1-channels of digital
audio in PCM, Dolby®, or DTS® formats. An IR emitter can be
connected to the Sender unit and attached to the IR sensor lens of
the Hi-Def source, allowing full control of the source from another
room simply by pointing the IR remote at the Receiver unit. The
Wireless for HDMI Extender LR transmits through walls and does not
require line-of-sight for good reception. Additional features allow
multiple Sender units where each display can access up to three
sources, using the included handheld remote control.
How It Works
Connect an HDMI cable from the Hi-Def source to the Sender unit.
Connect an HDMI cable from the Receiver unit to the HDTV
display. Connect the included power supplies to both the Sender
and Receiver units then connect the power cords to available
electrical outlets. Connect an IR emitter from the Sender unit to the
IR device to be controlled. Power-up the source and the display.
The “Video” indicators on both units should now glow solid blue to
indicate a successful connection between the Sender and Receiver
unit. If the Sender and Receiver units do not pair automatically,
point the IR remote at the IR sensor window on the Receiver unit
and press the Menu button. Navigate through the on-screen menu
and have the Receiver unit look for a Sender unit. Press and hold
the pairing button on the Sender unit until the Link LED starts
blinking. Press the OK button on the IR remote. A message
indicating that the Sender and the Receiver units have been paired
will appear on the display. Point the source’s IR remote at the IR
window on the Receiver unit to control the source** that is placed
near the Sender unit.

Route any 32 DVI Sources to any 32 Displays and extend
outputs using CAT-5 or Fiber Optic cables
The GefenPRO 32x32 Modular Matrix provides an all-in-one
professional-grade solution to route up to 32 DVI sources to any 32
DVI displays with resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. The modular design
of this matrix provides the ultimate in flexibility by allowing the use of
any combination of DVI, ELR, or 1FO output modules in any of its four
output slots. This feature allows the GefenPRO 32x32 Modular Matrix
to function as both a Matrix and as an Extender. The front-panel LCD
displays the current routing status and each DVI source is accessible to
any display by using the front-panel push buttons, via the RS-232
interface, or through IP Control (built-in Web server and Telnet).
Hot-swappable dual redundant power supplies allow these matrixes to
be used for applications in demanding applications where enhanced
reliability, ease of servicing and zero down-time are required.
How It Works
Connect up to 32 DVI source devices using DVI cables to the inputs on
the GefenPRO Modular Matrix. Connect up to 32 displays via DVI,
CAT-5, or Fiber Optic cables depending on which output modules are
utilized. Connect an Ethernet cable from the network to the RJ-45
connector to use the built-in Web server or Telnet capability to control
routing, EDID, and other functions. Connect an RS-232 cable from a
RS-232 control device to control the matrix via RS-232. Connect the
IEC connectors of the included AC power cords to the matrix and plug

How It Works

CAT-5e cable to connect each of the receivers to the matrix. An external power
supply is not required because power is delivered by the matrix over the CAT-5e
cables. 3D content can be displayed when connecting a 3DTV and 3D
source.Connect the included AC power cord to the matrix and plug it into an
available electrical outlet. Turn on the matrix by pressing the power switch.
Apply power to sources and to the displays. The Hi-Def sources can now be
routed to any display by using the IR remote control, RS-232 port, IP (Telnet or

Gefen FST
Fast Switching Technology (FST) is a Gefen software implementation

The GefenPRO 3GSDI Audio De-Embedder extracts audio from
3GSDI, Single Link HD-SDI, and SDI video signals. Up to four
AES/EBU digital audio streams can be de-embedded and routed
to any of the four audio outputs. Selection and routing of each
audio group / pair can be configured via RS-232.
How It Works
Connect an SDI source to the SDI In connector. Connect the SDI
Loop Out connector to an SDI audio/video device to monitor the
original unmodified signal. Connect the Output connector to an
SDI acceptor (such as video broadcast equipment). Connect up
to four AES/EBU digital audio reproduction devices (such as a
DAT recorder or pre-amp) to the Audio Out connectors. Connect
the RS-232 cable from the Audio De-Embedder to a PC or
automation system to control which audio group will be
de-embedded from the video signal. Connect the AC power
cord to the 3GSDI Audio De-Embedder and to an available
electrical outlet. Once the unit is powered, RS-232 commands
can be used to select the audio group and pair to be

device through a Web or IP interface
The Professional Automation Control System (PACS) allows
control of Gefen products and other A/V devices (e.g. displays,
Blu-ray players, cable/satellite boxes, Lighting systems, motorized
screens, etc.) through any Web-enabled smartphone, WiFi tablet,
laptop, or automation system. The Web user interface allows IR,
RS-232, and 12V trigger commands to be sent by the PACS to
the connected devices to execute the desired functions. The IR,
RS-232, and 12V DC triggers can be configured, allowing the
PACS to be compatible with most A/V devices. It can learn, store,
and manage IR commands of different manufacturers’ remotes.
The PACS is particularly suitable for use with the Gefen GAVA
Automation System Processor; however it can be used in other
systems capable of programmable IP communications or it can
be configured as an RS-232-to-IR bridge.

Save the DisplayPort EDID from the display to the
source
Computers and other Hi-Def video source devices can sometimes lose the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data), when
switched away from the source. When displays are switched off
(or disconnected and reconnected), EDID can also be lost and a
computer or a Hi-Def video device may no longer be able to
show the video properly. The Gefen DisplayPort Detective Plus
allows an EDID to be pre-set or recorded from a display. The
data is then stored in non-volatile memory. The display can then
be switched or relocated to a different source, providing the new
source with the correct video. External DIP switches can provide
instant access to pre-programmed EDID banks, providing rapid
integration of your source and display.
How It Works
Connect a DisplayPort cable from the display to the output port
of the DisplayPort Detective Plus. To copy the EDID from the
display, connect the included 5V DC power supply or a powered
USB port to the DisplayPort Detective Plus. Press and hold the
Program button on the front panel to record the EDID of the
connected display. Remove the power supply and connect the
source to the input port using the included DisplayPort cable.

How It Works

How It Works
Connect up to two DVI sources to the Sender unit using the
supplied DVI cables. Use the supplied USB cables to connect the
USB host (source) device to the USB port on the Sender Unit.
Connect up to four USB devices to the Receiver unit. Connect the
USB Link from the Sender to the Receiver Unit using a
CnjhbhAT-6a cable. Connect up two two displays to the Receiver
unit using the supplied DVI cables. Use four Cat-6 cables, up to
330 feet (100 meters), to connect the Sender unit to the
Receiver unit. Connect the included locking power supplies to the
Sender unit and Receiver unit and connect both power cords to
available electrical outlets.

The 2x DVIKVM Extra Long Range Extender Over One CAT5
extends any two DVI sources and USB to two monitors, touch

The Extender for DVI and RS232 over One Fiber Optic cable is a
complete extension solution, allowing DVI and RS-232 to be
extended to a monitor, touch-screen display, or other DVI device

The Dual Link DVI fiber optic module extender with Virtual EDID
extends dual-link DVI up to 3300 feet (1 km) to a display

The DVI 3600HD allows you to operate a single DVI-compliant
computer from two workstations, by extending DVI, USB 2.0,
analog audio, and RS-232 from the computer to the remote
workstation. USB peripherals can be placed at either of the two
locations, by the Sender or Receiver unit.
How It Works
The DVI 3600HD consists of a Sender and a Receiver unit. The
Sender unit connects to the computer's DVI-compliant video card
output, analog audio jack, RS-232 port, and USB 2.0 port. The
DVI 3600HD Receiver unit connects to the remote display and
peripherals. Four strands of LC fiber optic cable connect the
Sender and Receiver units together.
The DVI 3600HD has two modes of USB operation. When in
local mode, the computer sees USB devices connected to the
Sender unit. When in remote mode, the computer sees USB
devices connected to the Receiver unit. These two modes are
configured using a switch on the front panel of the Sender unit.

The 3GSDI Fiber Optic Extender extends 3G-SDI over one single-mode
ST-terminated fiber optic cable up to 1.25 miles (2 km). It supports
SMPTE-424M (3G-SDI), SMPTE-292M (HD-SDI), and SMPTE-259M
(SDl). The 3G-SDI BNC connector and the ST-terminated fiber optic
signal transmission provide excellent immunity to electromagnetic
interference compared to copper based extension modules.
